I was asked a very simple question that I found hard to answer at first. I found my own personal answer, but I would like to hear what you people think.
What kind of government is the strongest?
Feel free to argue, but keep it civil.

You're confusing the strongest with the most controlling. Most dictatorships are third world countries because they feed off their people to keep themselves rich and fat. With that said I couldn't point at one government and say it was the best. Each as strengths and weaknesses, and there will never be and never has been a perfect government. Personally I find any government that restricts the freedoms of its people to be the most distasteful.

Sure it may generally mess up the entire country, but to change a dictatorship to another government to something like a Democracy will take a large amount of effort. It's a question of which is stronger, not which is better for the country.

I think the point was made that it is weaker.

If Dictatorship was the strongest, everyone would use it. Canada, America, Europe, etc etc. They'd all be a Dictatorship if it was undesputible the strongest.
But, it's not. It only works in Third World countries. Meaning, WEAK.

I too would ask you guys to re-read all the posts made in this thread because some of you seem to be missing what Aden is saying. Just because third world countries are weak doesn't mean their governments are. Weak governments are governments that are easily overthrown.
I may be missing the point myself but I would say some form of Socialism. Dictatorships only work well to a certain extent in terms of country size. Once you expand the country to the size of let's say china or something, the power the dictator has seems to diminish as the distance from dictator increases. You then get mini dictatorships of certain areas which then just turns into socialism where you have a strong government that's broken into mini governments that control everything. So yeah. Socialism is my bet.

Not to sound like a typical goodie goodie, but I'd say most forms of democracy. And not because it makes us feel good, but because its flexibility also acts as an excellent balance of power across Time, thereby helping to counteract attempts at a new form of government taking over.
Dictatorships typically last an unstable period of ten years or less because the iron fist almost always leads to some form of resistance, which eventually leads to a government's destruction.
Communism, of course, is flawed because of its assumption that all human beings desire nothing more than to be the same as their neighbor, which isn't the case. Hence why the only real communism left in the world is Cuba, and that is due to fall some day as well. The iconic status of Castro is the real power of that nation. Though it's health care does kick ass, no point in denying that.
Socialism is an interesting government. On the one hand, it can be incredibly stable because of the support that the government gives to its people - health care, insurance, pensions, retirement, security. On the other hand, I've noticed that it is very expensive for a government to adequately support all of its citizens, and as we've seen in China, it tends to become something on a Police State as its populace grows and its power complicates into something more. Thus, socialist ideas are strong, but pure socialism is difficult to perfect.
Monarchies themselves are flawed to fall over time, as we've seen in history, but if they are changed into something of a Parliamentary system, then they can survive. England is the example that comes first to mind: the phrase "for Queen and Country" gives a similar tone to what we Americans would relate to when we hear about George Washington. That iconic leader helps to unite and relax the people. Though, of course, you need an adequate government to actually satisfy them, or else it all goes to hell anyways.
Democracy is likely the strongest, but the problem I find is that such a government needs to be in a stable region to survive. The reason the United States succeeds as a strong democracy is not only because of our history and our luck of only have a handful of enemies, but also that we gained a significant deal of power from our geography incredibly quickly - the size of our nation spread across an entire continent in just one century. That's not always the case for other democracies, and the problem is that most democracies are in unstable regions, where people that have other interests can still gain power and overthrow this government. A democracy needs time to grow and to stabilize, and most nations do not have that time. Thus, while a democracy is the strongest once it has stabilized, it is a difficult government to attain.
