"Are you that guy who plays with Legos?"
Kai chose to ignore the kid who stood before him, while he knelt down in the grass, playing with little plastic pieces. Although he looked like he'd just entered high school, he was actually old enough to be leaving in a few months. The Asian senior made no motion to even acknowledge the boy, and simply kept going, though he knew, sooner or later, the kid was going to snap.
"I bet you're one of them Varronites. You're all fucking weird...." he trailed off, egging Kai on for a response. He'd get none. Why are all these Hircines so damned annoying? "Hey, answer me, fucknut." The boy raised his leg and attempted to smash it into the back of Kai's head. However, Kai having already seen the shadow, and seen his intent, simply rolled out of the way, letting his Lego creation explode into tiny pieces.
Godamnit.
Even as Kai recovered from his roll, the boy was already on him, attempting to send a punch down at him. What an idiot. Aiming downwards? Deciding to end it quickly, he sending turned his back to the boy and snapped his leg out, Rock Lee style, almost doing a split. There was a loud thump as it connected with the boy's chest, and he was thrown backwards, landing on the jagged pieces.
Kai stood up slowly, seeing if anyone had seen that.
Maybe my dreams of a peaceful Senior year are going to end because of one punk.....

A petite and slender female student of Hircine High found herself sitting on the grass while leaning against one of the many trees outside of the school, shadowed by the large tree she chose to stay at. She would have been unnoticeable if it weren't for her brilliant pink hair. Her eyes were closed, as if sleeping, but of course, she wasn't. She was alert and cautious, like usual. And she would have kept her current position if it wasn't for a fellow student's sudden outburst towards a Varronite, or so she thought she heard.
Reiye sighed mentally as she raised her head, opening her eyes at the same time, revealing beautiful bluish grey eyes. She glanced over towards where the outburst belonged to just in time to catch a glimpse of a Hircine student shot his leg out, attempting to hit the back of the supposed Varronite's head. She watched as the asian rolled out of the way, his timing perfect, as the Hircine student's leg hits the stack of Lego's. She couldn't help but laugh mentally at that individual's stupidity and brashness while her exterior showed nothing but a plain emotionless yet observing face.
The seventeen-year-old kept her gaze on the situation at hand, convinced that the students at Hircine are making this whole Hircine-Varron rivalry worse. What's the point of doing all these mindless things despite the reputation Varron Academy had received before it was shut down? Despite herself being a Hircine student, though tranferred here not too long ago, she finds this whole thing meaningless. Or maybe it's just because of her apathy for this world revolving around her.
Anyway, she watched as the Varronite threw the Hircinian backwards with one kick. Her gaze fell upon the one landing on the Lego's as she finally got up from her confortable position.
How pathetic. That is just going to make Hircine students' reputation worsen by getting beat by a Varronite. Why do they even bother? Reiye once again sighed mentally as she looked at the asian, observing him carefully. She means not to offend him; she has nothing against the Varronites, neither has she met a lot of them either. But either way, even if she felt anything, her face didn't show it. It consisted of her usual emotionless face.

((I'm not a Varronite, just so you know. )) "Maybe you should think about what you're doing. I'm not a Varronite," Kai said softly, keeping his back to the boy who was on the floor, gasping for breath. Despite his present condition, Kai could have done a lot worse. Fate had shown mercy for him today, had Kai's shoes been on, he would have sustained a broken rib at the least. He had also landed in grass, even if there were Lego's scattered about. Kai almost smiled. Why can't fate do this for me? Picking up his shoes, he slipped them on, and walked toward the boy, helping him up. "I'd go to the infirmary if I were you," Kai said softly, as the boy limped away. Kai looked around. Everyone was too far away to see what'd just happened. Pink. Kai looked in the direction of a girl who'd been staring at the situation for some time. They locked eyes for a while, until Kai finally spoke. "I hope you can keep a secret....."

(((ooc: Ahh I knew something was wrong >.> meeh ... ))) Surprise. That was what came first of all other emotions right after she heard that the asian isn't even a Varronite. It took a brief second to clear her head before laughing at herself mentally for the faulty assumption due to the other Hircinian's harsh accusation. Anyway, Reiye watched as the 'supposed-Varronite' helped the other up, telling him to head to the infirmary. Reiye smiled in her mind while keeping a straight face on the exterior. And he didn't even apologize or say thank you. she thought slightly sarcastically before turning her gaze away from the now limping figure. Her greyish blue orbs now landed on the main character of the show, just in time to hear him speak. Most likely to her she supposed, seeing that she is the only one close enough to hear and see the entire act. Heh. That's probably one of the things I can do without being asked ...Reiye said nothing first as she gave a slight nod, acknowledging what he said as well as agreeing to it; however, she doesn't really see a point of hiding this when he isn't even a Varron transfer. But she supposed he just doesn't want to make this big, something she understands quite well. After a brief second, she spoke out, her voice plain and quiet, almost as if she was talking to herself, but not exactly. "Seems like the Hircine-Varron rivalry will never end. Not to mention that original Hircine students can't even differentiate between their own and the transfers." she said, somewhat emphasizing on the word 'original'. And it was slightly rare for her to speak openly to a stranger as well. Seems like coming here does have a slight impact. She shrugged that thought off and her gaze stayed on the strange figure before her, never faltering.

"It's funny, isn't it?"
Kai spoke the words while not looking at her. He'd assumed the words were directed at him, being the only other person near her. He began crawling around on the grass, picking up his pieces. This happens every other day. I might as well not bring these. He smiled to himself, unseen by others, and dumped the bricks into his backpack. He snuck a glance backwards to see if she was still observing him. Still. Gosh, that's kind of creepy. He was reminded of those cameras in the back of the grocery, the ones you couldn't tell were real or not.
To be friends or not?
He thought for a moment, frozen in position, looking at the sky. I guess so. It's boring here. I just realized KruZy's not even in High School. He stood up slowly and walked towards her. Some of the best conversations are silent, Kai thought, as he plopped down next to her, small clumps of dirt falling off his shirt as he did so. He merely stared at her, the same way she stared at him, as though asking:
Why are you staring at me like that?

Reiye watched as he plopped down beside her. She was actually still standing after she got up earlier before, so she herself did the same and sat down. Her back once again leaned back against the tree, not exactly too comfortably. Either way, she noticed him staring back at her, using the same type of stare, and she couldn't help but laugh mentally at the sight. This person is indeed strange, but uniquely different and interesting. Why is it that every student she has met so far are all 'different' compared to normal individuals? Not that she's complaining, for in fact she finds this quite enjoyable.
Finally, she nodded, referring to his first comment regarding how the relationship between the two groups is funny. After that, she turned to look away. She could easily tell why he was looking at her like that, and what he was asking as well. It wasn't hard to tell, at least not to Reiye. Her gaze now landed on the tree above as her eyes narrowed slightly due to the brightness of the sun shining through the leaves. She didn't answer his question. She would if he asked aloud, but from what she saw so far in both of their personalities, he might not, but then again, she could be wrong. Come to think of it, neither of them introduced each other yet, but it usually goes this way with someone like Reiye. She doens't seem to mind it much either, though many others seem to find it annoying and frustrating.

"You're not the type to talk or show emotion, are you?"
Kai had already picked that up, from her behavior. It was quite easy to tell, actually. Her silence made it easier for Kai to observe her, the way he did with everyone he met. She's alright at reading other people's feelings, though. It's a bit hard to tell what she's thinking, since it's as though her face were forged from rock.... not in the ugly sense. Just that it ALWAYS looks the same. Kai smiled slightly, and broke the stare, leaning back into the grass, flinging his shoes off. The grass was soft and warm, but not moist. Just perfect. Kai closed his eyes, thinking of something to say. She's not like other people. I don't know how to interact. He froze for a split second. It's easy to just walk away. So why don't I? He ignored the confusing thoughts, and spoke, the first to break the ice.
"You're not gonna tell me your name? Or number?" he said softly with a laugh, not quite looking at her.

Reiye watched as he flung away his shoes. That is definitely not something a normal person would do, she knows that much. She raised a brow mentally at the sight, but soon laughed it off in her mind. Interesting individual. She has no doubt about that.
Finally, she heard him speak up, and she couldn't help but glance at him from the corner of her eyes when he said it. She chuckled mentally, for she found this quite amusing. Finally, a subtle grin appeared on her face, almost invisible, but with this student's observative nature, or so she can see, she was pretty sure he would notice. That is unless her long hair blocked his view though. This is yet another rare thing, for Reiye to smile that is, but not impossible.
"Reiye." she paused before stating her full name. "Reiye Yoruhana." The girl stopped there. As for her number, she honestly doesn't remember. Funny yes, but it's the truth. Well, she's sure that she can if she tries to remember it, but she wasn't trying right now. She can easily remember her home phone number, but her cell phone number ... that's another story. Plus, why would you need to know your own cell number when you're most likely not going to call yourself? Or well, it's not something Reiye will or needs to do anyway. Either way, she shrugged the thought off as she waited for the other student to introduce himself. She was pretty sure he would do so without her asking, since he already asked her, right?

Did I just see her smile?
Kai almost laughed. I've never seen someone so obstinate about showing their emotions. He thought for a moment. Well, I used to be like that.... kind of.... "Reiye....." he repeted to himself, barely audible. What a.... unique name. In the US, at least. He looked her way. She was still facing the other way, a bit odd. One usually looked at someone when speaking. Ah, you antisocial kids..... He waited for a moment, and when met with only silence, he deduced the following: One of the following: She doesn't have a cell phone, and doesn't want to give me her home phone number. She didn't hear me. You doesn't want to give it to me. She can't remember it. He figure she had to have heard him since she'd told him her name, and most teens above the age of 15 are rarely seen without a phone, so it had to be his last choice.
He smiled slightly again. If she'd wanted to, she would have flipped her phone open to check what it was. She doesn't want to give it to me. At least now I know she's not promiscuous.... or is she? He shifted slightly, confused. She's probably expecting me to introduce myself. I guess I'll humor her just this once.
"Kenji," he simply stated, using his alias.

The Hircine Junior glanced at him when he stated his name. Kenji. It almost surprised her. She had expected a Chinese name, mainly because she thought he is one. Well, he looked like one, not that Japanese and Chinese don't have similar traits in certain areas. She just assumed he is Chinese over being Japanese. Plus, she herself is a full-blooded Japanese, so she was somewhat surprised at herself for being wrong, but nonetheless, he stated his name, she might as well accept it. Or maybe, he's a Chinese using a Japanese name. Now she wouldn't know, would she?
She allowed herself to give a slight nod, acknowledging his introduction, but said nothing in response. Finally, she spoke out. Her curiosity seemed to have overrode her apathetic nature this time, mainly because she didn't like to be wrong. Don't get her wrong. It's not that she's afraid to be wrong or afraid to lose, but rather she just 'dislikes' it. She doesn't like to have people see her producing faulty results or assumptions either, not that Kenji would really know unless she speaks out that is. And she is doing exactly that. Like they always say, curiosity kills the cat.
"You are Japanese?" she asked slowly, her tone of voice soft. She didn't seem to reveal her surprise; she didn't seem to reveal emotions of any sort. It was just a plain question really. It almost sounded like a statement rather than question if it wasn't for her slight rise in tone at the end, signalling that it is indeed a question.

Hmmm. She's the first to actually ask. Does she want to clarify something? Did she know I was Chinese?
"No," he responded, truthfully. She's a bit sharper than others. He dropped the subject, not wanting to plant himself into too deep of a hole. If he'd learned anything, it's that the smallest things could have the biggest effect. Although, right here and now, he sincerely doubted that. "My parents gave me a Japanese name, that's all," he lied, no trace of dishonesty in his voice. It couldn't have been farther from the truth. In fact, Kai never knew his parents. But he kept silent, and instead asked her the same question.
"Are you?" he asked, already knowing the answers.

Reiye listened to Kenji's response carefully, receiving the answer she was hoping for: no. And so she wasn't wrong; she was probably correct in thinking he is Chinese then. Probably. She can't be perfectly sure of course, since Kenji himself never said anything about it, but either way, Reiye was satisfied with the answer in order to please her mind and curiosity.
"I see." she replied simply for the sake of giving a response.
She soon heard him question her back, posing the same exact question she asked just earlier. The answer was obvious of course, but she can understand why he asked. Conversations do grow from tiny topics like these, most of the time anyway. With Reiye, who knows if that'll work. Well, she supposed it really depends if this Kenji figure keeps her interested for long enough. So far, he's not doing a bad job. He is amusing -in an unique way- in the least, due to his strange habits seen so far. At any rate, Reiye's last name is a good indicator of her ethnicity if her first name isn't. And well, her first name really isn't exactly Japanese. She wasn't even sure where it came from, but it mattered not. If it was in Japanese, it would have been pronounced slightly differently than the way it is actually pronounced: Ray. If it was spoken in Japanese, it would have been pronounced 'Ray-yeh', which would sound awfully awkward.
Anyway, Reiye answered his question, but not with her voice; she simply nodded.

She's so quiet.
He bit his thumb, not the nail, but the flesh. Another one of his quirky habits. Something he usually did when he was thinking. Is she emo just because it seems to be the cool thing to be nowadays? He thought for a moment, nodding to show he'd acknowledged her response to his question. I doubt that. Emo-wannabe's can interact. No, they do interact. He took his thumb out his mouth. I'm not gonna ask, either.
"Grade," he simply stated, asking for what grade she was in. If she's this type of girl, then Kai'd take it one step at a time. Simple questions.

"Grade."
That word echoes in Reiye's mind. It had a funny impact on her, the one-worded 'question', or well, slightly like ... a demand or inquisition. Now the reason for that was because it sounded like something she would say. Well, maybe she would say it slightly different, but nonetheless, it's similar. It looks like Kenji here knows how to communicate with people such as herself. She had met many people in the past, not here in San Francisco, and she can't say most of them knew how to make her talk. Or, to be more specific, knew how to befriend and get to know her.
Anyway, Reiye glanced at Kenji, her head turning slightly in his direction, but barely. She was about to say the number regarding which grade she's in, but stopped herself mentally. "Junior." was what came out of her mouth softly.
A brief pause then followed before she directed the same 'question' at Kenji.
He looks young and he was playing with Lego's, so from first view, she'd assume he's either a freshman or sophomore. However, she knows looks can be deceiving. Take her for example, Reiye doesn't exactly look seventeen, yet she is. Her personality might seem somewhat mature, okay fine, very mature due to her quietness and solemness, but she definitely does not look like a Junior physically. Taking this into consideration, she's guess Kenji is around her age; possibly her age. Maybe. But she'll see; she'll find out soon.

((Sorry for the short delay. I just had the funniest conversation.))
Hmm.... should I lie or not?
Kenji thought about it for a moment, as though he needed to think about what grade he was in. "Senior," he said, just to see if she'd be surprised by that, and show some sort of reaction. She's probably expecting me to be young, since I play with little boy toys.... he thought, slightly smiling to himself. He sat up, and leaned back against the tree instead, kinda close to Reiye. Ah, Kai was evil like this, doing odd things just to see how they'd react, all while serving a common purpose. She sure doesn't look like a Junior, Kai thought, sneaking a glance. Then again, I don't look like a Senior.
"Class is going to start soon," Kai said, a touch of sadness in his voice. But because he had to leave Reiye, or simply because it was time for class?
Who knows.

(((ooc: No worries.)))
The girl kept her eyes on Kenji as he responded, saying a simple "Senior" like she did with her "Junior" as an answer. Bingo! She smiled mentally. She was close. So he really isn't as young as he looks. Reiye said nothing about her estimation regarding his grade as she just turned her gaze away from him slightly now.
Soon, she felt his presence somewhat closer, and she glanced at him once again, noticing his position. He too, seemingly, also leaned against the tree beside her. Once again, she kept quiet. She didn't seem to mind whatsoever. Well, to be honest, Reiye doesn't mind people being close to her, neither does she mind people in general. She just isn't the talkative or social type. Introvert, yes. Definitely, but only to an extent. She's willing to talk, as shown already, but not willing to talk a lot. Simple as that. She doesn't mind meeting new people either; they can be enjoyable once in a while, solely depending on that individual though of course.
Anyway, she soon heard Kenji speak out again. So class is about to start soon, and Reiye can't deny the fact she's looking forward to it. "I see." she said simply, her voice quiet. She's not even sure if she should attend this one. It is just Calculus. Yes it's a senior course, and yes Reiye is a Junior. So what? Doesn't mean she can't take a higher-level math course. Anyway, she can easily catch up without any help from the teacher. She knows most of the stuff already anyway. "What class will you be having?" she suddenly asked, though her voice was the same dull and quiet one like usual. She wasn't sure why she asked that. She wasn't even sure why she chose to speak at all. It just came out. She shrugged the thought off, not really caring about it either way.

"I have..... gym."
Kai spoke the words without much enthusiasm. He can't say he was too excited about going to phys-ed, but then again, it is probably the most enjoyable class of the day. I wonder what she has? Kai asked himself, but seeing as how she seemed to have shrugged the question away, he didn't ask. He smiled a bit. Looks like she's breaking, he thought, looking at her. Before she was silent. Now she's the one asking questions. Oh my god, I'm so cool evil.
"You?" he bounced the question back at her. Seeing as how it was a good way to keep a conversation going. It was like a game of ping pong, really. If you were too slow in coming up with a question, the conversation would die, and one of the two would be the loser.
I doubt she'll go to her class. Most people don't, he thought with a small laugh in his head.

Reiye gave a slight nod at his reply. Physical Education, one of the few courses she doesn't quite mind. Well, she suppose it's only for certain areas of the subject. Track was one of the few things she actually enjoys doing, and one that she does quite well in as well. Anyway, she said nothing until he asked her back. She expected it. It was natural, no?
"Calculus." she stated. It was the only course that's not in her grade level; it's the only subject that's supposed to be taken in her Senior year. She could have chosen between Calculus, Data Management, or Geometry and Algebra. It was an easy decision to make. She'll leave Algeo in her final year of high school while excluding Data altogether. She had always hated business-like courses. Finite math just isn't her thing.
Anyway, the pink-haired female stopped after that simple reply. She had a feeling he might be surprised that she actually 'asked' a question. Well, that wouldn't happen too often. Maybe occasionally, once of twice during the conversation, but who knows. She doesn't have anything more to ask at the moment, and so, she just kept silent. She has a feeling he's thinking about something. Something that would be amusing and fitting to both their characteristics abd personalities. But then again, she can be wrong.

She's a smart one. Smarter than most here, of course.
"Really? As a Junior?" Kai asked, though he already knew the answer. Her reaction was what he was looking for. Would she be modest, with just a simple nod, maybe a smile? Or would she go all loud and proud? No way she'd brag. She barely even talks. The Asian boy sighed, looking the other way with his baggy eyes. It was hard interacting with this girl. Well, half the school, actually. Emo.... he thought, and almost stood up, but instead checked his phone, a sleek black Chocolate from T-Mobile. Ten more minutes until class. Pity.
"Any last words?" he said suddenly, getting up. If she was attracted to him somehow, she'd probably follow. If she was indifferent, like Kai guessed, she'd just stay and offer a "bye," or something of the sort. If she disliked him, Kai would receive a short "good-bye" and a sigh of relief when he turned his back.
Sometimes I think I think too much.

The girl said nothing to respond at first, but soon just gave a small nod, signalling that yes, it is indeed true she's taking Calculus in her Junior year. She could have taken AP Calculus if she wanted to too, but she knew her grades would be lower than what she'd want them to be. Plus, she doesn't really need an Advanced Placement course. So why bother doing more work for a less-than-perfect mark?
Anyway, she watched as Kenji pulled out his cell phone. LG Chocolate. A slide phone. She had to admit she likes that phone, and had even thought about buying that one. She remembered trying to decide between this one and Sony Ericsson's w850i. At the end, the white w850i was the victor. Both of those phones are slide phones too, which she likes more than 'normal' cell phones. She hated the flip ones for some queer reason she can't quite explain. The ones that turn, they don't seem to interest her either.
She took the chance to catch a glimpse of the time being displayed on the screen. Ten minutes till the bell rings. Ten minutes till class starts. So, should she go to Calculus or not? Ah well, she'll see, she supposed.
Kenji then suddenly spoke out. Reiye looked at him after hearing what he said, but instead of saying a quiet 'good-bye' or staying silent, she said something else, posing the same question back at him, but after a short moment of silence, as if thinking. "What about you?" she asked, not really answering his original question. She was just strange like that.
