audible gasp!
Never ignore Eldar....cause no matter what they are doing, they have a point....what may look like random agression will lead to your having a ork warlord frequently lay seige to an essential industrial planet.
To the points that the ill informed will understand though, even if blizzards IP was thier own IP....which it isn't....they would still be crushed by warhammer 40,000.....because WH40K has kept fans over decades, while starcraft is....how many years has it been that they're making a sequal now?

Starcraft Argument:
It set the standard for RTS's from that point forward.
Counter argument: You mean base building, resource gathering, multiple different units, with land and air capabilities? So... Command and Conquer, released in 1995?
Argument:
it is played competitively(sp) throughout the world.
Counter Argument: As is Quake II, Counterstrike, Team Fortress, The Command And Conquer's, Total Annihilation (more on this later)... Games have been competitive since Gaming. This is not new.
Argument: it is on Television in South Korea as a sport, and people can make money from playing starcraft.
Counter Argument: Its South Korea, what else are they going to do with their fucking time?
Argument: Starcraft offers three amazingly balanced, rich, original races that gives an amazingly equal amount of replayability
Counter Argument: Its called Warhammer: 40 000- and its pretty balanced too.
Argument: Its the second best selling PC Game of all time.
Counter Argument: Besides the magic of internet downloading skewing sales, there is none, it's a pretty high selling game.
Argument: Starcraft is the best RTS of all time, period.
Counter Argument: Its been out for a decade and there has been one expension. There have been no modifications by any fan bases. It stole the 'standard' resource collection from C&C, stole the character and race concepts from a TABLE TOP TBS. Let us compare this game with, lets say, Total Annihilation- also called 'The best RTS of all time'
Number of units in Starcraft: Roughly 2-300 per team if extreme.
Total Annihilation: 800-1500 per team, capable of 5 000 units.
Number of modded or newly created units in Starcraft: None.
Number in Total Annihilation: Thousands. The game has been out just as long as Star Craft, and has full modification capabilities.
Starcraft graphics: Purely 2D, Isometric.
Total Annihilation: In 1997, the game was fully 3D, with a full 3D landscape and units, with camera angle turning capabilities.
Starcraft Units: Land, Air.
Total Annihilation: Land, Sea, Air. Submersible land units and vice-versa.
Starcraft Storyline: Hastily placed together and roughly ended in the original, added some in Brood War to shape up the franchise
Total Annihilation: Begins with the end of a millenium upon millenium struggle between two sides, each (now) found out to have a deep, intricate history related to humanity. Poor storyline in the first, much like Starcraft, picked up more so with expansions (that added more than 50-100 missions and maps) and has now finally been solidified in the spiritual sequal, 'Supreme Commander'
Starcraft Resources: Minerals and Vesper, AKA 'Metal and Power', an idea taken from Dune 2 and C&C, with 'Spice and power' and 'Tiberium and power' respectfully.
TA Resources: Metal deposits and power, geniously twisted to be forever added onto in a special 'reserve'. if you are not making anything, your metal constantly increases, and can be stored in metal storage, and same with power. When using too much metal, it is taken away. When building, but not exceeding metal and power limit, you will be able to create infinite amounts of units for hours and hours of battle. Also, the ACU (Commander unit) are able to collect energy and metal from fallen units- unit corpses never leave battlefield until collected for resources.
Conclusion: Starcraft, Overrated. Total Annihilation: Far too underrated.

Starcraft Units: Land, Air. Total Annihilation: Land, Sea, Air. Submersible land units and vice-versa. Starcraft also has submersible land units on the Zerg side. Not that I'm picking sides... I don't play PC RTS. Just table top.

table top FTW
anyway, he's right, they do go underground....but that's realyy more of a stealth feature than what Shamino is talking about.
speaking of which, am I the only person to really piss anyone off in tiberium sun by wiping out an entire base with a sub APC full of engineers?

If GDI is too dumb to cement key structures- then no, you arn't. I have also spent $300 over the course of a year and a half and I am still not done my Space Marines.

That's pretty much expected to happen at least once to anyone serious about the hobby....
and real men cement ALL thier structures.....and a good deal away from thier base as well, just so those bastards can't get close.
Anyway, I'm playing glaactic civilizations 2 right now....
good stuff
