I'm pretty sure people around here probably heard of Julian Beever by now, but for those who haven't, here's some exposure.
Right now, I'm Googling a bunch of his street art and want to see some of the originals myself some day. Looking at it as is hurts my eyes and makes me feel a bit dizzy, but in a good way enough to try comprehending how he did his work (by "stretching" pictures out).

Meanwhile, I feel bad that Simone Legno, designer behind tokidoki... Stuff... Stopped working for LeSportsac. I liked his cute and colorful designs in spite how expensive they were. Not sure when I'll be seeing his work again since they say that he's gonna work on his own now, but I can't wait to get my hands on his designer bags once they're within my reach.
And on top of that, I'm still waiting for America, or Anime Works specifically, to release the rest of Toh Ubukata and Mami Itoh's "Pilgrim Jager". I have a weird feeling that their "rough" style didn't work too well with North American audiences while Italians are caught up to Japan in terms of recency... Of course, that may be because they dig the European-Renaissance-ish feel to the series.
Now, onto other things. Every single day, especially when you're out and about and considering what you're going to and not going to buy, you're bombarded by zillions of bajillion images. Be it an ad or graffiti under a bridge, you see something. What usually stands out to you? When someone says "art", what comes to mind? What's art to you? Do you usually think about the artist behind the work?
There're hundreds of other things I can ask, like if you believe in "color theory" and what kinds of works prompt you into doing things (like renting a game or a DVD, temporarily ignoring whole "info first", with gorgeous piece of box art or just a box with the title on cover, a la _______ "special edition"), but I prefer if others go beyond the surface. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all.
