ooc: This is intended to create tension and have a few people get punched out. I would hope members from both sides of the school will join.

~Crash~
The sound that rung quietly was that of a Hircinian senior, plucked clean from his feet by the powerful student who had, after headbutting him in the face, proceeded to twist and drive him face-first into the wall nearest to him. He was one of a trio, a little group of lads who clearly saw themselves as tough-guys by picking on the student who lay sobbing, curled into the foetal position just behind him.
A Varron student, a young woman. Barely his age, and with the split lip still bleeding from when he had initially seen the now-mauled guy punch her, he simply took a position between the two for the time being. The lad he'd driven into the wall wasn't going to do a damned thing at the moment, not after that hit he just took. The girl, on the other hand, was clutching her face, puffing out quickly on her cheek from where he'd struck her.
"What the FUCK are you doing standing up for those transfers? They're nothing but trouble, even since the riot! All they're doing is bringing Hircine down!"
William offered no answer to the two left standing who spat the remark at him, exceptionally furious that they had been stopped, but even moreso that a fellow 'Hircinian' had been the one to do it. William knew one thing was certain right now, that was that now he had distinctly taken a side in this, he had chosen the minority side in a fight that could all-too-quickly escalate. He showed little concern for them before he took a few paces backward, putting the girl within his eyeshot as he dropped down to a knee beside her and set a palm loosely on her shoulder.
"Are you alright?"
"I...I'm fine. My face hurts, but I'm fine..."
"That's good. You should go to the infirmary and have that cut tended to though, alright?"
"...Why are you helping me...?"
He gave a light smile, his eyes still not moving from the other two as he spoke to her...Mildly amused at their expressions when they saw him smile, he shifted his glance a moment to the girl before scooping an arm under her shoulder and pulling her to her feet slowly.
"...Does it really matter?"
She was stuck for an answer there, it would seem...Her eyes watered, but he suspected it was due to the smack she'd taken from the guy beforehand and the pain from it that was bringing that to her eyes. Giving him a short nod, she began to take a step back to leave through the halls, stopping only for two last words.
"Thank you..."
"Forget it, if you want to thank me then tell people what happened. I doubt this'll be the end of it anytime soon."
She nodded and started off again, moving much quicker as she started in a run by the sound of her footsteps...Giving a much darker glance to the two who, surprisingly, hadn't turned tail with their injured friend and left the area, he took a few steps toward them, stopping to the side of the already dazed student before reaching down, picking him by the back of his shirt and loosely tossing him in a low skid across the floor to their feet.
"Go now and I'll not press the issue any further. He got what he deserved, neither of you lifted a hand to her."
"Only because you showed up before we could, dickhead. You're big and all so you think you can tell us what to do, but you're just a fucking traitor to the school, aren't ya?"
"I've never pledged school pride for this shithole, mate."
"Yeah, you just love the fact these Varron kids are here to cause more trouble than we need. The Pillars have enough trou-"
"Don't start with yer bloody 'pillars', alright? Those pricks aren't worth listening to you ramble on about."
That seemed to do the trick, and the larger of the two, about his height but lacking in build, charged him with an angry yell before swinging at him, punching at him with a big hit that had a lot of nothing in it. The Irishman had weaved through with a quick step before it even neared passing his head, a right hook crashing into the lads chin and turned his feet to jelly. Catching him before he collapsed from the hit, he pushed him back at the other guy who had already charged him, knocking him off balance.
Sighing deeply at the scrambling guy, he stepped forward to grab him by the scruff of his neck.
The fist that struck him between the shoulder-blades had him turn with a growl at the few who had stepped forward at the same time, clearly displeased at the rebellious students antics. After all, not only had he beaten down two Hircine students, he'd done it for the purpose of protecting a Varronite. Despite whatever little mind-games Kurtz had played the last time the students had gotten out of hand, it was inevitable that plenty of them were going to maintain their distrust and immense dislike of the Varron students. Considering Williams questionable position within the Hircine community, such an event like this was so assured of occurrance that he was mildly surprised it had taken this long.
'I hope that Varron girl helps me out a little...This is going to get a lot worse before it gets any better...'
The thought stepped into his head just as another right hook snapped out, coming upward a little this time as it struck the kid who had punched him a moment ago in the cheek, knocking him off his feet slightly and sending him staggering to the side with the force of the punch. Hircine or Varron, it was really quite simple for him. Right now, Hircine were in the wrong, they were the ones attacking, and through whatever chain of events people would want to believe, it was the home turf who had thrown the first blow.
The question was, however, just who would throw the last?
