All right, I'd like to get a few minor announcements out there for all to know about, just so that they can think this all through.
Due to the odd semester system that was configured from a choice made back on the old Xin board nearly a year ago, the school's year will end sometime in mid December, just before Christmas break. This came thanks to a choice a year ago that graduating should be instituted, and instead of waiting until June, our old Admin decided to go with December/January as the graduation.
Thus, that means that all characters who are graded as Seniors will be graduating - that is, however, unless you would prefer them to be "held back a year" because of their misdemeanors or so forth - believe me, if you want it, we can figure it out. However, none the less, no matter what happens, all characters will be shifted up a grade, and Seniors will be expected to graduate. So those of you who are Seniors, you have about 2 months before your characters get ready to walk across that platform. So take this time to figure out exactly what your character's destiny is, be it college in San Fran, college elsewhere, a local job, or just strolling around like a bum. And again, you can always pull off the "held back" card if you so choose.
Now that we have that little factor out of the way, I'd like to continue this as both a statement of what will occur in the next year and what can very will occur.
After the Christmas break is over, we will likely start the board's new school year either in early January or mid January, depending on how many people are back from their vacations. This new school year will now begin without a school Captain; since Darren Blayne will have been (expected) to graduate in December, this will mean that the title is completely open to an entirely new person. At the same time, the Principal is expected to not directly use his influence to appoint a new Captain in his place; he will likely have those he prefers, however, he will inadvertently leave it to be decided as he usually has. Whoever wins out as Captain throughout the various chaotic fights for the title deserves the right to be deemed Captain.
Now, without a Captain as the head of the student body at the start of the year, this will mean a lot of things. One of those factors include that, without a proper student authority, the population will be completely open to return to the chaotic mass that it has been classically known for. The staff will have a more difficult time controlling, preventing, and ending fights across the school, and the Deanship will be forced to only fight those students that attack teachers, and even then, they will likely struggle. This will also lead to an potential rise in gang violence and recruitment, such as the infamous Revelation gang.
To be blunt: think of this as the ample chance for the board to "return" to what Xin as a flash was known for: terrible, bloody violence, with plenty of action and plenty of combat. However, for those of you who are veterans of the old board, also think of this as a chance to return to the days when the only board storylines were background events that people chose to follow, not were forced to follow, and that roleplayers were easily capable of leading their own lives and major events on their own. Thus, no preset or planned storyline is in place. The board will simply be as Xin has been known.
Now, I'd like to get this across before getting to the final point of this thread. Any of those who know members of the stat boards, it would be appreciated if you could find ways of "encouraging" their members to make alternate characters on Hircine if they are able to. Our board has grown a bit stagnant of late, as I am certain many of you know, and while I am sure this new change of atmosphere will help fix this, it would be an amazing factor if the writers and roleplayers of PHS #552, PHS #259, Mugen Hall, Hallen High, and Ballaton Academy were invited to join our board if they so wished. I know they have been open to join whenever they wished before, but this new change, this new "revival" if you will, may be what it takes to convinc them to join the realistic, pure roleplaying experience that is Hircine High.
And now that our public service announcements are out of the way, and you all have these in mind, I would like to ask.
With all this in your thoughts, what do you see as the future of the board? What would you, a member of the board, like to not only see in the next semester, but also participate or even lead in? Those who will be graduates, feel free to ask or spread your ideas, and those who have potential storylines, feel free to tell them. This is an open discussion, no debate even necessary, so please, without hesitation, feel free to say your piece. You are members of this board absolutely, and you should be able to tell the Staff, and each other, your opinion.
