And now, after all my hard work of gaining suck- I mean, friends in Cali, I’ve to start all over again in this place… Dollar thought with a sigh as he stood outside Hircine High. Dollar had spent about the past 6 or more years in California building up good relationships with people, especially those that can aid him whenever he needs help with things such as lunch money, transportation, street credit and protection. Now, he regrets that his folks had to move to San Francisco, making him waste all his efforts. However, that’s only what he told himself. He was trying to toughen himself up. In truth, Dollar really liked his friends back in California and honestly missed them…
Instead of using the front entrance like most other students, Dollar found an open chemistry lab window and climbed in. He never liked using front entrances. It was what everyone else did and Dollar liked doings stuff that people don’t usually do. It made him feel special in some sort of totally insignificant way, but at least it made his day. From inside the chemistry lab onwards, he made his way into the hallways and ran through his mental checklist of things to do and accomplish in Hircine High.
Mental Checklist
1) Get to know as many people as possible, preferably all – keep good relationships with all of them.
2) Gain the trust of all the teachers.
3) Keep all girls and all pretty boys in at least a “more than friends” relationship
4) Get a girlfriend or a pretty boyfriend.
Now let’s see… What do I have to do at the moment? Dollar pondered. He figured that the first thing he should do was to get himself settled in and adjusted with the school. First of all, he needed a locker. Then, he needed a full tour of the school. After that, he had to know what the school had to offer. Lastly, he must obtain all sorts of information regarding the school. Miscellaneous stuff. Problem was: How to get himself settled in?
5 minutes later, Dollar was standing by a main staircase with an A4 piece of paper stuck to his shirt using cellophane tape. On the paper was scribbled roughly with a marker: “Hi, I’m new. Can I get some help settling in?” Whenever people walked towards him, he would stand in front of them and smile, making sure all the while that they notice the paper on his chest.
