"You really piss me off, you know that?"
Hyunie stared at the ground, clutching her books tightly against her chest, a small visible frown on her face. Apparently, she pissed him off by not doing anything at all. He was someone who didn't understand why Hyunie just took the insults from other people so lightly. It frustrated him that Hyunie - if she didn't have such a low profile - could be an easy target for bullies to pick on. Although he and Hyunie never really spoke to each other, he watched from the sidelines as the only words Hyunie ever said in school were answers to questions and the phrase, "I apologize". She said them so many times, he began to think that those words had no significant meaning behind them.
"I apolo-"
"Keep your chin up!"
He cut her apology off, and Hyunie kept her mouth clamped shut, her eyes still directed at her shoes, slowly lifting her head. It was obvious he was very frustrated with her, though at the same time, he looked as if he were in deep thought. While this awkward silence filled the air, she wondered when he'd let her go; school's been over for quite some time now. The hallways were empty, making this scenario a bit...weird. None the less, when he lifted his hand for no apparent reason, she blinked twice in confusion. When his hand turned into a fist, she stood still, wondering what he was going to do. When his fist launched forward, Hyunie had barely any time to react, but she managed to jump off to the side, his fist sliding through her silk like hair.
He seemed surprised; he planned on stopping himself right before it would hit her jaw, but when he saw her shifting figure, he went ahead with it. He was taken back that this girl knew how to defend herself, and when he turned to look at the girl, she had her back turned to him, and was walking away.
Hyunie, once she figured out she was a good enough distance away from the stranger - who was actually in her English class - sat down against some lockers and set her books off to the side. She was slightly exhausted from the school day, along with the gym period where the physical education teacher was absent, and the substitute merely made them run the whole 90 minutes.
Giving a small sigh, she heard tapping noises not too far ahead, and she hoped it wasn't that one guy from the English class. She had enough trouble for the day.

That day, Jahova had fallen behind in school for one primary reason. He was busy thinking. Lame excuse isn't it? But, if you really thought about it, Jahova was just that kind of person. Back in Varron, he would spend his entire days just lying idly in the sun and thinking as he watched the clouds roll by. Of course, in those days, his thought primarily revolved around his utter loneliness as well as his profound philosophies. But instead of the grass in Varron, he had a Calculus class.
The only sound he could really hear was the tapping of his feet on the solid ground and something of a conversation a ways away. He lifted his head up and smiled, pushing his glasses up onto his nose and shifting the guitar on his back. He ran his hands back through his hair and shifted the sides so they'd still cover his ears, caring very little that the burnt, right side of his face was visible. He thought anyone who focused solely on it, wasn't worth his time anyway.
God had very generously compensated him for this abhorrence which covered his body, blessing him with a wonderful singing voice and overall music talent. He sang softly as he wandered through the halls, just a combination of la's, de's, and da's... but, through its simplicity, it was beautiful thanks to his voice.
Soon enough he saw a girl sitting down by some lockers... she seemed tired and frustrated. So, Jahova, in his benevolence, proceeded over and knelt down beside her, smiling. His eyes expressed the same joy... but deep behind them was an ever-present loneliness. He said softly to her, "Hey... need a friendly ear?"

When the footsteps began to get louder, she looked up and saw a guy with a guitar crouch down in front of her and asked if she needed a friendly ear. To tell the truth, there was really nothing Hyunie had to talk about, and because she was considered those shy types of people, it was proven to be difficult for her to speak freely. Growing up, she never spoke unless spoken to, and even then, it was easier to talk because her mother would force words out of her. Whether it be a laugh or a smile, her life was - as Hyunie found out - a lie. Parents would brag about Hyunie and her "piano playing skills", and "complains" that she plays piano for hours and won't stop, when in reality, she is forced to play the piano, and not stop until she memorizes the piece.
When the person crouched down in front of her, she immediately scolded herself. The reason? Because it was Korean tradition to greet someone formally with a small bow, and here she was, slumped against some lockers. Ah, it was too late now though. When she looked up, she was met with friendly eyes, and a smile. They say smiling is contagious, as well as other things, and Hyunie, too, found herself cracking a small smile.
"..I... I don't think I do... I think.. I think I'm just tired and..stressed out."
Stressed out? Most definitely, without a doubt. Although her dad was more...free-willing than her mom, he was still quite a bit strict when it came to education and her learning. She was taking difficult classes for a Sophomore, and was struggling, yet managed to keep a solid A, just to keep her parents happy and content. Tired? To bluntly put it: Yes. Because of her harder classes, it required her to spend more time on homework and studying, which meant late nights and sometimes even all-nighters if there was a test the next day. However, she was used to it, and the bags under her eyes started to disappear, the look of exhaustion was well on her face, along with her thinning body. She ate, don't get her wrong, she loves food, but she didn't have the time for it. Actually, she rarely has the time for anything. After school, she usually goes home and does homework, study, and by the time she's done, it's three in the morning, so she goes straight to bed, wakes up three hours later to take a shower and then get ready for school.
Sometimes, her father would come home early from work and force her to eat and study at the same time, but that method isn't very effective for her, partially because she's focused more on her food than her studies.
"I'm Hyunie Park..."
She introduced herself because her mother also told her it isn't good to talk to strangers. Though her tone of voice when speaking was very quiet, and almost hesitant, it was still a bit loud enough for him to hear.
And the burn mark on his face? She saw it. She didn't care though, because her friend from SAT-prep class had a huge birth mark that used to cover half her face, but was now disappearing, so you could say that Hyunie simply did not care. And yes, she had friends - many - from the SAT-prep class, but that was only because the friendship started out forced, from their parents, along with the teacher, but in the end, somehow, the hostility melted.

He nodded whenever he heard the reason behind her melancholy appearance, his smile never fading. "Stress can do that to you..." He turned his guitar around and sat down beside her, completely nonchalant about the fact that they were sitting in front of lockers in the middle of the school.
He smiled a bit broader when he heard her name... Hyunie Park... To that he replied, "What a lovely name... Forgive me, but mine pales in comparison. It's Jahova, Jahova Kruschev. Ugly, isn't it?" He chuckled a bit at that.
Jahova wasn't always this bright and optimistic... why, he remembered in his past when he would constantly try and kill himself. But, he had come to terms with the reality that... life isn't always wonderful. But, now, to him, it was. Even the lows, even the hardships... they go hand in hand with the joys, making them just as beautiful.
"Don't let it get you down though... life is full of hardships... and glories. Somewhere in YOUR world, the sun is shining..." The aura that came from him was one of... genuine compassion... and he always seemed to be thinking of something, very thoughtful eyes. But, if one were to look deeply into them... they would see something beyond his joy, optimism, and wisdom... they would see a surprising loneliness. Jahova was a hopeless romantic... never had a relationship... and constantly yearned for it.

Jahova Kruschev. No, not ugly. Unique, especially his first name. Jahova. She merely smiled and shook her head; although she wasn't much of a laughing person, she did smile from time to time, and the aura he gave off was soothing, or maybe it was because she was half awake? If it weren't for him, she probably would've fallen asleep right against the lockers, which wasn't a good idea, considering this was a school of..well, fighters. Though, now that she wasn't alone, she could manage to stay awake. His words cut off her train of thought and gave off some sort of encouragement to her, yet at the same time, she was tired of studying all the time...but because she's lived her life with nothing but studying, she couldn't imagine a her life without it.
The sun is shining somewhere in her life, huh? Leaning her head back against the lockers, she couldn't help but wonder where her sun is. She was always content with her life; as long as her parents were happy, she was happy. She felt as if she were living a life for them, instead of fufilling her own but... Was there really anything she could do about it? Her eyes closed by themselves, momentarily forgetting that Jahova was beside her, and thought about how her life could be if she wasn't always studying...or she tried to think about it.
Opening her eyes again, she turned to look at Jahova.
"...what made you stay after school?"
Usually, she would keep quiet, but because she was curious, and his unusual happiness amused her, she had to strike up some sort of conversation.

He wanted to look away... but he couldn't stop looking to her. His heart started to race and he finally looked down, a little embarrassed. He smirked and chuckled a bit at the thought that came to his head, which was what someone would think if they saw them sitting here. Beauty and the Beast probably. It may sound self-esteemless... but he didn't care. He knew, in the eyes of strangers, he was displeasing. This girl was an acception though, and it was wonderful.
Why did he feel like this? It was different, far better than the things he had previously experienced. What could it mean? So many questions came to his mind... but then again, it just gave him more fodder to think about tonight... then again... this was something that would haunt him for a long time.
She asked him why he was staying after. He closed his eyes and sighed, "You'll probably think it stupid... but... I just got lost in my thoughts and idly wandered around. I didn't fully realize that school was over until just recently... and so here I am." He chuckled some, "What about you? Why are you here?"
She wasn't even getting near his philosophies yet... and probably wouldn't until they became closer. But, he DID turn his guitar around to his lap and started to idly play a tune. It wasn't anything complex... but it was absolutely beautiful none-the-less.

Though she didn't say it, she didn't think it was stupid to walk around lost in thoughts, not at all, because there were times when Hyunie herself got lost into her own thoughts, and eventually space out. She understood what he was talking about; to idlly walk around, though when Hyunie walked around when spaced out, she tended to bump into many people. There was a time, however, where she managed to walk home without trouble.
"Someone wanted to talk to me after class.."
She let her words stop there. The guy who she spoke to previously seemed angry, and she knew why; he thought that she never stood up for herself, and maybe that was true. Actually, that is true; Hyunie just didn't like the idea of being helpless, so this was probably just a case of denial.
When he began to play his guitar, it felt like a lullaby to the Sophomore girl, and she felt herself slipping away from consciousness. It started to get harder to keep her eyes open, so she just let them slide closed on her own. No, she wasn't sleeping, but merely listening intently to the beautiful sound that was coming from his guitar. Though, it certainly looked as if she were sleeping, and if he stopped playing his guitar, she probably will.

Whenever she mentioned her reason for staying, he felt an unexpected twang of jealousy... which he hadn't felt in a very long time. But, he didn't make it obvious... especially since the thought was quickly lost to her reaction to his playing.
It warmed his heart to see that he was making her relax, she really needed it. So, he didn't stop, completely in her service in this moment. He smiled and started to sing softly.
Let's say sunshine for everyone But as far as I (??) can remember We've been migratory animals Living under changing weather
Someday we will foresee obstacles Through the blizzard, through the blizzard Today we will sell our uniform Live together
We played hide&seek in waterfalls We were younger
His voice was also beautiful to go with the guitar. When combined, they made a beautiful song that rivaled that of the angels. The whole time, he would watch her reaction...

Her right fore finger tapped on the tiled floors to the beat of the song he was singing. It was absolutely beautiful, his voice, along with the guitar. Although she didn't realize it, she felt herself getting sleepier, and sleepier, because his song was like a lullaby. Why was he singing though? Was he really that comfortable to sing, even though they had just met not even ten minutes ago? And why did Hyunie "speak freely" to him? Well, close to it. Usually, she never gave out her name, nor any other information unless someone asked for it. Though all he asked was if she needed a friendly ear; a simple "yes" or "no" would have been a good enough answer, but she went on about why she didn't need one.
And she stuttered.
What was this? This feeling where she felt absolutely comfortable around him? That she could fall asleep on the spot, and not have to worry about being brutally raped by other students that could be in the area? This foreign feeling, one she did not understand.
And so she was troubled, because she was confused, and Hyunie Park disliked being confused.
You'd think someone as smart as Hyunie would be able to realize what was going on, considering she was going through puberty, Hyunie could have realized easily of what it was.
But she didn't.
None the less, a smile appeared on her face, and when the music, stopped, her eyes blinked open. Though it was evident that she was extremely tired and exhausted, she decided that staying up just a while longer would be more rewarding than falling asleep.
"Beautiful.."

Jahova finished the song and smiled, "Beautiful? Thank you..." He then followed that with a thought, "But not nearly as beautiful as you." Why did he think that? He smiled to himself
"I'm just glad to see you relaxed, a bard lives to serve the ears of others..." He chuckled a bit and, in reality, he was very relaxed with her as well. He could probably stay here all day and wouldn't think it a waste. Perhaps she was the reason he felt compelled to come here. But then again, perhaps not. He was very confused, but didn't let it show on his face.
"Hey Hyunie... would you like to go for a walk and maybe... get something to eat or drink?" There was a pause and then he blushed a bit, embarrassed. Could this be considered asking her for a date? That wasn't his original intention... just trying to relax her and let her enjoy the day... but then again, who knows that it may turn into?

Breath caught in her throat, her cheeks flushed to a light shade of pink. Although Hyunie has heard a compliment from many people before, she was still flattered to hear she was beautiful. Not pretty, but beautiful. Back when she lived in Korea, it was automatic that when a guest comes, they compliment their son/daughter about how handsome/pretty she is. Same went if you go to their house; first it was greetings, then compliments, then food, and fruit for dessert. The "kids" would be in a separate room when "dessert" was being eaten, and depending on how social the kids are, they either play with each other, or act as if the other doesn't exist.
Her parents would often boast about how smart she is, though not when they went to this one guys particular house. He was a natural genius; although their parents never outwardly boasted, it was evidant that he was. Rubix cubes, paintings, straight A's, honor rolls, etc., etc. Her parents would compare him to her all the time, purposely wondering outloud why she couldn't be more like him. Why can't she be smarter, etc., etc. He wasn't exactly social either, but had many friends who looked up at him as a leader of some sort.
Hell, she wouldn't be surprised if he turned into the next president, but, whatever.
When he asked a particular question, the first thought that came up to her was: A date? Her heart sped up, and she felt like she could hear her own heart beating. But that wasn't possible, was it? So it had to be an illusion, right? Her face flushed into a darker shade of pink as she lowered her head and gave him her answer.
"Yes, I'd love to."
A break from studying shouldn't be that bad, right? She placed a hand over her heart, thinking maybe she'd be able to slow it down.

His eyes lit up and the smile on his face widened from ear to ear. Nobody had ever really accepted his dates before. He stood up and turned his guitar around so that it was on his back and pointing down to the ground. Then, extended a hand to help her up. "Thank you for blessing me with your presence this evening... I hope not to disappoint you..."
This moment was nostalgic, better than the greatest symphony, and for Jahova, that wasn't something lightly said. He wondered how much of a freak his father would think of him now. He remember how his father said that Jahova would die alone, he would never find love beyond his mother. He even said that God himself resented him, hence his facial deformity at birth which just got worse due to that plane crash. Jahova could just cry... and then suffer through the inevitable beating that would come his way.
But, that was quickly pushed out of his thoughts... now he wondered what the future would hold between them. He pondered quickly where he should take her. Nowhere TOO fancy, they weren't dressed for that and they just met. But nowhere TOO cheap either. He didn't have too much money... so he hoped to impress with the walk and talk...

"..I have a feeling, Jahova, that I will not be disappointed.."
Softly said. She loved his name; Jahova. Giving a light smile, she accepted his hand to help her up. The warmth of his hand was comforting, and she almost didn't want to let go, but forced herself too. If she didn't, the thought of him thinking that she's a freak crossed her mind; usually, she doesn't think such uneccessary things, but it just happened. She still didn't understand this feeling though. Coming from a very sheltered life, she had not witnessed the feeling of love or a crush personally. Of course, she read it in books and saw it in movies, but the description of what is written and shown felt completely different; as if more exaggerated.
Grabbing her backpack, she slung it over both shoulders before picking up her AP Biology book. She had some studying to do tonight, but wasn't sure if she'll actually get it in, considering she was quite tired. Giving a small yawn, which she covered her mouth with her hand when she did so, she lightly shook her head before turning to Jahova.
"..hmm...shall we?"

(ooc: sorry this is short, but... as you know, i'm making a follow up in "The streets")
The feeling of her hand in his... felt so much righter than that of his guitar. Again, something not lightly said. Like her, he never wanted to let it go... but did so out of not wanting to seem too awkward, his smile never faded, not for a second. Nothing could spoil this wonderful day.
"Alright, and so we're off!" He walked out of the school with her and smiled up at the bright sun and beautiful day.
