Mayon stood in the far end of the gym, doing nothing but stand and stare at the passers by. The men and women in the gym were none of his concern. The only one he cared for was his opponent. He didn’t know who it was, but that didn’t matter to him. He was ready to show that he did have the power to win and not just watch.
Mayons mind was set on why he was here, what he planned to do. It was nothing else to him. The fighting and winning was all just objectives to get to his one goal. He wanted to prove he was strong. He wanted to show the crowd that he wasn’t just a person, but one that could do something remarkable. He wasn’t necessarily trying to prove to the others that he was more than he looked like, but he was trying to prove to himself that he could do this. Mayon eyes slowly turned to the rings, which would keep the entrants confined inside by ropes. There wouldn’t be any running away and the fact that some of the participants wouldn’t show mercy made the battle all more dangerous.
Mayon slowly walked up as he heard one of the pillars begin to speak. Mayon didn’t care for the talk, but he knew it was customary. He walked up to his assigned ring and entered it. He turned his head to Kurtz, who began his short speech. Mayon stood inside the ring. He listened, waited and stared blankly across from him, where his opponent would stand. This battle would decide if he truly did have the right to be in this tournament. The other fights would decide if he was one skilled enough to make it farther.
Mayon was ready...

OOC: Sorry for the late reply, I was out of town for the weekend. Thank God that I came when I did though...
Dante yawned and started stretching. This was it. This was his chance to prove that he wasn't weak, that he wasn't useless. And he thought that he could do it.
Calm down, Dante told himself, Don't get too excited, don't get too cocky. That's how you keep losing. Just keep a calm head, calm head...
What he told himself didn't work though, it rarely did. He could barely contain his excitement. He was wearing some grey sweatpants and a black shirt that was a bit too big for him. And to top it all off, his outfit was complete with a pair of fingerless gloves.
He heard Kurtz the Pillar announce the fight, and he stepped towards the ring. He didn't know who his opponent was, and with his luck it was probably a master fighter. Great... Dante thought as he observed the ring, A confined space, not really my style, but it'll have to do...
He stepped in the ring, and to his surprise, he saw that his opponent was the guy he saw earlier at the riot. "Hey..." Dante said, "You ready?"
Dante looked up at the roaring audience. He hoped that Rebecca, or at least one of his other friends would be here to watch him. Then he cleared his mind. He was now calm, and he WOULD win...

Mayon looked at his competitor as he entered the ring. He recognized the face of the boy from the incident that had occurred in the school. Dante Williams was his name and Mayon was pleased to be able to fight him. He took a good look at Dante to get an approximate idea of whom he was fighting, and how they may possibly fight.
First he took note of the build. Whether Dante was skinny, or muscular came into affect along with his height. Mayon took into fact that Dante had a smallish stature. With his small body, he could dodge a little better than most. Mayon wasn’t completely sure if he had a large amount of speed or stamina yet, but a couple punches would soon tell him that. If he attacked once or twice he was sure he could see the extent of the fighter and figure out the best way to continue.
Mayon then took into account the clothes that Dante was wearing. Mayon smirked at what Dante was wearing. Sweat pants and a baggy shirt seemed like something that may not be best worn at an official fight. Mayon would use the looseness of Dante’s clothes later in the fight to help himself win. Mayon felt that it would be easy to get a grasp on such clothes and figured it could help him immobilize Dante.
Mayon himself was wearing a red muscle shirt that was close to his body, making it harder to grab. His blue gym pants where just baggy enough for him to move around, but he did his best to keep them as close to his legs as possible. The diameter of the pant legs could make a difference.
Mayon looked at Dante and then got into a basic stance. He bent his legs slightly and stuck both arms out in front of his with his elbows bent slightly. He decided he would give the pleasure of starting to Dante.
“Yes, I am ready. But you get to start.”

As Dante saw Mayon get into his fighting stance, he sneered as Mayon said, “Yes, I am ready. But you get to start.” "Oh gee, thanks..." Dante HATED going first when fighting. He was never good at it and it never worked out. He started to observe Mayon. He was tall, pretty tall. So Dante could only assume that since he wasn't knocked out by Kurtz's team at the school at the riot. He wasn't a graduate, so he was probably a Senior, like that mattered anyway. But he did look kind of big for his age, so he was probably a lot slower than Dante, but he also probably relied on his raw strength then.
He shrugged, then noticed that his shirt was pretty loose, unlike Mayon's. Not the smartest idea, but then again, it was either that or come to the tournament without a shirt on. If his shirt really proved to be a difficulty, he would take it off later.
"Okey-dokey then," Dante muttered to himself, "Let's start this..."
He got into fighting stance. He put his bent arms in front of him, squatted down just a tad, and swayed to gain momentum, if he really was going to strike first he would need momentum. Also, if Mayon just suddenly decided to attack, Dante would be in an easy position to dodge and counter-attack.
He sighed as he got ready to attack, "You just HAD to pick me to strike first, didn't you?" Oh well... it wouldn't be that bad if he attacked first. But it would count against him if something bad happened...

Mayon didn’t care for all the talk Dante was dishing out. The only good thing about the time taken up by it was the fact that Dante was in a stance, but Mayon wasn’t going to wait for him to attack anymore. He was becoming impatient and he was sure people wanted them to start this fight. Mayon stared Dante in the eyes and his smirk faded. He had a dull look, one of annoyance and he looked a little more ready to go on the offensive.
“The fact is your taking too long and I don’t have the patience to wait for you.”
Mayon stepped off on his right foot and dashed on each foot, making quick, short paces, making sure to keep as much weight on them as possible as to save stamina. He moved quickly towards Dante and once close enough, he extended his right arm in a fist, ducking downwards as to stop any initial punches to the upper body and shot back up for an upper cut into the chin of Dante.
Mayon planned it so that if Dante dodged it by stepping back, Mayon would perform a clockwise leg sweep by planting his left hand on the ground and swinging his legs to take out Dante’s. If Dante dodged with a jump, Mayon planned on sending out his left hand to grab his leg before he got too far or high form where Mayon was standing. He would then throw Dante back onto the ground and then send a heavy right punch into his chest on the ground knocking the wind out of his and possibly knocking him out of consciousness.

A meagerly accomplished Steve Barzahd strolls to the ringside, preparing to observe the fight for which of these two fighters would get the opportunity to compete with Alkaiser himself. Having already completed his match, he decided to use this time to observe his potential opponents for the next round of competition. "Oh goody, we're just getting under way..." he rejoices to himself.
As the talking ended the one called Mayon lunged in to begin the real fighting. "Wooohooo!" calls Barzahd, looking to get excited about something here at the arena. If this show proved to be lame, he might just elect to go back home and catch some extra Z's after all. He prayed such a thing would not happen.

“The fact is your taking too long and I don’t have the patience to wait for you.”
As Mayon took his first step towards Dante, he smiled. He WAS planning to prolong the first strike, but boring Mayon to do it instead was better.
He stepped right in front of Dante, ducking first, just in case. Smart move, then shot up to punch Dante in the chin. Again a smart move. It seemed that Mayon has taken extra measures to make sure Dante got hit, and if Dante dodged, there were many ways in which Dante could get hit judging by Mayon's position.
Dante calmly took a deep breath. Mayon forgot the fact that he was still right in front of Dante, so if he couldn't dodge, he could just easily counter-attack.
Dante shifted his weight to his left leg, first of all getting off Mayon's attack. For a while at least. And this recent move also gave him the chance for his actual attack.
He simply attempted to knee Mayon in the gut. Nothing more complicated. With Mayon's forward momentum, there was no human way he could just stop or jump backwards. And since he was so close to Dante, there was no way he could just move to the side. Dante had to hit something, and that's what he planned to do...

'I'm late, I'm late." The only words haunting Rebeccas mind as she ran forth. She knew Dante was in the latest tornament, she wanted to offer him support, and did not want him to be injured again. First time they met, he was on crutches from a fight. She turned a few corners swiftly. It was said he was fighting someone named 'Mayon'.
She looked to her right, to see a crowd forming around the two contestants, seeing Dante throught the merciless crowd. She squeezed through, wanting to get a better look, managing to slip through with not much difficulty, there they were. It seemed they had not even started. Over the raucus chants of the spectators, not much of the trash talk exchanged could be heard.
She watched intently, as Mayon moved in, trying to his Dante in the chin. Rebecca cringed slightoy, not wanting to think of the prospect Dante would become hurt. She still watched, as Dante dodged. He then attempted to counter attack. Rebecca knew little about fighitng, but it was quite smooth. She watched intently. She would never tell Dante she was there, it would only put him off. She stood at one corner quietly.
'Come on Dante...'

Mayon had to act quickly as Dante had outmaneuvered him. It was surprising, as Mayon didn’t see Dante as a threat. Now he seemed a little more like a fighter than he did before. Dante seemed to make it so that Mayon could dodge the knee into his gut and along with his right hand in the air, Mayon didn’t have much choice in dodging. Mayon was scared though. He stayed calm and collectively and moved swiftly before Dante could do some real damage.
Mayon used his free left hand and centered it in front of his abdominal area with his palm facing out. As Dante kept his weight on his left leg, his right knee made contact with the palm of Mayons left hand. Mayon grasped the knee of Dante and with the force of the attack he pushed off it sending him back far enough for Dante not to hit. The force of the hit made it easy for Mayon to gain distance and keep himself from losing energy. He wasn’t going to lose to some punk.
Mayon was a small jump away from Dante so a quick and powerful attack seemed best. He surveyed Dante, taking in more information based on what just happened. He noticed that Dante was quick on his feet for one thing, and his stamina didn’t seem to deplete very quickly. Mayon still believed he could win however.
Mayon was face to face with Dante, but lightly pushed off his right foot to his side, putting him on the right side of Dante. Mayon landed on his left foot and pushed off with more force straight at the side of Dante. He approached Dante quickly and with his right hand, he grabbed onto Dante’s right shoulder. Gripping it, and with the force of the jump/ dash Mayon just completed, he pulled his shoulder towards himself keeping himself in the air until he reached the back of Dante. Mayon landed on his right foot and before he landed on his left, he shifted his right foot onto his heel and, with his back to the right shoulder of Dante, spun forcefully clockwise sending the front part of his foot towards the back on Dante’s head.
Dante was quick, but Mayon doubted he had enough reaction time to dodge his attack, but Mayon right arm was free, and if Dante tried to dodge to the right, Mayon would grab onto Dante’s arms and plant his foot on the ground. He would then pull Dante towards him and throw a full punch at Dante’s face.
If Dante dodged by moving forward, Mayon would do a full spin and land pacing Dante. He would then dash at Dante, only to send a quick kick into the back of Dante’s right knee. Throwing Dante off balance, Mayon would grab the left side of Dante’s head with both his hand and throw him down on his now weaker right side, sending Dante’s head into a heavy crash on the ground possibly incapacitating him.
Dante wouldn’t be able to grab Mayons leg with his right arm, but if he tried to with his left hand, Mayon would quickly shift his attack and send his foot back down at Dante’s arm, hitting it and throwing him off. He would then send a punch straight into the back of Dante’s neck. If Dante did somehow grab his leg with his left hand, Mayon would use it as leverage, jumping up and hitting the other side of Dante’s head. He would then bring his foot back down and pry his left foot from Dante’s grasp, as the jolt would surely stop him for a moment or incapacitate him.

Remember... Dante thought while carrying out his attack, there are no emotions in the ring. Just fight, don't feel anything... He was about to hit Mayon when suddenely he was surprised when he dodged his knee and grabbed it, then pushed it back.
Dante stayed nonchalant. No need to get overemotional. He got his knee down, and regained balance quickly. But by that time, he already felt Mayon's hand on his shoulder, hoisting Mayon up.
Dante turned around just in time to see Mayon's foot come straight towards his head. Smart kid. Dante thought while smiling for a split-second.
“Don’t think you have everything covered, because I am not willing to lose.”
Dante smirked, Of course he's 'not willing to lose'. That's why he's here. Some smart kid...
Then he simply ducked to dodge Mayon's foot, he felt the wind whistling over his head. He didn't even predict me ducking, really smart. A genius in fact...
Staying low, he stuck out his right foot and made a small arc with his foot, attempting to sweep Mayon and send him crashing down. Mayon couldn't dodge just by jumping, Dante was making too high of an arc, and Mayon couldn't jump to the side, because Dante was making sure that his sweep went ALL of the way, so it would go to both of Mayon's sides.
"Listen, punk," snarled Dante as he was carrying out his attack, "Just shut up, okay? Of course you're not willing to lose. Thhat's obvious enough... Hell, do you think ANYONE in this tournament is just 'willing to lose'? I thought not..."

Mayons eyes caught Dante as he ducked, dodging Mayons attack. Dante moved his right leg in an arch sweep, planning on taking Mayon down. Mayons left leg was still coming down as Dante swung his leg and Mayon knew he couldn’t just dodge it in a normal way. He saw that he wouldn’t be able to dodge from side to side and he wouldn’t be able to jump backwards because the arc in Dante’s attack was too far out. Unfortunately for Dante, Mayon found a large opening.
Mayon stopped his left leg from coming down and jumped straight into the air. He tilted himself in mid air slightly so that as the sweep past Mayon while he was in the air, Mayons foot began the decent back to the floor. Mayons left foot landed on the ground and he used it to push himself forwards towards Dante who was still in his own attack giving Mayon the perfect chance to strike.
Mayon had thrown himself towards Dante, and with his height, and Dante’s crouching, Mayon landed on his left foot once again, closer to Dante this time, and threw his right knee at Dante’s face. As Mayon saw it, there wasn’t much chance of Dante blocking or dodging. Crouching made it so that it would be harder for Dante to move and he wouldn’t be able to block with his feet as they were crouched as well. His leg had also completed a sweep, which Mayon believed gave him the advantage. If Dante blocked with his hands, the force of Mayons attack would send Dante toppling over, giving Mayon the chance to attack with stronger force.
“If you are that unwilling to lose, lets see you take this attack.”

Mayon jumped, and spinned while in the air. Regretfully, that meant he dodged Dante's sweep. He landed right next to Dante, and attempted to knee his face.
“If you are that unwilling to lose, lets see you take this attack.”
Dante sighed, this kid just didn't get it. But he was pretty smart, Dante didn't have enough freedom to do anything in his current position. With one of his legs extended, and the rest of him being crouched.
All he did was block the attack with his hands in front of his face when the attack came. The force of the attack was not that good, due to the fact that Mayon had just jumped, and had no time for gaining momentum, the momentum of Mayon's attack was at a minimum.
Though when the knee impacted with Dante's hand, Dante grabbed it for a while, and pushed it back some, hopefully making Mayon lose some balance. But it also sent Dante back a bit, not really a biggie. But still, it hurt Dante's pride that it was Mayon to actually hit the opponent first. But Dante was planning to make up for that later.
Quickly, Dante got up, there was no time to waste. He quickly jumped up, getting out of his vulnerable position. Then he dashed as quickly as he could to get to the side of Mayon. Hopefully, Mayon lost his balance earlier, and Dante planned to take advantage of the fact, and go to Mayon's right side quickly and feint a knee to Mayon's kidney, then hopefully, that would leave an even bigger opening so that Dante could elbow Mayon whereever was open.
Hope this works... Dante thought, If anything, I don't want another blunder like before...

Admin Intervention:
I was asked to take a look at this move, and I need to pass a small judgement here.
The kick you're attempting Dante, is almost impossible. Even with momentum and other speed into the equation, Mayons knee is being thrown OVER your sweep. That will account for about 3/4 of a second before it strikes/lands against/is blocked. Completing an arc of a sweep in that space of a time limit is really out of the question. I understand what you're TRYING to do, but you simply wouldn't have the time to do it.
An edit will be needed for this.

Firstly, no more OOC posts. -I- am the only person besides Kurtz who should be posting OOC in these threads.
Secondly, the principle reaction is that to the knee. By proxy, the entire move needs to be changed, so unbunch yer panties, Mayonaise.
Dante, if the changes are made then I don't see it counting against you. The fights aren't graded by mistakes if they're dealt with.

Mayon watched as his knee was grabbed by the hand of Dante, who in turn pushed it away from himself. Mayon was slightly off balance, but nothing serious. In one second he was back on his feet to see Dante jump up and send himself to the side of Mayon. Mayon turned in time to see Dante throw a knee at his kidney.
Mayon attempted to crouch down slightly and throw his left palm into the side of Dante’s knee and push it out of the way but Mayon underestimated the speed of the attack, and it hit him in his ribs. Mayon was in pain, but with the knee still near him, he pushed it away, possibly throwing Dante off balance. Mayon used his short time to jump back from Dante.
Mayon wasn’t one to fight for fun. The tournament was something he thought he could use to prove he could fight for himself. But he realized that he couldn’t fight his hardest if not fighting for a good reason, and a tournament wasn’t one. He knew that Dante’s hit caught him off guard and the fight wouldn’t last much longer because of it. Dante was lucky that day. Mayon didn’t see him being able to continue the fight, his pain was rising, as though the bone cracked when hit.
“I am going to say one last thing Dante. I like you, you’re a good fighter. And you are going to win this fight. But not the way you might have thought…”
Mayon walked out of the ring holding the right side of his ribs. He knew he wouldn’t have been able to continue that fight. He smirked as he left. Dante was a good fighter, but maybe they would fight again, and if for the right reason, Mayon would win that next fight. Mayon noticed someone watching their fight as he was leaving the ring. He knew it was the fighter in another match, the one that would decide who the winner of Mayons match would fight. He didn’t know if he won or not, but if he did, he hoped that he would give Dante a little more of a fight then Mayon did. Mayon would fight harder next time.

Barzahd's eyes widen. The fight ends very quickly, when a swift knee lands on the fighter called Mayon. He gets back to a standing position, says a few things, and then exits the ring, forfeiting the match and clutching his ribs, apparently cracked in some way. As he passes, he seems to notice Steve, and Alkaiser gives the fighter a nod as if to say "Shit happens, kid."
"Well, looks like I'll get a couple of hours of extra sleep anyways. I should be thanking him...but he'll still be in trouble come next round." Barzahd looks up to Dante, his projected opponent in the next round. Now was his moment of glory, but it wouldn't last. Barzahd swears to himself that this is as far as he'll let that boy go.
Steve then exits the arena, heading home before most of the other fighters or any of the spectators even finish their buisiness. He makes his way into the room, falls on his matress, and slides off to sleep, his roomates both woken up by the commotion.

Dante saw the plan quickly become a reality as his elbow struck Mayon's rib, sinking into it for a short while. Finally, Dante made a hit, and it probably did a lot more damage than the blocked attack that Mayon did. Suddenely, Mayon pushed back Dante's knee, making Dante stumble for a split-second, but not fall, and Dante regained his balance as soon as he lost it.
As Mayon jumped away, Dante expected an attack soon after. But instead, was puzzled when Mayon hesitated. Dante stared at Mayon confusedly, when Mayon just said, “I am going to say one last thing Dante. I like you, you’re a good fighter. And you are going to win this fight. But not the way you might have thought…”
Then he just turned and walked away. Dante was slightly dissapointed, he wanted to win the old-fashioned way, but he was happy yet again when the referee walked over to Dante and yelled to the crowd, "Challenger Mayon forfeited, so," He turned towards Dante, "...Challenger Dante Williams wins!" The crowd roared with approval, and Dante felt the adrenaline rush through his body. All these people. Cheering for him, all watching him win...
He raised his hand and yelled as loudly as he could, "Wooh!!!" He grinned as far as he could. He couldn't believe it. He actually won. He scanned his eyes throughout the entire crowd, but two people particularly catching his eye. One was Rebecca. Dante was extremely excited that she cared enought to watch him fight and support him, he knew that she didn't much approve of fighting. He would thank her a lot once he could actually talk to her again. Maybe when he got back to the apartment...
Speaking of his next match. The other person that caught his interest was the small, red-haired person in the crowd. Alkaiser... Dante thought, My next opponent... He grinned, Wonder how good he really is...
Then he put that thought aside. For now, at least. And focused on the yelling, roaring, cheering crowd...
