I hate coffee.
The words rang through Kai's head as he sat in his unique position, in the cushioned chair. Comfortable. He looked down, under his chair, making sure his shoes were still there. Yes, he had quirky habits, such as taking off his shoes and socks whenever he could. He attracted strange looks from the other customers, but Kai considered these looks normal. Yeah, yeah, just 'cause I'm different.
His hands danced across the keyboard of his white MacBook. A tourist's guide of San Francisco came up. What a boring place. Nothing good except that bridge, which isn't even that special. The Brooklyn Bridge looks a lot cooler. He scrolled down, reading up on some of the things in the city. Boring is good, for now. It'll keep the heat away. He frowned slightly. Maybe.
His order of two chocolate cupcakes came sooner than expected, in a way unexpected. Plopped down in front of him on a plate. Service is better than New York's, he thought, and slid the MacBook to the side, revealing the two cupcakes, as well as someone sitting across from him.
Who's going to humor me for the remainder of my stay here?

A light yawn escaped Dimitri's lips as he sat down to "enjoy" his "venti"-size cup of hot chocolate. What ever happened to large, medium, and small? People just loved to dress up everything with fancy words. Just look at the politicians. They muddled their speech with so many awkwardly placed words that they confused people to the point where they sounded good. They probably confused themselves while they were at it. And that's why people as a whole, sucked. They tried too hard to be liked, or to be held in some other high regard.
He had sat in one of those barseats next to the large windows, so he could watch as those people he didn't really care about scrambled past the coffee shop in a hurry to go somewhere other than here. They didn't care about getting coffee here, since there was a Starbucks on nearly every corner. They could just drop their money on a double orange mocha latte cappuccino somewhere else.
The people in the store itself were boring too. They just sat around, drinking their coffee and chatting to one another about nothing in particular. There was that one guy who was sitting like he was craped up onto the chair without his shoes. But that moment of amusement quickly disappeared in the boringness of everyday life.
Dimitri put the cup up to his lips and took the first drink cautiously. "Tastes like shit... I wonder why I even come here..." He sighed, pushing the cup away after mumbling to himself.

The door creaked as Kruzy entered the decently small sized coffee shop... "A, ah.. Granda peppermint hot chocolate" He asked slowly, hesitating at first. Thier were only about 5 people in this place.... about two old men, an elderly lady just about walking out, and two yuonger males... one sitting without his shoes on.
"Thank you" He said as he grabbed his coffee... turning his back to the employee, while pouring in a shot of peppermint schnapps.
"now thats a good cocoa" Kruzy sat diagonally from the other kid in the chair, the one with his shoes off.
Kruzy looked at him briefly, just studying the people in the shop once more, as the other two elderly men walked out. Kruzy nodded a "sup" to the shoeless man, and continued to drink his spiked cocoa. Opening up a magazine from his back pocket, and beginning to read and shop around in it.... now focusing just on his drink and reading.

Why bother to come here at all, then? Kai thought as the person who sat across from him uttered profanities. "Because you're like every other teenager, trying to be an adult by drinking what they drink - coffee," he said softly, staring at the glowing screen of his Mac.
Kai looked at the newcomer, and small smile broke out onto his face. I remember him. The one with an RB swap into a S13, or was it S13? He took a bite out of his cupcake, and looked at the other guy again. I wonder if I should talk to him about his car.... He thought about it, nibbling on the tip of his thumb as he did so. Well, he might be a jerk like he was to the guy with the NSX, but that might be because the guy with the NSX was being a snob. Hmm.... He scratched his chin, and decided to risk it.
"How'd you squeeze an RB26 into a 240SX?" Kai asked casually, looking at his screen, instead of the person he was addressing. Was it inspired by Tokyo Drift? Kai thought, remembering the swap in the Summer blockbuster. But the S15 with an actual RB didn't run. All of them had SR20's.....[/i]

Kruzy looked up and smirked a little.... finishing his gulp of cocoa, and then speaking confidently on his own ride.
"Custom engine mounts, a friend that owns a tranny shop, and a lot of hard labor..... and waiting."
Kruzy said that and it was all he needed to say, if he wanted to know more than Kruzy would answer. A real car guy doesn't care much about bragging, and if he did brag, he's nothing but a ricer until he proves what he's talking about.
"Im going to guess you can't drive yet..... and your an underclassmen i presume" Kruzy took a couple more sips out of ihs cocoa... awaiting a reply from him.

"You assume too much..." Dimitri muttered, not wanting to interrupt the two buddies in their talk. "It's cocoa, not coffee. And I'm not sure about me trying to act more adult... But the places in Washington were better. I guess things were just better back home. Really I'd say that coming here is more habit than any desire to look like I'm something I'm not." His little spiel ended as he took another sip of the cocoa, feeling some of the gritty bits from the cocoa mix get swept up into the drink. But, it was hot, and it was taking care of his thirst, so he bore with it. He definitely needed to find a new place to down a good hot drink though.
"Still a nice quiet place to be though..." He sighed, that last comment soft and to himself. With eyes like his, his hearing had compensated for the weakness, so he could hear faint things pretty well.
Reaching a hand into the front pocket of his black Linkin Park hooded sweatshirt, he produced a large granny smith apple, an old favorite of his. Taking a large bite, he could taste the rich taste of his favorite type of apple. He went through at least one a day, and now that he was in California, he wasn't sure if he'd be able to get as good an apple as he had gotten from back home. Hopefully he'd be able to get some sort of new favorite food, but he'd be feeling the pangs of homesickness soon enough.

.....Do I look that young?
Kai frowned, and shook his head. "No, I'm eighteen.... barely legal...." Kai said, taking in what he said. Well, he's not a jerk when you're not a jerk. Fair enough. He took another bite of his cupcake. A new voice interrupted them. Washington.
"What do you need coffe for, though? You can't stay awake in class?" he asked, hearing what Dimitri had said. I pull all-nighters every few days, heh.

Kruzy smiled as the two seemed to have an almost sarcastic battle going back and forth, one quietly verbaling, seeming to not want to interupt, and then the one that Kruzy was talking to, almost mocking to the other boy, who seemed younger than the other.
"Heck, im drinking cocoa too.. coffee at this place is over-priced... i mean hell... i spiked my own cocoa, but still...."
Kruzy stopped, taking another sip, and now reaching his hand out to the man in the chair. Kruzy's hand scarred from fights and also working in engine bays... but with his hand thier was also a metal ring, with a ying yang symbol on his middle finger....
"My names really Steve.... but people don't call me that.... Im Kruzy... and yea, im a graduate..... 21 years old"

"Actually, no, I can't stay awake in most classes. But that's really because they're boring rather than a lack of sleep. And as I said, it's not coffee. Cocoa really only give a minor boost in energy, unless you're a hyper little kid. Nah, I just like the stuff, or rather, liked..." He shrugged his shoulders, still not really looking at them, instead just keeping to looking out the window. As a gamer, he used to pull all-night LAN parties sometimes, usually bi-monthly, but exceptions occured, of course. It seemed he was the young one, only fifteen himself. He probably also looked like it too. Dimitri wasn't one for checking himself out in the mirrors.
And eighteen was barely legal in California? Come to think of it, he was familiar with only Washington's laws, which allowed him to get a learner's permit at his current age. Well, if he was still in his home state. It seemed that he was going to have to wait much longer to drive if he stayed in Hircine. Taking another bite of his apple, he munched and contemplated his fate in California. The temperatures were alright at the moment, but summer was supposed to be pure evil. Like hades had descended upon the land for three months. Hopefully his yearly trip to Russia would be quite extended so he could miss most of the heat.

"First time we meet. Kenji," Kai whispered, using his alias. Kruzy? Odd nickname. He looked up when he said he was a graduate. Why are you hanging out with us lowly high schoolers? Kai thought sarcastically, typing on his computer. He looked up again as the Russian kid spoke up again.
"Not sure about the driving age here, but in New York, you couldn't bring your ride to school unless you were eighteen," he said, shrugging.

Kruzy looked hard as he was brought about to listen carefully, ~Kenji huh... a lot of students names start with a K~ he thought to himself. Looking at the student typing no his laptop. Kruzy's cocoa almost done, he got up and walked to the trash, kinda next to the kid eating his apple...
"Cocoa, the last parts always a killer ain't it" Kruzy spoke as he threw it out, referring to the accumulated powder that settles at the bottom.
Kruzy walked back over and sat in his seat again, taking his cell phone out of his pocket, the phone new, but looked like crap. It was dropped about 100 times a week, and the antenna has snapped off... but it worked, and Kruzy hadn't started his job yet... but thats life. He opened the phone as the soft blue light glazed over his face and into his eyes. ^Menu, games, Tetris^ he started playing, focused on his game, and still intent on talking... trying to make conversation, but yet still not looking at Kenji.
"So... what brings you to a place like this,.... like why this school?...."
