History: Santiago was born and raised for the most part in Colombia; He was born in San Antonio an area in Cali, one of Colombia’s main cities, born to Elena and Julio Castrillon. He grew up in a pretty rough neighborhood and saw things that many kids would never want to see. At the age of three Santiago’s father was arrested for transporting drug from Cali to another part in Colombia, though he held a legit job he also made money on the side for the family and after he was arrested and sentenced he told Santiago’s mother where his money was so they could live off it along with her job. At the age of four he was playing down the block from his house with a couple of his friends, when a black Honda sedan rolled up across the street and the people inside riddled three men with countless bullets, watching this Santiago and his friends were so scared that they were frozen in their tracks as the guns stopped and the car drove off. Though this wasn’t the last time he witnessed events such as those, over time he began to get used to them although he still did get scared he became accustomed to the noise of the bullets. At age nine he and his best friend Angelo were walking down a street which they didn’t know was controlled by drug dealers, a man approached them and asked them in Spanish “Do you guys wanna make some quick money?” They both nodded and agreed; since money was always tight where they were from they were willing to do things they knew were wrong to make some scratch. The man asked them to deliver a pack of drugs to another dealer a few blocks away, since they knew the area pretty well they delivered it quickly and came back to the man and gave him the money they received, the man gave them a generous portion for each of them and told them “Whenever you guys want to make some money, look for me.” Ecstatic they left the block and spent their money happily on what kids their age loved to spend money on, toys, candy, food and playing cards.
As Santiago got older he began to realize and become more conscious of how the world around him worked, at the age of twelve he was already involved in a few robberies and drug deals, he learned how to mix drugs and he learned how to sell them quickly and quietly. He didn’t have a huge reputation but he was known locally, though he didn’t sell anything he was known to be reliable and helpful. Him and his friends were pretty popular in school and in their neighborhood, they made their money helping transport drugs and assisting in robberies and deals but not to frequently, he knew that was his father’s mistake and that he was caught because of his lack of control. Though in his neighborhood it was hard to keep control of his participation in those activities, he still managed to do so. At the age of thirteen his mother told him they were moving out of Colombia and to New York, he hated the idea and resented her at first, but then he understood why, before they moved he made a few connections in Colombia for both small and large shipments to the U.S. so he could make some money out there and help his mother to get on her feet.
When they arrived in New York, they moved into his aunt’s house in Queens Bridge, as he looked over the new neighborhood he realized that he could flourish here, but it would take some time. Though he didn’t know the language at all, he would dedicate his time to learning it in his new school. After enrollment he began to work hard at learning this new language, he would work hard in class and pass everything, he knew that school was the only way he would have a future, though his experience in drug dealing was promising he also knew he would most likely end up like his father, incarcerated and left for dead. His first week in New York was quiet, he met a few Colombian kids around the block so he began to chill with them, adapting to the New York life style, to him it was pretty similar to Colombia, so he just picked up where he left off and kept on. As time progressed he was doing good in school and progressing in learning English, until he was finally able to carry a full fledged conversation in English, though he still had an accent, he made more friends in school and on his block, he would occasionally get involved with some of the drugs in the neighborhood for a little bit of spending money, but he never really got to hard into it, he focused more on school.
At Age Fourteen he was pretty popular in his school and he had girls swooning all over, he wasn’t “the man” but he was close enough, the more time he spent on his block chillin the more he learned about this music called Hip-Hop, he had heard it in Colombia a little bit, but he never really knew what it was, but now his friends in New York put him on to it and he loved it, he loved the lyrics the Emcees would say, he loved the way they would flow and the fact they would talk about any topic at all. He loved it so much that he decided to join the ranks of Emcees around the world, he began to write vigorously every hour of every day, more and more until he would fill-up one book then another, then another and another, he had volumes of songs and verses, the more he wrote the more he sharpened his delivery and expanded his vocabulary, he was beginning to get noticed, he would be chilling with his friends on his stoop and he would freestyle with them and everyone would cheer for him as he went on and on, his friends would always tell him to record but he was always saying “Nah man, I’m not ready for that yet, maybe when I’m older.” He loved Hip-Hop and all it stood for, so he decided to dig deeper into the culture and he discovered the other elements, so he decided to dabble in each one, first taking up Graffiti, though he couldn’t think of a name to throw-up.
One day he was chillin with his boys down the block on his friends Andre’s stoop, as they were all kicking rhymes his turn came and he start his verse, his vocabulary was so large at this point that he would lose some of his friends with the words he was saying, his friend Cholo stopped the cypher and said “Yo Santy, stop using those big ass words kid, I’m gonna have to start looking for the Definitions in the dictionary.” And that’s when it hit him, a name to throw-up Definition, he loved the sound of it, plus he could use it as his Emcee name as well, based on what his friend said it seemed to fit him perfectly. After that day he started off with his basic throw-up and free hand and he perfected each one, and every time he would freestyle he would introduce himself as Definition. As time passed he began to develop more and more in his Drawing until he began to draw in wildstyle, bubble letters, straight letters, using different colors and blending styles. He had developed so much within his first year of rapping and graffiti that he surprised even himself, he began to throw-up his name everywhere in his neighborhood, late at night he would go out and bomb every wall that he would see, he knew to be careful of going over anyone else’s name so that he wouldn’t catch any beef.
His time in New York had shown him so much that he loved, Hip-hop was his heart and soul and as his knowledge grew his dedication grew as well, after a while he began to break dance, though it was hard to learn, he got a grip quickly as he learned for some of his friends who also were B-boys, he would practice with them everyday after school for hours, then he would get home do his homework and then go out and chill with his other boys, freestyling and joking until late at night, then on weekends he would go out late and bomb countless blocks, putting throwyz on some walls and freehands on others, and on some nights he would do pieces on different walls which took hours upon hours, but when he was done he felt satisfaction. Everyday it was the same thing, rapping, break dancing and graffiti. After a while he felt as if he needed more to do, though he was already busy, but he wanted to do more. On his way back from the bodega after a cypher with his boys he passed a dojo, he didn’t know what it was but he seemed to be interested, watching the kids and teens kicking and punching, doing different moves, throwing each other around. He walked in that day and met the sensei, he spoke to him and the sensei told him about the “style” they practiced, he said it was named Jeet Kune Do or Intercepting Fist; Santiago became very intrigued with it so he decided to join, and the only problem was the price of lessons, but the sensei told him that he would try and help him with the payments. The next year for Santiago revolved around Hip-Hop, Martial arts and school.
At Age Fifteen he was already at an Advanced level in his martial arts class, his graffiti was at it’s peak and his B-boying was as frequent as ever, plus he learn a whole new arsenal of moves that would raises eyebrows every time he would join a circle, As for his rapping he was less frequent in the cyphers with his friends but it wasn’t drastic, every other day or every two days he would be on his block at it again, though he wasn’t writing and freestyling as much his skill was still improving and he was as good as ever. One day in school he was chillin in the hallways with some of his boys and a few girls, he saw a random kid pull out a blade and shove it in-front of a girls face asking her for her money, as this happened he made eye contact with the girl and he nodded to her, dropping his book bag he broke apart from the group and sent a foot into the kid’s stomach, dropping the kid to his knees he punched him once square in the face and knocked him out, looking back to the girl who had an astonished look on her face, he introduced himself shaking her hand “A pleasure to meet you. My name is Santiago.” The girl’s face was beet red as she struggled to put her words together “My name is Kathrine and thank you for saving me.” Smiling he responded humbly “No need to thank me, it’s my service as a gentlemen to help a lady in distress. (corny as fuck)” “Can I walk you to your class room?” The girl nodded in agreement and grabbing his bag they went off, talking and talking, as they arrived at the girl’s class their conversation winded down and thinking quickly Santiago asked for her number, she gave it to him and at this time he realized how attractive the girl he had been talking to was, his jaw dropped and his eyes widened “Wow.” Smiling the girl asked “What?” Santiago shook himself out of his trance and said “Nothing, I just realized how gorgeous you are.” The girl smiled at him and she kissed him on the cheek as she departed for her class.
After that day his life changed, he had fallen in love. As time progressed his relationship with Kathrine grew until they started going out, he had his experience with girls but he had never felt this way about a girl and he loved it, he felt like a sort of new person. She was his better half and they were like best friends, his boys didn’t mind her around with him at the cyphers or at breaking practice, she supported him in everything he did and she even joined in on some of his activities, she attended his Jeet Kune Do class and he became her teacher out of class, she even did graffiti with him, they would go out at night and throw-up their names every where. At times they would have their fights but they would make up just as quick, her and he were everywhere together but it wasn’t annoying for them or their friends, they weren’t like the cliché couple, they were like buddies who had sex instead of boyfriend and girlfriend.
At Age Seventeen Santiago’s life had taken many turns, he was still a straight Hip-Hop head and he was still involved in his rapping, graffiti and break dancing, he was still into martial arts, but after a year and a half in jeet kune do he decided to take up another style, the style he choose was Jujitsu, at this point he had been into it for about six months and he caught on quick, learning as much as he could with each passing lesson. He was still with Kathrine and they were happy together, but it was a bit shaky for a while because Santiago had gotten involved in drugs for a little while so he could help his mother and buy himself a car, but by this time he had himself a steady job and he was doing good. He was doing well in school as well and doing everything he had to, his life was in order and he was on the right track, until one day his school decided to transfer a select group of students to a school in California called Hircine High, Kathrine was among those who were transferring but her mother refused to let her move, but when his mother heard she was furious, but a few days later she decided to move out to California with him So Santiago told all his friends about his move and they all became angry, but they understood as well, they simply told him “Keep in touch kid and stay New York, fuck Cali kid.” He laughed and departed from them, that day he went to Kathrine and told her what his situation was, she broke down into tears and begged him not to go, but he told her it was for his future, she was angry and overcome with grief but she understood, he told her “I’ll be back here, don’t worry, jus live your life without me, but keep me in your heart, you know I’ll keep you there, I Love you Kathy.”, that night they made love for the last time and in the morning Santiago left for California with his mother on the way behind him.
Fighting Style: Jeet Kune Do, Jujitsu, Street fighting and Boxing
Strengths: Santiago is built like a soccer player, but he has a lot more muscle then the average soccer player, which makes him strong. His strength is above average and he causes a good amount of damage with each blow, his stamina is impeccable and his endurance is in peak condition, flexible, due to his martial arts training he know how to harness his strength and use his body to maximize damage to his opponent, his accuracy is on par with his strength and this also makes him a formidable opponent, he isn’t untouchable and by no means close to that, but he is well prepared when it comes to counters and grapples.
Weaknesses: He tends to get distracted at inappropriate times and this causes him to open himself up, he also has the tendency to ignore or over look tell tale signs of his enemies attacks, and this causes him to not react in the proper manner. He at times wants to rush the fight and in doing this he tends to let his guard down which leaves him open to easily avoidable attacks, at times Santiago’s temper can get to him and begin to cloud his conscious judgment, this causes him to let his guard down and be open to attack. He also tends to underestimate his opponent abilities, so he doesn’t think he needs to keep his guard up as much which he can pay for later on in the fight, he isn't as fast as a normal soccer player because of his strength training so in battle he might not far as well against smaller faster opponents.
