Here's to hoping I got this right.
Name: Jonathan Michaels
Nationality: Jonathan is one of the few that can proclaim to be completely American or at least he and his family consider themselves so (as they have been living in the United States for several generations), but if you go far enough you'll note some English and Irish descent.
Age: 17
Weight: 160lbs
Height: 5'6"
Appearance:
Body: Jonathan is at first glance a rather small person and this is something that while he distastes it, he can admit to being. His body though his generally well built if only for a rather stout and stocky frame that has turned into a well muscled machine. His upper body is the most developed as his boxing training focused mainly on weight training and gaining the ability to take hits, though due to the running he did to get the stamina to fight longer matches his legs are also pretty developed as well. As far as facial structure goes it's of note that his eyes are rather spread out from his nose and one eye is bigger than the other (at least that's what it appears to be, whether this is because he naturally squints his right eye a bit more is a debate that he himself probably couldn't answer due to lack of interest), his nose is also rather pointy, and his teeth have a slight overbite to them.
Cosmetic: Befitting his physical appearance, his style of clothing isn't unique, either. It actually varies, as he has a fairly expansive wardrobe, so an adequate description can't really be stated, but he prefers loose, usually baggy clothing. Nothing so much that it looks like he's in a parachute of some kind, but a style of clothing that looks comfortable. A style that's easy to move in, one that doesn't really show off his physique, although one can tell that he's stocky, but that's mostly from his shoulder placement and the width of his neck. One item of clothing the he always wears, though, is his black hooded sweatshirt. Although he lives in warm weather, he finds that wearing heavy clothing helps build his endurance, and he likes the way the fabric feels. Other items include his wallet and a silver necklace, always hanging lazily from the back of his neck. resting against his upper chest.
Eye color: His eyes as said before are rather uneven in size (being that the left is a bit bigger than the right), but aside from that are the common almond shaped variety, what makes them unique is that he having the genetic trait of heterochromia has two eye colors, the left eye (and consequently the bigger one) having a light brown to it while the right eye has a dark green.
Hair: His hair is generally considered to be of the wavy persuasion is of a dark brown color and is kept just above his eyes (and generally it is a lot shorter on the sides as compared to the top) and is usually parted in the middle.
Habits: Jonathan's only habit worth mentioning is the fact that he generally enjoys to spend a lot of time just quietly thinking to himself and in general usually does so, this causes most conversations he has to be very dependant on the other person as he is generally spending most of this time thinking to himself. He also has a rather large nail biting problem and you can usually find him playing with the bitten of nails in his mouth (rolling the nails from side to side and such).
Other Information
Personality: Generally Jonathan is pretty much summed up in a few words: egotistical, self centered, and pretentious (forgive that these words are pretty much synonymous). This is not to say that this is overtly apparent just that he truly only cares for himself and what normally would constitute as mere self confidence is instead replaced with a sense of arrogance and entitlement that generally make him a rather hard person to approach. As alluded to in his habits he’s also fairly introverted and instead of spending time out with friends or even doing a lot of boxing matches Jonathan is found just doing nothing but thinking. While this behavior to a certain degree increases basic perception and alertness (in the sense that he doesn’t spend so much time being distracted by outside influences), more often than not he’s usually to busy with his own monologue to really put this “thinking” to use, hence self centered.
Ironically while not noticing the flaws of this dependency to over think every move he makes, he praises it feeling as if because he lacks the ability to make a truly spontaneous decision makes him more intelligent than his peers. Despite these inherent character flaws, Jonathan is generally brave and at the end of the day prone to bouts of altruism, probably one of the biggest questions on his mind is whether this altruism is done solely to better peoples view of him or because he genuinely wants to help people.
Hobbies: Jonathan expresses interests to become a full-time UFC fighter once he exits high school and thusly his hobbies are directed unto becoming a better fighter. Unfortunately he can’t get formal schooling in the martial arts he expresses interests in -aside from boxing-, he mostly reads books and watches fights involving said style. Along with that he also is interested in writing, but he claims that really none of his writing is any good.
Extracurricular: Generally as far as sports teams go, Jonathan only is on them to keep himself fit. He’s thusly currently a member of: Cross Country and is also a member of a boxing gym independent of the school that takes up a great deal of his time.
Important Details
History: Generally Jonathan Michael’s history is for the most part: uninteresting. He’s a New Jersey native and thusly spent most of his early childhood in New Jersey, his father was an artist and in general while this career assured that his father would be happy, it also insured that the family would be on the lower end of the economic chart. His mother was no help in that area as she too was simply a receptionist at a local clinic and despite her role in saving lives also was not really a big money maker. Thusly due to his families financial situation the Michaels’ family inhabited a local housing project in which they immediately felt as if they where outsiders due to their race and the fact that they still held unto some traits that are more familiar with the white middle-class.
So, from the get-go Jonathan was an outcast among his neighbors, he didn’t share the same culture, didn’t share the same dialect, and didn’t share any want to assimilate to them. It was perhaps these moments in early childhood that attributed to his general introverted status as he missed out on a lot of the early conversations and building of social skills that a lot of kids experienced at his age. The most significant moment of his early life would be when he witnessed his first fight, really it was a simple squabble -a man had cut in line at the grocery store-, but it was a fight nonetheless. Being exposed to the primitive and savage aspect of this, the destructive potential of the human body awakened a new part in Jonathan. He had never been a fight before, but he wanted the ability to win them, and he wanted people to know that he could.
This view motivated his parents to get him involved with boxing, at first his father would simply watch matches with the boy on TV, this lead to them actually going to see the matches live, and when Jonathan was ten years old it lead to his enrollment into a boxing gym. The boxing gym taught him punches, training regiments, and basic tactics and promised that at the end of the month he would get to participate in a small tournament among the other boys his age. To put it simply Jonathan adapted to the lifestyle and nature of fighting immediately, he was always an individualist and unlike the other sports that focused on teamwork and interdepencey boxing was something that solely relied on his skill and thusly was very appealing to him. To put it short a few months into the program he had consistently won the local in-gym tournaments and thusly was sent to districts.
He didn’t win the first district tournament, but a pleasant introduction to the tournament circuit made sure that his gym put special focus unto preparing Jonathan for the tournaments. At age twelve he managed to enter the boys division and win the state-wide tournament winning him countless grants and among other things a chance at the national circuit. Placing rather highly in his first national tournament he preceded to continue to do this for the rest of his middle-school years. He consistently ranked upon the top five boxers ages 12-14 in his weight-class and was predicted to go pro as soon as he turned eighteen.
What changed really was that during the end of his eighth grade year his father started to gain credibility in the artistic circuit going so far as gaining a grant from an art museum stationed in San Francisco. The move was done after he graduated middle school (as he had to change schools anyway) and thusly started his Freshman year at the ever lovable Hiricine High. Jonathan despite being a social outcast was a well behaved boy (misbehaving didn’t do anything, but inhibit him both physically and socially, so it wasn’t a smart move to be such), but what is significant (at least to him) is that the move halted his boxing career. He couldn’t really find an acceptable boxing gym the first six months after his move and thusly began watching a lot more fights, it was during this time that he discovered the world of MMA.
Boxing itself is generally pretty linear and focused upon direct strategies of striking, while the world of MMA allowed for ground-fighting, kicks, and even grappling. Eventually he did find a boxing gym and thusly became focused on boxing again, but the most important thing of this year was that he didn’t join tournaments and hasn’t since he was fourteen years old. Instead he simply trains in boxing to keep his striking consistent and what he can pick up from videos and watching fights and reading books he uses. Occasionally there will be someone who will for the fun of it allow themselves to engage in a full MMA fight with Jon and it’s during that time that he has mastered the rather basic submissions and kicks that he does have. The training that he’s done as recently become an asset to him as it gives him a certain blanket of security when dealing with the violent transfer students (though in their defense he himself hasn’t been subjected to any violence, in all honesty he views fighting over personal squabbles a bit beneath him). Currently he’s a Junior at Hiricine High and living in a single dorm (it’s free living and it saves his parents from providing stuff that he would require: food, internet, and other stuff that comes with another person living in the house) just going through the motions in hopes that he doesn’t get involved in anything that could physically inhibit him from pursuing the career he wants to.
In short, staying out of trouble.
Fighting Style: Jonathan’s fighting style as of right now can best be described as boxing with a mixture of basic Jujitsu and Muy Thai techniques. The boxing itself is more along the lines of well delivered punches, good blocking, and general pain tolerance. As a boxer he is more of an in-fighter, which makes sense considering his general size and lack of reach (meaning he focuses on getting in the opponents guard and swarming said opponent with punches). Occasionally he mixes in basic Muy Thai kicks into his standing game, but due to the foreignness this is a rarity, though he does express a sincere interest in strengthening his kicks. His ground game is also notably weaker than his standing game, though to compensate this he has picked up on basic Jujitsu, though it is more in the area of submissions and getting an opponent into a weak possession, so he truly would have no idea how to approach a ground situation if he wasn’t the one that started it.
Strengths: Physically Jonathan is gifted with a certain level of finesse and punching skill that a lot of fighters simply do not have, he’s also competed against a variety of similar fighters so thusly he is familiar to most of their tactics. While he may not be specifically skilled in ground fighting and grappling, he still does have it and could probably compete at level equal to those not specializing in it. On a pure speculative level, the fact that at first glance he doesn’t look like a physically imposing person (as far as height and build goes) could increase a certain element of surprise.
Weaknesses: As said before Jonathan is an in-fighter and in general his strategy is to run in and overwhelm the opponent. Of course this strategy guarantees blows connecting with him and thusly if he was fighting someone who is an extremely strong puncher, he most likely will lose the fight due to the fact that he will most likely be hit with several of those blows. His fighting tactics are also fairly by the book and versatility (despite the fact that he is working on it) is still not his strong point. Another difficulty comes with his lack of reach and generally small stature, standing at only 5’6” he is one of the shorter male members of his class and thusly almost every match will boil down to being “Shadow of the Colossus” in proportions. If faced with someone who is a skilled ground fighter, he is almost certain to lose (for he has no experience in avoiding ground based tactics nor anyway to escape them) also while he is used to punches, kicks are something that consistently catches him off guard.
