Arlen walked slowly through the halls of Paragon, his eyes scanning the inmates of this hell hole. In Hircince he had been able to keep his head down, focus on his work and his training. Now he felt like he had been thrown to the sharks. He noticed the stares he got from almost everyone as he walked through the halls. Some of the more sane stepped out of his way and kept their eyes down. The idiots, like the small group approaching...well they were just looking for a beat down. Arlen felt his hands ball into fists, just waiting for the inevitable.
"You going to move for us big guy? Or are we gunna have to beat you?"
Arlen inwardly winced as the shorter of the three thugs spoke up, a cocky smirk planted on his lips. Why did it have to come to this? He took in a slow breath and simply stared a hole through the youth who had spoken to him. His silence it seemed was a suitable answer the and the shorter man spoke again.
"Suit yourself big boy...three on one should even the odds eh?"
Arlen had already slipped his left leg back, spreading his feet into a firm shoulders width stance, the toes pointing forward. The shorter man threw caution to the wind and attacked Arlen head on. Closely followed by his two numbskull friends. Arlens' reaction was deceptively fast as the shorter man through a well aimed haymaker for his liver in an arcing hook. Arlen slid forward his right arm dropping down to parry the left handed blow across his stomache. His left knee now surging forward and slamming with full force into the body of his now off kilter assailent. Despite his opponents arm inadvertently protecting his mid riff, the power of the blow was enough to lift the smaller student off his feet and sprawling into one of his friends, who being caught off ballance fell backwards unable to retain his footing.
Ignoring this the third attacker continued his assault on Arlen. Coming upon Arlens' left he unleashed a powerful right handed straight for Arlen's jaw line. Arlen felt the blow clatter into his tensed jaw, but his powerful neck muscles stopped his head snapping to one side. Instead he grunted and closed his eyes making sure he kept his composure by breathing through his clenched teeth. Opening his eyes Arlen was able to see a second right hand coming for the bridge of his nose. Snarling Arlen thrust his forehead forward and headbutted the punch. His attacker was caught unaware as his punch was caught prematurely. His hand slammed into the thick skull of the massive Irishman, Arlen remained unphased by the force of the impact. The loud crack that resounded and the yell of pain after came from his oponent as two of their knuckles broke against the solid surface. As they concerntrated on nursing their hand they did not see the left haymaker that Arlen had unleashed. The uppercut caught it's target cleanly on the chin, the massive force lifting the thug off the ground and sending him sprawling backward like a rag doll. They hit the floor with a dull thud and there they remained motionless.
Arlen straightened himself up and looked to the two Paragon thugs who looked at their friend in horror. He spat some blood onto the floor and wiped his mouth with the back of his left hand before speaking.
"Is this madness done with?"

“Madness?” A low, forceful voice seeped out from between the two Paragon thugs, causing them to cringe – though mostly likely out of fear of the giant bellowing at them.
“This Is SPARTA!” Catching the attention of everyone in the hall Tai Yang pushed his head past the two wanna-be delinquents, wrapping his arms over their shoulders as his sadistic grin crept across his face. The two boys looked at the Chinese-American in a manner more familiar with the movies, both heads craning over at once, a look of shock and horror still planted on their faces. Normally this is when they’d run away in frantic zigzags and circles, making the audience laugh at their stupidity, but this wasn’t a cinematic adventure, and so it was up to Tai Yang to clear them from the scene.
At first his arms were like dead weight as they hung across the thugs shoulders, but without warning his hands tightened, clenching their shoulders and ripped back, pulling the two males around in semi circles before he brought his arms up over their heads, took a step back and thrusted his forearms into their chests. They stumbled back a bit further, both trying to catch their balance as their center of gravity was distorted, and then ran away in a fashion more accustom to drama’s where the henchmen who survive run off, scurrying to their bosses. Quiet pleased with himself, Tai Yang let his smile distort from sadistic to just plain old happy, pushing his red-lenses shades back up his nose as his attention went north, far north, until he was looking Arlen in the face. Sighing softly he glanced back over his left shoulder, making a nodding motion with his head before looking back at the giant.
“I’ve always wanted to say that, thanks for the opening.” Letting out a chuckle and sigh he moved a few steps closer to the much taller, heavier individual, his eyes barely glancing over the unconscious party of the ménage-trios. Having to crane his neck back even further he was nearly looking straight up as he came directly in front of Arlen. “My word, they sure do grow them bigger from where-ever your from. Though, that’s a compliment towards both you and your nation.”
A few on lookers seemed puzzled; the notorious Tai Yang was giving a compliment? Was this a joke or trick of some sort? The silver-tongued fighter who enjoyed mocking and destroying others was actually complimenting someone… Such a thing seemed like it would only happen in dreams, or perhaps nightmares depending on your point of view. And yet, it was as clear as day, he was actually giving a compliment.
“Though, I wonder: Despite your size and build, you seem to dislike fighting. Is this true, or am I taking a shot in the dark?” Questions following compliments, obviously he wanted to find out something. He had even kindly dispatched of the two remaining thugs, even going so far as to gently remove them from the scene, rather then just bash their skulls together. Whatever Tai Yang was looking for, it seemed he was cautious and hopeful as to obtaining it.

“This Is SPARTA!”
Arlen was initially confused by the outburst that cut through the silence, then he realised the words he had chosen when speaking to the thugs, and slowly a rare smile spread across his usually stern features. As quickly as it came the humor dissipated, his left hand that had smashed into his opponents jaw with cataclysmic force flexed slightly as he removed the tingling sensation that had occured since the moment of impact. Allowing his arms to rest at his sides he focused his attention on the new comer who had draped his arms rather casually over the shoulders of the two remaining thugs. The expression that remained on their faces suggested that this new comer was not their friend, the expression on the new comers face punctuated this fact as his face seemed to have contorted itself into a rather sinister looking grin. As ever Arlen offered little to no reaction to the situation that unfolded before him as the lithe looking indivdual finished what the thugs had started with a rather impressive manouvere that caught the two thugs by surprise, and sent them running through the halls.
Now the situation seemed to calm in an instant, oddly enough this coincided with the change of expression on the once sinister looking student. Now he seemed all smiles, the instant switch reminded Arlen of his Bi-polar uncle who could switch between euphoria to almost suicidal lows in an instant. At the first statement directed toward him Areln simply nodded to the student. Then as the student came closer he simply allowed his gaze to fall downward accentuation the difference in size between the two. Almost on cue the smaller of the two spoke.
“My word, they sure do grow them bigger from where-ever your from. Though, that’s a compliment towards both you and your nation.”
Arlen was silent at first, his gaze momentarily occupied as it studied the remaining crowd. A few seemed puzzled by the exchange that was goin on between Arlen and Tai Yang. Arlen noted this and deduced that perhaps this smaller man before him was not to be entirely trusted. Being the kind of person he was though he shrugged these thoughts off for now and chose to interact with Tai Yang.
"Not so much my country, more a family trait."
Arlens' voice despite being low and heavily accented was friendly for now. Accompanying this his posture was relatively neutral, despite the slight taughtness that was apparent in his arms and shoulder muscles. Only the most seasoned fighters would pick up on these slight muscle movements and realise that despite Arlens' relaxed appearance he was actually prepared for anything that might seem unexpected.
“Though, I wonder: Despite your size and build, you seem to dislike fighting. Is this true, or am I taking a shot in the dark?”
Arlen shurgged initially, he could sway either way to such a question. Yes he tried to avoid fighting when it wasn't necessary or when he felt that there was simply nothing to gain for it. In that sense he did not like pointless combat. However give him a good fight, or a decent challenge and he relished the oppertunity to test himself...equally his darker side relished in the pumelling of those who he saw as enemies. After a moments thought Arlen spoke in his gravelly Irish tones, answering the last question posed by the Tai Yang.
"Don't get me wrong, I'm no wet blanket. I just don't see the point in fighting for no reason. A fight with purpose however...I'll take that and I'll enjoy every moment of it."

Chuckling to himself Tai Yang stared up at the foot plus taller student through his red lenses shades, truly enjoying talking to the behemoth before him. To some this might seem weird, as Yang hadn’t really socialized with anyone before without attacking them, or having attacked them, or defended from their sneak attack. Despite the fact that he was constantly around people, interacting with them physically, no one could recall a time where he was just standing there, peacefully, talking to someone.
“That’s definitely good, fighting without a purpose is just scraping in a school yard.” He continued to grin his peaceful grin, speaking in a tone that suggested he knew the much taller individual – though this was just how he was. “Oh, excuse the pun. But, that’s a bit of a different between you and me. You saw that fight as pointless, but whenever I fight I always have purpose, no matter what the situation is.”
Bringing his arms up he weaved his fingers together, lacing them through and through before pushing out his palms, cracking his knuckles before bringing his self-made pillow behind his head, supporting his neck as he leaned back and stretched.
”My curiosity has been peaked though, and not by much food your family goes through: Though I am curious about that as well.” He chuckled a little more at his own joke, not afraid to flash his pearly-whites to show he was enjoying himself. “How would you feel if I could ensure that you’d no longer have to engage in pointless fights? I’m assuming that this would make you happy and make your time spent at school more enjoyable, yeah?” He paused for a brief moment, letting this idea sink in before fleshing out a bit more detail. “I figure my way would be easier then making a name for yourself, as incidents like that –“ He said as he pointed over his shoulder with a loose thumb, motioning at the unconscious thug. “ – Would take at least two months before more of the denser folks realize that your not to be messed with.”
Dropping his arms back to his sides and tucking his hands loosely in his leather jackets pockets he waited for the guy’s response, and internally hoped it would be coming soon. Having to constantly stare up at the ceiling was pain to say the least, and he didn’t appreciate having to crane his neck up that far for to long, as it would make sleeping kind of awkward with a kink.

“How would you feel if I could ensure that you’d no longer have to engage in pointless fights? I’m assuming that this would make you happy and make your time spent at school more enjoyable, yeah?”
Up to this point in the conversation Arlen had remained fairly neutral in his posture. Now however he allowed himself to reflect the curiosity that had arisen due to his encounter with this extremely confident individual. Arlen cocked an eyebrow and offered a brief nod in reply to the assumption made by Tai Yang.
“I figure my way would be easier then making a name for yourself, as incidents like that –“
He watched as Tai Yang referenced toward the still out cold thug, before continuing on.
“ – Would take at least two months before more of the denser folks realize that your not to be messed with.”
Now with his eyes back on Tai Yang Arlen slow raised his right hand to the back of his cleanly shaven head. The sound of his calloused palms rubbing against the coarse short hair created a rough sound similar to sand paper scraping across wood. It was quite clear that he was pondering the words spoken by Tai Yang. Now his right hand came to rest at the base of his skull, the fingers needing into the dense muscle in an attempt to loosen up the taughtness created by constantly craining his neck downward.
"Your way eh? and what would your way be then?"
Arlens' interest had obviously been sparked now, it was true that he didn't really fancy having to clobber his way through the fodder of the school in order to get on with his time here. Fights like that were not enjoyable, he gained nothing from them but bloodied clothes and the odd bruise. If this student had a way to ease this then Areln was more than interested in what they had in mind.

“My way? My way’s already started.” With his grin growing he removed his hands from his pockets, cracking the knuckles on his left hand before pointing toward a sophomore that was walking within the outer perimeter their ‘talking area’. The boy had been moving up along the lockers, obviously trying not to get noticed. That’s probably why he was chosen, as he was the one who wanted to remain invisible, but instead was brought into the limelight.
“You, boy.” Tai Yang spoke with no real respect, with just enough force to gather the sophomore’s attention.
[Sophomore] “Y-yes?”
“Who am I?”
[Sophomore] “Excuse me?”
“Who. Am. I?”
[Sophomore] “Tai Yang… Sir.”
“And what do you do when you see me?”
[Sophomore] “Try to avoid getting on your bad side.”
“And you’ve done a good job. Now, boy, this is my friend.” Motioning with his right thumb Tai Yang pointed at Arlen though was still unaware of the behemoths name. “If you, or anyone you know tries to mess with him they’ll find themselves running into me. That is, after he’s finished with them. Understand?”
The sophomore could only shake his head in an up and down fashion, nodding as quickly as he could before Tai Yang waved him off. Turning back to Arlen he continued to smile, no longer stern in his approach or demeanour.
“And that’s part of how it’ll work. A few others will spread your name around; give you a rep that suits your dominance. I’ll stamp a few minds with your name as well, giving the personal touch.” He let his grin drop slowly, sliding his hands back into his pockets as he got down to more serious matters, his side of the deal. “All you have to do is endorse my position as School Captain. The choice is up to you, and don’t worry – I’m not like the mob where if you refuse your on my hit list. If you find this isn’t your cup of tea…Or pint of ale? Whatever analogy fits, then that’s fine with me. So, what do you say?”

“My way? My way’s already started.”
Arlen was puzzled for a moment, but didn't allow himself to show it. Instead he remained silent watching Tai Yang. If his way had started already, then it was a covert process and Arlen felt that he had stepped into something 'bigger'. Unphased by this fact he simply watched with interest as Tai Yang drilled his point home. Singling out an unsuspecting Sophmore he practically interogated the nervous youth with a rapid succession of questions. Arlen nodded slowly, Tai Yang was one for the spot light. Arlen could tell that the young man relished it. Eventually Tai stated that he and Arlen were friends. Arlen mused over this statement for a moment before Tai broke his train of thought.
“And that’s part of how it’ll work. A few others will spread your name around; give you a rep that suits your dominance. I’ll stamp a few minds with your name as well, giving the personal touch.”
Arlen nodded slowly during Tai Yang's brief pause, Arlen was about to ask the question 'What would you get out of this?' It seemed however that Tai had read his mind and had saved his side of the bargain until last.
Arlen openly smile now, it was a big broad grin. The penny had dropped. It made sense that someone with the confidence of Tai Yang would be looking to fill the void. Now he was rallying support, and who better to have on your side than someone who looked as imposing as Arlen? The vast majority of this school would think twice about going toe to toe with him. With Tai Yang's support...even fewer would want to step up and try. What this meant is that only the cream of the crop would be willing to stand up and fight the big man. Arlen nodded his head, he would be a fool not to take sides. In a school like this you do not survive on your own. If you were going to fight, it might as well be for a cause against a worthy opponent.
"Tai Yang. you have my support. Any time you want it, Arlen O'Grady will have ye'r back."

“Well, ain’t that swell.” Rubbing the bridge of his nose with the inside of his index finger and tip of his thumb he worked away what seemed to be an oncoming sneeze before taking his shades by the side of the rim and pulling them from his face. Tucking the sides in with the use of his chest he folded his shades up before tucking it inside his left pectoral pocket on the inside of his jacket. With his other hand he reached into his back left pocket, removing a black leather square folded in on itself. Flipping it open his wallet showed a lot of different credit cards, none of the names actually showing as he slipped his fingers in between the sidings of front and back. Shifting his index finger back he rubbed a series of cards, pulling one out further then the others before he removed the card and flipped his wallet closed, replacing it.
“Here.” Extending his right hand he held the card between his index and middle finger, a more classic and ‘cool’ pose as seen in movies by the secret agents and heroes of the film. He shifted his weight sideways by taking a step back with his left, accentuating the posture as he let his wild hair dance while his body remained still.
“If someone hasn’t gotten the point across and I need to up my action for my side of our deal, just call. Or if you just feel like chatting or grabbing a cup of Joe, that’s fine to.” Bearing his pearly whites again he let out a casual laugh, once more acting like they had been long-time friends.
Once Arlen took the card he’d find it to be rather bland, yet bold. It was off-white in color, somewhere between white and tan with a rough edge. The lettering was just printed on, though in bold letters for all three lines. The first two were straight writing, not actual sentences but rather his name and title, the last line being his cell number. It looked professional to a point, but still straight to the point and at the same time the work of a teenager. It didn’t show the luxuries of money or the class that is in stowed, just the information present.
