‘What the?’
Zack stared at his phone with a surprised look. The number was a familiar one, but he hadn’t expected a call from the person at all… Were the plans already changed? Or was this simply to get an update from him? Zack wasn’t too sure, but he knew it would probably be best if he was somewhere noisy to ensure no one could listen. He didn’t answer his phone but instead made a quick walk towards the cafeteria. Once he entered he knew he had found the perfect location for his call. Apart from the fact that hundreds of students were making a lot of noise by simply talking there was also some fight going on in the middle of the cafeteria, including a lot of shouting. He simply walked over to an empty seat and sat down, waiting for the person to call once more. As expected, his phone started vibrating only minutes after he had sat down. Flipping open his cell, he greeted the unexpected caller.
“Principal, what a delight you’re calling… what can I do for you?”
On the other end of the line, principal Katsumoto smirked slightly, it was indeed better not to use any names other than principal, and by the sound of it, Zack had found a good place to speak, no one would overhear their conversation with all the wreckage there.
”Mister Kinneas, always a pleasure. How are things going over there? Been in any fights yet?
Zack could feel the restraint in Katsumoto’s voice, he was eager to find out what Zack had learned so far about the school and the situation there. There was no need for Zack to hide anything, he was being paid a decent sum of money for his work in Paragon and so far, things had been far more quiet than he had expected things to be.
“Well, not really… I’ve stayed low, just like you asked. People think I’m some random new student here… they don’t know what I’m capable of so they just left me alone so far… I guess they’re too busy fighting each other… Your little project hasn’t been in too much trouble yet either, even though there’s a price on his head here…”
”A price on his head you say? Now that’s interesting…”
Zack noticed that Katsumoto was in fact surprised by this news. It had only been yesterday that Trent had put a price on Kyukaku’s head, but apparently Shuya had other things to do with his time. However, Zack waited for Katsumoto to continue so for a few seconds, there was nothing but silence.
”And still he hasn’t been brutally assaulted? I guess I misjudged the students at Paragon than… it matters not… I’ve got some other things I need you to do anyway, but of course your primary orders remain the same…”
“Don’t worry, the project won’t die… But what is it you need me to do?”
”It’s pretty simple. I need you to have some things ready inside the school… I need you to check some routes and I need you to be on standby at all times from now… can you do that?”
“Sure, now tell me, what do you need?”
*Several minutes later*
Zack had his phone back in his pocket and was walking down the halls of Paragon Institute once more. Kyukaku had to be around here somewhere anyway, so he could at the same time keep an eye out for the Hircine ex captain. Not sure as to why Katsumoto would need all those things he had told Zack to prepare, he would just do it. There was more money to be made and it sounded like there was going to be a nice party going on in Paragon soon.
