Raven sat at the chemistry lab table. No this wasn't chemistry but the school didn't have science rooms with just desks so they used the lab tables as desks instead. And so Raven sat at one with an extra seat beside her reserved for one person and one person only who had yet to arrive. JT. He and she had this one class together and she had been looking forward to it all day. Her day hadn't gone very well but she hoped it would get better now that she got to see her new friend again and hopefully they could talk or in the least pass notes or something she really did want to get to know him better that smile had been replaying in her mind over and over again since this morning.
Her bag, messenger bag, that she kept all her things in was broken. Someone had cut the bottom of it and the strap this morning. She didn't know who did it but it had only begun the rest of her day ending up badly. She didn't know what else to do but she was going to have to figure it out. So she pulled out her spiral and got her pen ready to take.. or just pass notes. She watched the door shyly wondering when he would come she could wait .. she couldn't remember the last time she was so excited and so nervous at the same time. Maybe that first date with Felix. Maybe that was why. But she was excited and now all she could do was wait for him to come and hopefully they could talk more when he got here.

(OOC- Happy New Year!)
"Where is it?" Joey mumbled to himself as he walked through the halls, constantly looking from his schedule to the classroom numbers that he passed. In short, he had gotten himself lost. He had planned on looking around before school started to avoid this sort of thing, but he had ended up getting sidetracked by his new acquaintances Xae and Raven.
He hadn't expected to make new friends the first day, though he probably should have figured he would. After all, he wasn't one to walk around like a loner. It didn't matter though. He didn't regret taking time to meet them, and he was sure he could find the class on time.
"BRRIIINNNNNGGGG!!!" came the sound of the bell. He was now officially late for class. Or was he?
"Just in time!" he said, smirking at his own fortune as he found himself standing right in front of his new Physics class. Walking in quickly, he made sure to take his seat next to Raven as soon as possible in hopes that the teacher wouldn't mind his lateness.
"Barely made it." he said to Raven under his breath. He had hoped to have at least gotten to class early enough to chat with her for a little bit, but he obviously missed the chance. Maybe they would still get to talk though, depending on how strict the teacher ended up being.

((Happy New Year to you as well!))
Raven bit her lip and began to prepare her notepage for notes. The bell had only just rung and there was no sign of JT. She had officially stopped watching the door. Why she had been watching it anyway was rather silly it wsn't like he would really be interested in her. She was a shy blushing girl that had a thick accent and was a bit more timid than most boys liked. Especially when you were only getting to know her. But she would warm up given time and you would see a bit more lively yet still shy and quiet by most peoples standards, kind of girl.
So she was placing her name, 'Raven Jacobs' on the top of her paper and dating the page so she could look back on it when and if she needed to. Though Raven was exceedingly good at memorization and so she really didn't see where she would have a problem at all with this. She really didn't look up as someone slid onto the stool beside her figuring maybe JT had switched out his class. But she looked up suddenly when she heard his voice and she blushed but a true smile crossed her face.
"We haven't done anything yet. Besides, it's the first day.. maybe we'll get lucky and he'll let us off easy." she chuckled softly. She scooted her stool closer to his so that they could talk softly and at least pretend to pay attention during class.
"How .. was your day?" she asked shyly looking up at him and blushing a bit she turned to look away. Sometimes her blushing made her feel more foolish than anything else.

"Yeah, I hope the teacher is cool." he whispered, knowing there was no way he/she (you decide) would be. He had never had an especially nice teacher before, and he knew not to get his hopes up this time around either. Tank had told him that he payed the teachers for good grades at Varron, but Joey was much too serious about his future to take that risk unless he really needed to.
"My day was alright, these Hircine guys as a whole weren't as bad as I was anticipating. When it comes down to it, I might call them an improvement from what we're used to. At least here these people have a reason to dislike us."
As he said this, he also prepared to take notes. 'Joey Trueno' he wrote at the top left of his paper. He then added 'Chapter1' at the top center of the page' He preferred to organize his notes by chapter instead of date.
"And how was your day?" he asked quietly, making sure to looks studious in case the teacher looked in his direction.

She smiled softly at him. The teacher had his back to the class as he was writing some formula's on the board. Raven of course was sitting close to JT, who now, from reading his paper, was Joey. She smiled at that, she liked it better than JT and wondered if he would let her call him that. She thought to ask but then he began to tell her all about his day and she listened intently wanting to get to know more about JT.
"I'm glad you had a good day." she said with a warm smile.
"As for myself, not so good. After I left you this morning, someone cut the strap of my bag with their knife and sliced the bottom open. So.. I'm going to have to get a new one now. Other then that it hasn't been so bad. I met a friend at lunch in the library and then kinda laid low for most of the day trying to be as invisible as possible." she said with a soft smile.
"Your real name is Joey? I like that. May I .. call you that?" she asked looking over into his eyes. She blushed softly but she kinda like JT. For some reason she had that 'I've got a crush' feeling and she had only just met him.
She would let him decide the next topic of coversation if he had anything he wanted to ask to get to know her. She smiled softly at him and blushed as she looked back down to her paper.

Joey was surprised that she hadn't had a good morning. He seemed to get by without much trouble, so he hadn't expect the Hircine students to resort to messing with girls. "Do you know who did it?" he asked, motioning toward her bag. He wasn't looking for trouble, but he also didn't like hearing that his friend was having problems.
Joey was surprised by her next question about calling him by his real name. He hadn't had anyone call him that for years. It had been so long, in fact, that he didn't even know if he would answer to it anymore.
"Uh, sure you can call me that." he said, giving her a hint in his voice that told her how rare of a question it was for him.
"So who did you meet at the library?" he asked, hoping it was a Varronian that he knew. He hadn't had an easy time talking to the Hircine students, so he was relatively confident that she hadn't made friends with one either.

She smiled brightly when he told her she could call him Joey. She liked that name better for some reason JT seemed so informal and Joey.. well it seemed like something a friend would call someone. She smiled even though his voice told her it was a weird question she was still happy that he didn't mind that and he seemed to be okay with her calling him that.
"No, I don't know who it was. It was a group of guys I probably could pick them out again if I had to but.. I think it's probably best to just ignore it. Maybe it won't happen again." she said softly.
He then asked her who she had met in the library at lunch and she smiled softly. The boy she had met was new to the school so he wasn't either Varronian nor Hircine but a completely new and unbaised person and that had been nice. One of her first friends here.
"His name was Gojyo. He just had his first day here too but he is from Germany. So he isn't Varronian or otherwise. He was nice. I shared my lunch with him and we talked. I was kinda hiding out in the library." she chuckled with a blush.
"Hey.. Joey?" she asked shyly as she looked at him. "I was.. well that is I... was wondering if you had plans.. after school. Well I mean after the bakery. I.. was thinking.. you've been so kind.. and I though well.. maybe you'd let me.. well.. cook you .. dinner? I promise I"m a good cook and I.. well I miss cooking for someone." she said as she bit her lower lip and looked down.
Great.. well that was an idiotic thing to do. Any other open seats in the class? Because Joey is about to seriously run away from her. She couldn't even just ask she had to stumble all over herself. That was bloody brilliant if there ever was anything so brilliant. She just wanted to cry now but she wouldn't. Not here. Raven had probably just ruined her first real friendship here and it was all thanks to her stupidity.

"Gojyo? That's really his name?" he asked, thinking that maybe it was just a nickname. But he didn't know many Germans, so he couldn't be sure.
Joey was surprised by the dinner invitation he was given. He had sort of been planning on hanging out with his roommates that night, but he figured it wasn't important that he spend time with them now. Besides, he had the whole year to hang out with them.
"Sure, I haven't had someone cook for me in a long time." he said, smiling. It wasn't often that he made genuinely good hearted friends and he was happy to have met one so early after his move to San Francisco.
Joey didn't know how he felt about Raven inviting him to her home, though. He liked that she did it, but he wasn't sure it was good for her to be so friendly to people she had just met. His time in Varron had taught him about the terrible things people were capable of, and he didn't want to see her getting hurt.
Brushing the thought out of his mind with the intention of bringing it up to her in a more appropriate place, he began to copy some of the notes that the teacher was putting on the board.

She chuckled softly.
"Yes, that really was his name. I swear. He said it was a nickname, I know it sounds a bit.. Japanese to me." she said with a shrug. "But then again Raven isn't the most Russian name I've ever heard."
Her accent was easily placed as Russian always had been. And she was indeed born and raised for ten years of her life in that country far across the sea. But she had been brought here and hence why she lived in America now rather than anywhere else. He even accepted her invitation to dinner and now.. well now she was very happy. She had something to truly look forward too and she could cook. Had been cooking for sometime now and even planned to attend some kind of culinary institute rather than a college when she graduated.
"I'm glad.. that you'll come." she said with a bright blush as she went about copying down the notes.
Most of her notes were in english. And as the teacher.. his back still turned.. began to explain some things she wrote indepth notes in Russian instead of English because for some reason it helped her memorization skills.
"Is there anything you might like for dinner? I can cook quite a bit so if you have a special request then please.. let me know." she said softly as she blushed again and looked up at him by turning her head slightly.
Her hair fell to cover her face and she tucked it back behind her ear with one finger. Her ear was pierced twice with small little studs in it that were rather just like her. Quiet and reserved not a very out spoken girl though she had her moments and she truly enjoyed being around her friends when she had any. Point was right now she was still in the making process. But perhaps with Joey it might change.

"Surprise me." he said sweetly. He was up for pretty much anything at that point and when it came to someone cooking for him, he would jump through hoops for just an average meal.
As he listened to the teacher speak, Joey soon began to get drowsy. He was never one to sit through a whole class paying full attention and being at Hircine didn't change a thing.
Just as he began nodding off, he heard an almost roar like sound coming from the teacher's mouth in the front of the room. Waking up quickly and looking up at the teacher, he watched as the man began pummeling on a student that had been sleeping.
'Whoa, that was almost me!' he thought as he watched the student get beaten to a pulp. In Varron he would have tried to help the student, but Hircine was still an unknown beast to him and he didn't feel like getting in too deep the first day.
Secretly, he lived for this sort of violence. But because Raven was next to him, he knew it would be best if he just acted like it was a terrible thing that was happening like everyone else.
"Looks like we aren't as far from home as we thought." he commented to Raven with a look of disgust on his face.

Raven was already contemplating what she would cook for him after he told her to 'suprise' him. She knew exactly what she wanted to make and she had all the ingrediants allready at home and she knew that it was one of those classic American dishes and so he might like that. So she smiled softly as she continued taking notes. She blushed softly as she watched him starting to nod off. he was.. so cute that way in his half asleep state.
She went back to her notes when suddenly a noise from the front of the room caught hers and Joey's attention. She gasped and without thinking at all her hand dropped her pencil and she grabbed Joey's hand gently. She clenched it as she bit her lip closed her eyes and looked away placing her forehead on his shoulder gently letting her hair fall to hide her face from the view. She winced every time she heard a blow hit and she squeezed Joey's hand gently. She was not even blushing but she would when it was all over.
"Sorry... I just.. " she closed her eyes leaving her sentence hanging as the student in the front of the room got beaten. When it finally was over she didn't move just yet. It was as if she was much too worried it was going to happen again. She had never witnessed a teacher beating a student before. She was blushing now realizing she was not only holding his hand but leaning against him and now she was worried what his reaction would be hopefully he wouldn't hate her. Hopefully he wouldn't mind.

Joey put his arm around Raven as she winced at the student's pain. He was expecting her to be more accustomed to violence after coming from Varron, but he also figured that he had always looked for trouble more than the average person and that was probably why he was exposed to it so often.
"Its alright, everythings ok." he whispered to Raven as the teacher finished his beating. He then gently lifted her face from his shoulder so that she was looking into his eyes. "Are you ok?" he asked softly.
It wasn't his nature whatsoever to act so tender toward someone, but Raven seemed to be truly frightened by the teacher and he couldn't help but care for her well being. 'Heh, I'm such a softy.' he thought to himself jokingly.
As the teacher returned to his spot in the front of the class, Joey helped Raven back into her seat before going back to copying his notes, taking periodical glances toward her to see how she was coping.

Raven felt his arm going around her and she blushed deeply but she didn't move. She really needed comfort for a moment it was something that she didn't have anymore. And now he, Joey, was the one giving it to her and she couldn't help but feel the need to thank him even more now than before. He whispered to her ear telling her that everything was going to be okay. She nodded softly. Soon the sounds stopped and he gently lifted up her head gently to look into her eyes and asked her if she was okay.
"I'll be alright. Thank you, so much." she said softly.
He helped her back into her seat. She blushed and smiled as she sat in her seat and began to write down her notes. There were tears in her eyes. But she would wipe them away before they fell. That had brought back quite a few memories of Felix and herself when they lived in Varron still. He seemed to keep checking on her and she blushed softly locking eyes with him once.
"I'll be okay. I promise." she said. She gently slid her hand over to his and held it gently. She blushed as she picked up her pencil with her left hand and began to write a bit. It was a bit more sloppy but it was neat enough and she was more listening than anything else.

(OOC- Alright, time to wrap this up.)
Joey was glad that she was ok, though he was sure the beaten student couldn't see the same. The boy was being forced to sit there and pay attention, despite the terrible condition he was put in by the teacher. Joey remembered how many times he had seen this before and how ineffective the method was in Varron.
'I wonder if corporal punishment works better here.' he thought to himself.
It felt good to have Raven put her hand around his and ensure him that she wasn't shooken up anymore. He had sensed a certain chemistry between them, but he didn't pay much attention to it until now.
As the time went by, Joey contemplated if he wanted to start something between them or not. He knew she was much too sweet to ever want to be with him once she found out about all the things he had done for Kvist at Varron. But even so, he felt an attraction to her innocent personality. 'Opposites attract, I suppose.' he thought, smiling a little.
As the bell rang, he reminded Raven to meet him at his locker after school before smiling and turning to leave for his next gym class.

Joey didn't seem to mind that her hand was holding his in the least. In fact he didn't pull away or anything merely let her hand stay there holding his. Class ended far too soon for her liking. She had one last class to go to. Joey rose and looked at her reminding her to meet him at his locker after school. She smiled and blushed as she rose up and began to put her things in her bag.
"I'll be there waiting." she said happily.
He left and Raven watched him go with a soft blush on his face. She smiled softly. She liked Joey he was nice and kind to her. Even holding her when she saw something that she didn'twant to see. It was nice to meet someone that would do that for someone they had just met this morning. Raven left the physics room with her bag in hand going off to choir.
((OOC: You get to start the next thread!!! Hehe, just PM it to me when you get it started, if you're still interested in doing it that is.))
