She drifted along the wide river of San Francisco. Just now, the ship would be traveling under the Golden Gate bridge inland. Shamino was surrounded by blackjack and poker tables, roulette, and two or three crapps tables. In the far distance, at the edge of the ship, was the open bar. However, it was on another floor that the restaurant and the good drinks were at. He sat at a private table, elevated several feet in the air on its own balcony. Behind him was a door that would lead to employee staircases, bringing him to any floor. He was blockaded by red velvet ropes, and the air around him smelt like ten dollar cigars. In his mouth sat one churchill cigar, and the smoke lingered in his mouth a moment before behind exhaled out the side of his mouth. He leaned back in his chair, his eyes scanning the massive open floor. He was oblivious to the two men that stood at attention behind him, being paid over thirty dollars an hour to stand around and look menacing.
"Open for business tomorrow night..." He said as he brought all four legs down onto the floor. He stood up with the aid of one hand, the other hand removing the cigar to tap the ashes onto an ashtray. He jumped over the velvet rope, and began walking about. There were many windows on the ship, but the inside was temperature-controled, so she didn't have to be closed on colder days. "Tell someone to turn the temperature down." Shamino said, as if to himself. One of the two men slid into the staircase immediately. Shamino undid the first two buttons to his shirt, exhaling a large breath. "Whew. Oh, my, me..." Shamino mumbled as he placed more ashes into a near by, well placed ash tray. "Months of sitting about here and i still can't get used to the heat. Damn southern American states..."
His hand went to his custom cell phone, and as he picked up the call his number changed instantly. "Yes?"
"Varron students are trickling into the local highschool."
Shamino peered out the closest window to get a good view of Hircine High's campus, a few lights twinkling in the night. "Why?"
"Problems back home. Hircine high's the only one that would take them in. Many came voluntarily. Its like they're following you."
The other person hung up, their voice muted and computed. "Following me is right." Shamino spoke into the phone before closing it. He looked towards the window, but the view of the school was already gone. "This may be a problem..."
