Spider looked up at the buildings in front of him, an unpleasant grimace on his face. The click of the zippo as it open and closed seemed to drown out the hustle and bustle of the school. 'Hircine...again' The journalist thought to himself. '6 months... now I have to go through all of this shit. again.'
"Fuck," He murmured to himself. Obviously there had been a huge number of changes while he'd been in Europe. That met he'd need to catch up with whoever he could. Most of his connections here had atrophied while he was away. That meant he'd need to build his whole network from the ground up. again.
"Fuck." He said, closing the lighter one final time.
Hurling a mental barrage of foul insults, he pocketed the zippo, shouldered his laptop case, and walked through the doors.
---
Damien sat outside at lunch, staring at his laptop, looking for a column. It was stupid, apparently, to have a several thousand dollar computer out in the middle of this cesspool of violence.
The screen darkened as a pair of shadows moved over it. Damien sighed, closing both his eyes and his laptops. He turned his head slightly to see that the forms were large, and by contemporary standards, somewhat imposing. Letting loose an exasperated blast of air, Spider rose, turned, and faced his would-be attackers.
They were both big, wide, and tatooed. Spider immediately dubbed the one on the left, the smarter looking of the two, Long Pig, and the bigger, dumber one, Lurch.
Long Pig opened his mouth, but Spider cut him off.
"I'm assuming you two are here because you want to take something of mine, by force if necessary. I know and understand this. Now you both need to know and understand that you will need to use force to take whatever shiny item has caught your eye away from me. So let's cut the fucking pleasantries shall we?" Spider snarled, rage burning behind his eyes.
Lurch and Long Pig looked at each other, a look of confusion on both of their faces.
With a growl, Damien made the look even stupider by planting a boot in Long Pig's cheek. With a groan, he went down.
Lurch roared and charged, and wrapped Damien's midsection up, and took them both to the ground. Spider, annoyed that this lug had put him on the ground, shook his head with several strong rights. Lurch began rise, only to catch an elbow in the bridge of the nose. A cut opened up, and blood ran down the larger man's face. Lurch slackened, and with a quick shift, Damien forced him to his back, taking his neck in a rear naked choke. Lurch tried several half-hearted punches to dislodge him, but eventually lay very still, unconscious.
Damien got out from under the idiot, and rose to his feet, grinning like a madman.
"Goddamn!" He shouted "That's more like it."
He turned toward Hircine, and wondered, that this time, what would it hold for him.
Many columns, to be sure...
