Lye brushed his hand through his hair as the shower drenched his whole body. It was an ice cold shower that served the purpose of cleaning your body before entering the pool. He was glad to be able to get in the water. It had almost been five months since he had been in a pool. His leg had healed but it was still weak. It was his first day to Hircine High. He was glad to be here, despite what he had heard from his new neighbours. They had said It was a dangerous school. Kids always fighting each other.. Lye was saddened by this, he had just left a violent life behind him. He wasn’t ready for a new one, but despite there warnings he had not seen one incident. He still saw the way some people looked at each other. The gangs who hung around in large groups. One he had been told where The Watchmen. The unofficial protectors of the school body. He wasn’t sure about that, people in power change too easily. He registered and attended a few classes. He had a guide, although quite attractive, was not someone who he connected to. She left him at pool at the end of the day.
It was a strange system the Americans used. Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior. He was used to just having six different years high of school. The whole system of Pillar and Captains. It was just beyond him. It was going to have to get some getting used to.
Lye stepped out of the shower refreshed and ready to swim. He moved out of the changing area onto the pool side. He was impressed by the size of it. A 50m Olympic sized swimming pool. He glanced around the pool. No one was there. He had the pool to himself. He new it wouldn’t last long. The swim team was scheduled to be in soon. He would only do a few laps. He walked to the deep end and placed his pale cream swimming cap on. It was a tight fit. His hair had gotten long. He placed his Speedo goggles on and stepped up onto the starting point. He was also wearing Speedo tight swimming shorts. He still had a lot of tone around his body but a lot of muscle had dropped of due to his recovery period. He would enjoy try to get back in shape. He always relished the challenge. He did a clean dive in and went straight into a front crawl. Slightly feeling the tension in his left ankle. He did the first 50m in a good time, thirty four seconds. The next was slower by four seconds. He was going to have to raise his stamina back up. All though he was no Olympic champion he was still quite fast. He pulled up to the edge to the pull panting heavily. He was smiling. He truly loved the water. He liked this pool. It was a good temperature. Not hot enough to distract and not cold enough to tense your muscles. It had a strong smell of chlorine though. Lye sensed someone watching and began to glance around.
