My body was pushed into a locker. My back dented it somewhat. And the back of my head was cut open by the lock. The air left my body at full speed and I could see black dots appear in front of my eyes. I was not sure how, but this 6’5’’ tall and 270 lbs student managed to sneak up on me and push me aside like that. But he had, and I was paying for it right now. My blood pulsed slowly, but steadily out on my white shirt. I would not notice this until later, for my instincts had already begun to kick in, and one of those instincts had caused me to push myself away from the locker. Ignoring pain and injuries. My left hand swung around and appeared in his view for a moment before his view had been knocked into place for a short time. He stumbled back in surprise and opened his mouth to threaten me or something. By that time, by face had already been planted heavily inside of his nose. It cracked under the pressure and his blood sprayed out on my face. My arms slipped up from his wrists and pulled him down by the shoulders and he felt my right knee turn his chest into a mess. Just to finish it all, my right elbow found a nice spot in the back of his head to hit, and his face hit the ground and his already broken face turned almost jelly like.
I wanted to stomp him in the back of his head, but people were watching me, and I could not allow myself to look like a barbarian from Paragon. The student at my feet, was such a barbarian. The dozen of students behind him, were barbarians. The students lying broken and defeated, had been civilized people. There had even been a couple of teachers who had been broken while I was fighting this student.
My vision was now almost normal and I could give these barbarians a fair fight. And their raid leader seemed to be down for the count, so there was only the snake’s body to deal with. It would be child's play compared to this guy. My determination to look good in front of the hircine students behind me paid off, some of them stepped up to help me hold off these invaders. And when the battle begun, it was almost even. Not in numbers, but in quality versus quantity. Except for one factor. Me. I made the odds uneven. I could single handedly taken down half of these grunts before I would have begun to slow down and take too many hits. But, with these people taking hits for me while thinking they were fighting for a good cause. The defense of the school. But I, John Smith, A.K.A Kvist, had no intention to share this victory with anyone. So, people I could have saved from being beaten, was beaten down and went unconcious. In the end, it was 3 vs 1. And you might think, hey, the barbarians had me outnumbered. But afraid not. We had him outnumbered. There is one distinct difference between Paragon and Hircine. The experience in fighting. Hircine was simply too peaceful to be a real challange to a full scale Paragon invasion. My two companions felt confident in numbers and attacked. But like an animal cornered, the barbarian dealt with them swiftly. Leaving it one on one. And I flashed a mild smile. Just the way I liked it.
I saw a knife appear, and felt that this was a bit more serious than I had first anticipated. They had not supposed to be armed. Hmm. Mistakes happened somewhere along the line of things. I could handle it. Dodge of the stab, grab limb, rotate around, snap wrist, snap elbow, and give elbow in the face and solar plexus. Ignore cries of pain and dislocate his shoulder as well. Take knife, and keep it as a trophy. Look at damages. Blood from the back of the head, dried, no further bleeding. Minor bruise on the bottom lip. A dodge that had been too slow. A cut across my palm that was bleeding rather severely. I took a part of the guy’s shirt and ripped it off and applied it around my hand. And begun a tiresome work of finding Hircine students who I could help to the infirmary, with the aid of several people, students and teachers alike, I managed to bring the majority of those unable to walk to the infirmary. The number of injured was staggering. There was well above 40 students with some sort of injury. A handful of those were serious and could no be treated at the infirmary at the school. The Barbarians in turn, had suffered a total defeat. But even that victory would taste bitter. Because total victory had involved beating up a dozen of their students.
The score so far:
Hircine: 12. Paragon: 40+
Hircine had lost the first real battle.
And I couldn’t have been anymore pleased with that outcome.
