Hey I'm sorta new here. (Well not just here but to RPing in general on the net.) Anyway after I created my bio I realized, after looking at some others, that i don't have a pic.
Now I don't know if I need a pic but it sure looks like it helps in terms of a visual for others.
Anyway my question is, whats acceptable for a pic. I can't draw so thats out of the question. But I see people with like pictures of anime characters or video game characters. I didn't know if some picture off the internet would work or not. I wanted to ask before I did anything that might offend somebody.

So long as the character's not naked or might offend particular groups, then it's totally fine. Make sure it's not too big though, or else we'll ask that you just link it.
Pretty legitimate and easy, though a good question. Bio pics aren't necessary, but if you find a drawing or model online that fits your character, toss it up.

When you find a pic be sure to still give a description of what the person wears. Although it may come off as unnecessary it'll help you get used to writing specific detail if you're not already. That's just my suggestion though. And, yeah, ******'s right on the dot.

Ah, your character name is one thing to cover.
As you've noticed, the rest of us have changed our account names to better fit the name of our character. Obviously my account isn't listed as "Allen Daughtry," but rather as "daughtry," but we fortunately have a display name to use.
If you click on the "Profiles" tab and hit the "Modify Profile" button, you'll see a text box on the top section of the modify page that talks about this display name. Just write in your desired name (such as "Rick Green") and then click the confirm button at the bottom of the page, and you're set.
As for bios, remember that they're locked, so you can't modify them on will without asking a moderator to unlock them.
Also, don't get discouraged if people don't post in your threads. I'm not sure if you've had that problem yet, but everyone always has that feeling at some point. Just understand that you might have either written a thread that is hard for people to join, or it's simply that others are too busy to roleplay with a new member. As a new member like yourself, sometimes it can be easier to join threads than making them, as you guarantee interaction.
That's all I've got so far.

Thanks for the input again, and yeah I was starting to get the feeling that I shouldn't have posted my own thread. Nice to know more experienced members are nice to enough to give a little guidance when needed.
So thank you Allen, or is it Leon??

So thank you Allen, or is it Leon?? Right Click [image] --> Properties ...Or just go to Allen's profile. It's not that hard to miss, dudes. Meanwhile, I think the image end got covered already, so there isn't much to add--no no on nakey, no no on horrible-ness. I personally like leaving my characters' appearances up other RPers' imaginations. It makes interesting fanart.

I don't think it was insulting so much as discussing, but i'm new to this group of people so I could be wrong.
Oh, and I wanted to ask before I did anything. Can we delete our own threads or is that discouraged. Like the one i put up Rough Start.

He's only kidding. That's the pain of text.
But deleting a thread is technically allowed, but it's discouraged, especially if others have posted in that particular thread. Though, to point out, deleting the first post of a thread doesn't mean it's deleted unless it's the ONLY post in the thread. Still, best not to delete a thread unless you don't like it.

Can we delete our own threads or is that discouraged. Like the one i put up Rough Start. Far be it for me to be giving advice, being a newcomer and all, but if I were in your shoes (having a thread that isn't getting much attention), I'd copy/paste it and save it, and do some editing on it. You built a foundation for something, no point tossing it because it didn't get a response this time around, right? Besides, who knows, you might still GET a response to it, just not as quickly as you'd think. I know the curse of the newbie from other boards. I'm going out of my way to avoid it by deliberately baiting out people who'll post to me. But, hey, if you feel like it, I'll run a thread with you sometime. I'm looking for stuff to keep me occupied, and it gets us both some extra practice in.

PM me if you're stuck for something and we'll set something up. The advice works, I've done it on other boards, and it's saved wasting what was a perfectly good thread several times. Oh, and I wouldn't worry about short OOC posts. I just talk a load of crap. XD

Yeah, definitely if I can think of anything I'll definitely let you know.
Oh and I know your all probably annoyed as hell of my questions by now, but I've got one more. Since joining and posting a few times, I've found that I hate posting in the first person. Mostly because using the word 'I' so much has become really annoying. So from now on i'd like to use the third person point of view for my posts. I was just wandering though if matters if I changed writing perspectives in a thread I've already posted a few times in the first person?
That was very overdrawn out question wasn't it?

It's alright to switch your writing style in the middle of a thread, just don't do it in the middle of a post. So, as long as you start off in third person, and end in third person, your fine.
