Xenarius was lost. Not only was he lost but he was lost in an area of the city he knew very well. For most this would be an impossible feat. But what set this situation apart was that he wasn't lost because he didn't know where he was. He was lost because he didn't really know where he was going. He had been told about a really good sandwich shop somewhere in this area by a kid at school, and decided to try it out. The only problem was that the kid didn't know the name of the shop or where it actually was because he had gone with some friends one time about a year ago and... The kids excuse went on but that was really only as much as Xenarius really paid attention to.
So for the past forty-five minutes or so he had been wandering aimlessly trying to find this sandwich place. To say the least he was getting rather annoyed with the whole situation, and was starting to think the kid might have given him bad information. But he wasn't quite ready to give up yet. Turning down another street he looked at all the signs as he walked by them. Not on this street either, he thought as he continued walking. He crossed the street to go down the next block hoping he would find the shop soon. He was getting rather hungry and as his hunger increased, so did his aggravation with the search.
This isn't working... "Sir..." He said to the next passer by. The man just kept walking as if he hadn't said anything at all.
"Sir could you please-"
"Can't you see I'm busy kid!" The man said brushing past Xenarius.
"Sir?"
"Ma'am-"
"Sir-"
No one at all seemed to have any concern for him, or even enough time to really acknowledge him. He was used to this treatment from adults at this point. But still he was surprised by the complete lack of courtesy any of the people he tried to hail on the street showed. Ah well... I guess its the hard way then.
He stepped up on the raised concrete base of a lamp post and yelled, "Excuse me! Can anybody help me?"
