((ooc-You can skip down to the end if you want, I was really bored at work. Heh))
“Thanks Bob, I’ll call a Taxi for a ride back to the restaurant.”
Victoria waved off the car, as it turned the corner and made its way back to the opposite side of the city. She turned towards the large building. Its massive frame casting shadows on the door ways. Its small platforms of flowers littering the walkway separating one side from the other. It was cheerful and pleasant. It was filled with so much that could burst forth from the building itself. It even made Victoria gasp at the mere size of it. It was a mall.
Letting the awe take her away. She had never been to one this size. If she couldn’t find some new boots and clothing here then she couldn’t find it anywhere. Setting off, she took large strides. That confident feeling that oozed off of her as she passed through the doors. She knew what she wanted. She wouldn’t be intimidated by the size and the galore of this place.
Moving into the entrance the first thing she saw was a food court. She mouth watered, she hadn’t had lunch and the growl in her belly led her to believe it was time for food. Shaking her head she walked firm. She wouldn’t be tempted, she would hold strong and wait until she was back at the restaurant. But jeeze does those pretzels look good, she kept telling herself mentally. She could feel her mouth water even more from the smell of the sugar cinnamon delight. She loved sugar cinnamon pretzels they were up there along with Ice cream and pizza. Hold strong Victoria, you don’t want to do it.
Five minutes later after taking a long time to decide Victoria held a sugar cinnamon pretzel in her hand wrapped in a napkin to help hold without getting her hands too sticky.
“Mmmmm, so good, Im so going to hell.”
She felt guilty in knowing that she had suppressed that urge to eat something that wasn’t healthy for her. She was never one to gain weight as easily but it had always pressed in her mind that if she kept it up she would gain 5 lbs in no time flat.
Indulging in the sugary mess she finished it off with a few licks on her fingertips and wiped them good and well with the napkin. After cleaning her hands and throwing away the remains, she shoved her hands in her pockets and made her way into the main area of the mall.
“Hmm, I wonder where I can find some tank tops. Its not particularly spring or the season for it.”
Victoria walked in a few stores. Using her waitressing money she bought herself two new pair of jeans, a few zip up hoodies and some socks. Thank god for new socks. Making her way into a shoe store, she walked up the isle
“You would think 8 and a ½ wouldn’t be a popular size.”
She rubbed her chin looking at the lousy selection. Moving towards the end of the section of 8 and ½ 's she found just what she was looking for. Picking them up she examined them. Leather, tie up and zipper, hmm no scuff marks, no holes worn in the soles. Perfect. Looking down at her rather worn pair she feel kinda attached to them. They have been through everything she had been through. The fights, the walks, kicking peoples faces in. She had happy memories with her boots. She didn’t know if she could part with them to be honest.
Sitting at the little bench she untied her boots, a little time consuming than the new pair would be but still she took her time to loosen each level of strings and pulled it off with a slight tug. Dropping the old boot on the floor. It showed its true age. She had to guess that she’s had them for at least 4 years. Good old, dependable boots.
Unzipping the side of the new boot she held it in her hand. It still weighed a good amount, still stiff from being new leather but eh she would go running in them to wear them down. Putting her foot into the boot she didn’t bother to untie the laces instead she merely zipped up the side, stood up and examined them in the small mirror on the floor. They looked good, shinny, and actually quite comfortable. She did a bouncing movement, taking a few steps to feel if it pinched in the ankle. But it seemed fine.
“Hmm, I think Ill get these.”
Turning and looking at the back of them she was quite pleased.
“Sorry old boys, you have just been replaced.”
And within minutes she had replaced the new with her old shoe, had the new ones back in their box and in the new shopping bag that she held in her hands.
“So lets see. I still need some tank tops and some undergarments. Hmm lets look in here.”
Moving to the left she went into a store that’s name made her laugh slightly
“Victoria’s Secret. I wonder if this is my kind of secret.”
She smirked to herself looking at the beautiful lace and satin. They were all quite pretty. A little too girly for Victoria but some black lace never hurt any body. Looking through the various colors, textures, brands. She happened to come across some cute lacy two piece. Looking down at her chest she couldn’t remember what size she was in.
To be honest after her reconstruction surgery she just used some sports bras she happened to buy at some small little store in New York. Her puzzled look must have brought on some attention for a small petite blonde came strolling over with a big smile.
“Do you need some help?”
Victoria wasn’t sure if she wanted help or if she was just going to guess the size. She never like anyone fiddling with her breast after the cancer. It was hard enough to ignore when the doctors had to feel, to make sure the silicone was placed right. The thought made her rather uncomfortable. Knowing she was no longer all natural.
“Um, I, don’t know? I”
The woman seemed to understand her uneasiness as Victoria stood there holding the lacy two piece.
“Now don’t you worry. Im good at guessing but if you want I can just measure your bust line and we can get you’re the perfect size. I promise it will be quick and simple.”
The woman’s voice seemed experienced as if she had worked there all her life. It seemed to ease Victoria a bit. So Victoria agreed. She had remembered her time at the specialty shop when she had to get her bras after the surgery that had taken her right breast. She would have to take off her shirt and the women would measure around her bust area to get an accurate measure. Moving into a dressing room of sorts, she was instructed to remove her bulky hoodie that she was wearing and to put her arms out. Victoria did so.
“Well It looks like you’re a good size, O dear.”
Victoria looked down at the women who had a sorrowful face. She didn’t know why she had said that but it made her feel uneasy again. The woman continued to speak in a soft tone.
“I see you’re a half size, between a C and a D. This is not good. That pretty lacy two piece we don’t have in stock for the half size.”
Victoria seemed to calm down, she thought the woman would have made a mention about her tattoo or maybe she could see one of her scars. Her scars made her uneasy. But being that it was only because Victorias breasts had to be half size, it caused her to breath a sigh of relief.
“Hmm I might have some satin, or we can fit you into a C, it will just be a little small, if you really wanted the black lace two piece. I mean I can look in the back for any other styles that might please you.”
The woman had her happy go lucky tone of voice again as she left to go look in the back. Victoria replaced her bulky hoodie and moved back into the storefront. It was true of what the lady said, her black lace two piece was not a half size. She didn’t think a C would be too bad, it would give her more cleavage but not an overly stuffed look. She contemplated the set as the woman came back with some dark shades of laces.
“Unfortunately I don’t have black lace in your particular size but I have a nice burgundy or navy. A dark grey would look nice. I have some black satin, soft as silk, curves and lifts as if they were on air.”
She had a whimsical voice about her as she described the undergarments. Victoria was impressed by her dedication to her job. In fact she had talked Victoria into buying the red and dark grey as well as the black satin one. This woman knew how to sweet talk and by the time Victoria was out of the store she had a weeks worth of bras and underwear along with a new belts for her corset or girdle.
Shaking her head and laughing at the large bags now filled with her clothing, she wished she had someone to help her with all this stuff. Maybe she could have asked Sally to join her. Surely she would have been fun to shop with. Turning her head in the direction she had yet to go down, she seen a hair shop.
Looking up at the long hairs that were in her face. She thought maybe it was time for a little trim. Her hair was practically past her shoulders. She never liked the fact that she had to do so much with it for it to just frizz and look bad an hour later. She missed her short, wild hair.
Dragging her hand through her long mane of hair she decided it was time.
“Off to the butcher with you”
It didn’t take very long. The girl that was assigned to cut her hair was surprised at the request. After all from shoulder length to spikes was a big change. Victoria had insisted and soon after a shampoo, a cut and a shave in the back she was back in business.
Victoria felt more like her old self with her hair now in its proper shape. Those long tendrils that got into her eyes, gone. Those pesky short strands that didn’t want to go into a ponytail, gone. She felt relieved that so much pressure on her hair had been gone. Feeling refreshed with the cool air hitting the back of her neck again, she nearly ran into someone when turning from the store.
“O sorry”
She said as she tried to pick up her fallen bags. Moving her eyes towards the person that she practically made fall back her eyes lit up.
“Well, Well isn’t it Kira Karyuudo. It has been a long time since I have seen you. Its been what, since Christmas, a couple years I believe since I saw you last.”
The long haired brunette had not changed from what Victoria had remembered. Never caused any trouble for Victoria to keep tabs on her. She hoped she had been good and that the change had not been too hard on her.
“Thanks Bob, I’ll call a Taxi for a ride back to the restaurant.”
