It's started to come to my attention that a few things regarding the students financial situations are...Well, to put it in light and gentle terms, fucked up.
I can list the characters on this board with genuine reasons to have large amounts of money on two hands. It's understandable a few of them will have decent sums of money to hand, but then why is it I'm seeing characters who do not explain the aforementioned means driving cars worth a million dollars? No, not a chance. There are TWO characters on this site capable of having the overhead to afford a vehicle like that, and when you consider that more often than not they're rare to find...Well, I think my point is made there.
No, you cannot be driving a car like this if 'Your parents own it' or 'It was a gift' (I've heard worse excuses than these).
Same rule applies for housing. It's the basic reason why all students except those with family in the city are expected to live in the dorm facilities. You are not millionaires off the bat, and as I was very notably informed, think of it like this. Where the HELL do you think a new driver is going to get insurance on a $300'000 car? I thought so.
Last point to make. Driving PERMITS are issued at 16. Your character is NOT to be driving under the age of 17 years. I don't think that's too hard to make clear.

It may not seem like a large issue, and i mean, a good excuse is 'but this is RP, its supposed to be fun'. But its also supposed to be mildly realistic. The laws of real life are in place, here. And a car is a status symbol, as well as a way to be getting around. There shouldn't be a single highschool student driving a car on this board that's worth more than $50 000 tops. As a car enthusiast, it personally bothers me to see people driving 1969 Camaro's in mint condition, or European supercars where less than 300 were made. I remember one character on the old board (no idea if he got past the transition here) owned a Ferrari where only 50 existed today, at 17 years old. If you want to drive and you're 17, fine. but do an OUNCE of research into the vehicle you post pictures of, or your character claims to own.
I know for a FACT there isn't a single parent in the world that would let their child drive their Porsche/Ferrari/Jag/etc.. Because every time they do, they end up on the 5 O'clock news in a body bag at the tail end of an Iraqi newsbit.

I'd just like to note here...The most 'expensive' cars Taiku has ever owned consisted of a Mercedes SLR (most recent), and a Cadillac XLR (a gift from Shamino back in the day). He has simple taste, and whilst they aren't CHEAP cars, they're not hideously expensive in comparison to some of the wagons getting rolled around in on the site.
Hell, Taiku has the second highest revenue on this site, and he drives cars cheaper than most of them. I think that says a few things...

If I remember correctly, it was Kazuki who bought Kokaku his expensive car? So in fact my excuse of 'it was a gift' is fully legim, since you are the one who bought it?

It's not a real gift if you just write as an offshoot in your bio that some rich uncle who we'll strangely never see has bought it for you cus he thought it'd be a 'neat' gift.

i never understood the use for driving expensive cars. what's wrong with customizing cheap ones? It's worth it and doesn't show off how much wealth you have. Are people asking to be mugged? I propose we have all the VIP members start mugging the rich kids XD

Save the enviroment, take the bus.

Also, just to note, you don't have to have a great car to have a great character.
Ein is bad ass, he drives a VW Thing.
Enough said.

An S2K with a little less than 10k put into it isn't so bad..... Right? Don't try and put yourself on the map or make specifics, or we could be here forever. you KNOW the reasonable limit, this thread is to make sure people KNOW that we do pay attention to that sort of stuff.

If you're going for gas efficiency, why not just go buy a f*cking moped?

Y'know... legends say that, if you look hard enough, you can find this thing called 'mass transportation' that will take you where you need to go for the tiniest fraction of the price it would cost in gasoline to get there by car.
So, if you want fuel efficiency, stick with that.
Oh yeah, this thread's served it's purpose and is becoming spam, maybe we should do something about that.
