What is it with us that this site is gradually closing itself off to one big bunch of storylines?
I look around and all I see are 'closed' tags on threads. EVERYWHERE. I've been very relaxed regarding this as a whole, but it needs to be toned down. Some of these threads are specifically being exploited to injure characters, preventing outside intervention. Now, I don't know about you, but that seems a little bull to me. I'll admit that due to Taikus non-presence in the school, he has a lot less in terms of storylines to offer. I'll also admit that recently I've posted a lot of storyline advancement posts involving Kira, but at the same time I've thrown up the odd thread here and there in the hopes that SOMEONE will join into it. It's not too hard to do, just write something that your character is doing and let someone come along!
I'm content to accept that right now, people have their own storylines and stuff, but at the same time this is a whole new scenario for most of the Varronites, and a twist to the usual method of things for Hircine students. Try and mingle some more with each other, and stop posting threads with (Person A) after the title. It's bullshit nine out of ten times.
Fuck this, first open thread I find, I'm going into it. Right now.
Damn, Kei was right when he raised this last time. I'm also daring at least a handful of characters to put up open threads throughout the site.

THANK YOU. Nah, but seriously. I'm starting to think that all threads being responded to are those that say "open", and those with sole titles are invited or known to another before it's even made. But, as so, I'm sure most people can understand the frustration of having a somewhat-large (I think it's large anyways) board run with so many cliques around. Yeah, all of the personal stuff is important, but, you shouldn't try to race into having an overall "completed" character. It's usually the best when RPing with a brand-new member, since you can help him, and even talk to him on the side (hell, the first person I RPed with was Jack/Jackal December 5, 2004 and he became my best friend, and I still talk to him when I can). So, interacting with someone new can put you back in there shoes, and it'd be a highly refreshing start. I remember back when I started to slow down on my Role-Playing, I purposely looked for new registrants (at the time it was C&A, Manji, Tokuya or something, and I forget who else. It was around March of 2005) and gave Keisuke (and me) a reason to be around the school more often; it was fun watching someone other than yourself improveYou know, there's really nothing we can do about it, and we know that clearly. There's no harsh punishment awaiting any one of you for what is clearly bothering some people, you know? We only want to shed some light on this matter, as fellow members of this site. We're RPers too (yeah, even me. I DO try, and even made a decision to give it up three days ago as a matter of fact. But, now I'm given some hope and therefore want to play this game right. Again, don't take this as an attack against any or all of you. We only hope for what every RPB hopes for, interaction at a bigger scale. Here's a thread of mine remaining "open". "Growth."~Manuel

To be honest, I really think it's because when the board was swarmed with open threads, we went bitching and wanted some storylines... some more serious stuff. I am all for open threads, but if you have an open thread, there's usually someone replying to it who knows the person, which makes it difficult for new people to actually fit in with them anyway.
Main problem with open threads is that people tend to not really think about them too much. Doesn't mean it's a bad thread per se, but usually open threads involve a fight starting somewhere, someone having a big mouth etc. (old forum at least) With storylines however, the writers have actually taken the time to set up this thing that involves more then just random fights etc. I am all for open threads, don't take me wrong, I just hope to see some more depths in open threads as well, which can only be considered as a pro.

I can't help but chuckle at how the last "We need open threads" speach ended up creating the bigest event this site has seen so far. Think on that one kiddies.
I'm having a bad run with writing lately, wavering in and out of writing moods and writers block, so I shant be making anything till I can kill a few threads I'm already in. But I'll get into the opens as soon as my load lightens.

Hey, there's an open thread... and another one, and oh, another!
Sorry guys, but I disagree on this. To me, this sight of "This person only," and so forth is nothing different than we've ever had in our two years. I looked in the various school sections to find TONS of Open threads, dead or alive. Also, any sections that are simply "closed" typically allow for others to show up later, hence examples like "Valencia, Open" or "Genaht Recruitment, WIDE Open."
First we want socializing, then we want storylines, but really, is it actually possible to have massive storylines just out of nowhere? People have friends, and they like to keep it with people they know. This is natural. And even still, I see very few personal storylines going on in the midst. The only closed events I've seen thus far are the actions of the Hand of Fate reorganizing, or Mason's group, or my own. These are for storyline reasons to come, and that's why we can't just let any random person just show up out of nowhere, or else we know they'll come to bite us in the ass.
It's unfounded to be complaining about our current situation. It's absolutely fine, there are plenty of threads to join that are open and sociable, and if you disagree then GO MAKE ONE. Stop ordering people around and do something yourself for once.

Well the problem is if everyone is caught up in their own closed threads, then the open thread will be pointless if nobody is joining.

Well the way I saw it was that Abel is still kinda advancing his story and I'm just getting back into Drake. I will either make a open thread or join one since I haven't really done much with Drake since I had him finally be released from the hospital.

Stop ordering people around and do something yourself for once. I find myself rather pissed off you're directing that remark at me, John. Firstly, I wasn't ordering anyone around. I was raising a point and, if I'm not mistaken, I 'dared' members to put up open threads. Nobody was TOLD to do a fucking thing. Secondly, do something MYSELF for once? What the hell is that supposed to mean!?

For one, the fact that you're running in huffing and puffing over this is hardly any better than ordering Liam. However, I want you to know that statement was not directed at you at all, since I know very well that you've been sending yourself out left and right in various directions. The Coffee thread we're in, the fight with Adam, the date with Kira, your own approval to join the Progress thread, et cetera.
That was aimed as a general statement. I'm simply wanting people to stop worrying over this "storyline against socializing" matter and try to push themselves, either in OOC or IC, to get into those open threads we've seen if it bothers you that much. But from what I'm reading, it's exactly how it should be. Period.
I'm just rather frustrated, and even a bit offended, that you guys keep acting like we're nothing but invited threads and personal storylines. You know as well as I do that we're doing pretty well with open threads, especially in comparison to our experiences on the other boards and their extreme tendencies to invited threads.

Okay, I'm locking this.
I'm not going to let the bickering get out of hand with people arguing over nothing. If we need to we'll work this out in VIP or on MSN.
Of course I'm not in charge, and a good deal of you could unlock this if you wanted to. I'm just putting this in to keep everyone in check. Everyone take a step back, and calm down. This isn't somethin that should be leaking out into the open.
