Pretty blunt question here folks: Who here has knowledge or abilities with Proboards coding and/or Photoshopping? Because, while this is up to your own interpretation, I feel like we could use a bit of a face lift on the board's skin theme, and if anyone could be helpful in designing a fresh and sleek new look - possibly similar to that of 552, but does not need to be so heavy - then please PM me and let me know.
Otherwise, I'll try to find a designer from the other boards, so please let me know as soon as possible.

My primary concern is that the board doesn't lose its integrity with the 'makeover'. So long as it generally retains its feel and doesn't go 'sterile', I don't mind.
We need to keep the main board image, the logo that came with us. The background image....I'd LIKE it to remain there in some capacity, but if change brings something better, I'd be fine with it.

I don't see how changing the skin would effect the "integrity" of the board.

I think Liam's talking more about if we took on one of the preset "fancy" board themes that use a lot of flashy borders, but a plain background and banner.
We'd likely ask Shamino to make an extended version of the current banner and find a cityscape that could be touched up in the Photoshop, such as what was done on 552 and Mugen Hall's banner, and then keep with the black, blue and white theme color, since that's our style.
I know that the other boards are all blue now (Mugen's likely gonna be soon), but if we change the style, that'd mess with the board's "facial identity," and thus its integrity.

I'm on 552, and I've gotta say that I love what they've done with the look of the place. Honestly, it makes the site feel less user-friendly though, which is the main reason why my activity on that board is so sparse. I enjoy the lack of superfluous stuff that this board has. Hircine High: No BS, just RP.[/u] Just the way it should be.

The blue obsession of most XIN boards were originally meant to counter 552's red theme. Here are my thoughts towards the skins... Just the skins.
Mugen's Skin: -- Looks like it got graffiti bombed; the bad kind (1st skin) -- Only the header changed, from what I can see, and it contrasts too much with the blah-brick-wall background (latest skin) -- Name colors still keep the graffiti bombed look
259's Latest Skin: -- It took me a while to get used to the encompassing blue -- Once I was used to it, every time I look away, the "real world" is green
552's Current Skin: -- I'm disappointed in the creator's diminishing PhotoShopping abilities and how he applied them; who the hell thought that throwing a blob of dark onto the renders would be "artistic"? -- Some of the features are just bells and whistles that take up time to load; feels too "carried away"
Hallen High's Skin: -- It's alright, but it makes me think of that one TV channel that's always broken with the static -- If I stare long enough, I think I can see a zebra reading a newspaper in the background
I personally like this board's current skin. The updates are a plus for me as well, compared to other features I've noticed on the other boards. The only real way to convince me into liking another skin is to preview potential ones to me.
I'm tired.

Personally, I don't think the city scape should be changed. I like it, it's nice and welcoming, as if I was part of an actual community (oh wait ). But if you want change, why not get a different shot of said city landscape. No need for text or anything else, can't read the crap nor would you be interested in it. Other than that though, if the changes are too drastic, you'd also have to change the blue white and black theme, which is surprisingly easy on the eyes. So I personaly wouldn't change too much, but maybe a different angle or a change of 'scenery' in the actual city scape photo would be nice.

I've been browsing for simple Black and Blue themed skins, and I've found one that's simple and sticks well enough. John likes it, too. However(!), you see the black and blue fade at the top of our current skin? The one where the 'Home' 'Help' 'Search' etc buttons are? I think that would be awesome if we could apply it to the forum headers (Still looking at the front page, where the 'Forum Name' and '-Newcomers Read Here First!-' bits are, continuing down along with each and every one) are.

I got the light skin activated(reminder of Varron, xinrp 1) and enjoy it enough. Even though my characters may, I don't like to rp with a depressive dark skin. So I guess if a new 'dark' skin arrives, I probably won't use it anyway.

Personally, I love the one we have now. I like it more than the last board's.

I personally don't find it necessary, as I believe the simplicity of the skin kinda shows who we are you know? We never really had a "crazy ass" type of skin. But, I am beyond impressed with the new XIN2 skin, that I have to admit. Though I miss the XIN1 blue vs the XIN2 red, I guess it's alright...
...Unless now we get a red skin. Not only to contrast with XIN2 as we used to, but for the sake of diversity and variety for the boards. I liked Mugen's old banner to be honest... so now we gotta get a red skin to help out against the blues.

As for the gradient (Tanya) that you referred to at the top, if I'm not mistaken, it's not hard to keep that or make one of our own ourselves. But, i'll get in more detail later, if not expand the post or just post again later. Gotta work.
