Another skipped period on the school's roof. Nathan was supposed to be in second period English class reading Othello with the rest of his class. He could be spending an hour and a half trying to read a book with a sect of English so old that it needed a mini-dictionary below each page. However, Nathan chose to skip the fun for something that he considered more meaningful, looking at the city from the roof of his school and remembering old times when he would do the same. There was a major difference between now and then. Now he saw nothing except for endless masses of concrete and metal, but a few years ago he would see a seemingly never-ending stretch of beautiful rolling hills and autumn leaves. He would smell the dieing odor of fertilizer and flowers as winter came and the farmer stop using their land for profit until the next season. Even in the newly come Spring of San Francisco, all he could smell was car exhaust and rain evaporating away from the dirty cement. Nathan let out a reminiscent sigh of what was and what has become. He looked at the city with a generalized eye that seemed to look past even the horizon to where he used to live and who he used to know.
Nathan then snapped out of his trance and looked around him. Now he saw the guard rails and a swinging door that lead into the school. He so wanted someone to come through the darkness that was the stairway that lead to what was both his heaven and his hell. It lead to the place that he relished in all his awkward loudness and shunned it as well. He faced it and waited. Chewing his Orbit gum with its self-proclaimed "Just brushed clean feeling" and looked into expecting someone to walk up it at any minute. Anything to save his from this quiet abyss that he was currently in. He wanted to speak out loud. He was tired of being quiet. He had remained so for nearly an hour and quickly grew impatient. Nathan didn't care if it was a pillar, a teacher, a fellow student that skipped just as he had, or the principal himself. Nathan just wanted to open his mouth and become his loud and obnoxious self once more. With his impartial and bored face, he stared straight at the door. And he began to hear what he thought was footsteps echoing up the stairway, leading right to the roof.

"Second period is... French II." a lone man mumbled under his breath. His right hand brushed through his hair, his palm being plastered against his forehead as he shook his head from side to side,
"Screw that." he added with a light shurg of his shoulders. French II was boring and typically not a great place to learn French despite the fact it was a class specifically for it. The man slowly slid his hands into the pockets of his black cargo pants, his dark orange eyes looking around the floor he was currently on, the first one, wondering where he should spend his time at the moment... until he saw the staircase that was,
'Roof.' he thought as he stretched himself backwards, yawning loudly as he slowly walked toward the stairs. His feet would shuffle up the stairs, keeping an even pace until a few moments and he was facing the door that lead to the roof top,
"Now or never I suppose." he mumbled as he opened the door, tredding lightly past it with his eyes closed. The second he opened them though, he was greeted by the sight of a blond, spiky haired man who looked as if he had been waiting for someone to come up to the roof the entire time. Instantly, Dante stumbled back a bit, blinking awkwardly for a short moment before smiling lightly,
"I didn't think anybody else be up here," he started as he extended his right hand forward, "Name's Dante, yourself?" he asked, being slightly polite for once rather than being sarcastic... he'd be a sarcastic prick later after getting to know the kid's name.
OOC: Sorry for shortness, in a rush since Church >.<!

*Bonk*
Bane's head snapped up from his desk to see the rest of the class staring at him, a couple of them not bothering to disguise their laugher at his expense. He'd been known to doze off at his old schools from time to time, but he had sually been a little more quiet and graceful about his naps. Now he seemed to have accumulated an audience. He absentimndedly rubbed the spot where his forehead had hit the desk and smiled appologetically to the students around him.
~Great... It's not bad enough that I don't know any of these people. Doubtless the teacher is bound to get on my case any sec-~
A paper airplane whizzed in front of his face. He blinked some sleep out of his eyes and looked around a second time. There was no teacher. For that matter, most of the students in the room weren't even IN this class, and a few of them even seemed to be playing cards in the back of the room.
~This school is going to hell.~
He grabbed his messenger-bag style backpack and walked quickly toward the door.
~If I'm going to fall asleep, I can at least find a more private place to do it.~
Bane skipped absentmindedly down the hall, the rhythmic sounds of djembes and berimbaus echoing in his head as his bare feet slapped lightly against the tiled floor. His light brown hair swayed from side to side across his forehead as he switched up his step to one similar to a moving jenga from his capoeira footwork, skipping sort of in a jig-zag pattern as he went. He was just pondering where he might spend his would-be free period when he was jarred from his trance by the sound of a closing door. Looking over to see where the noise had come from, his blue eyes settled on the door that led to the roof-access staircase, and he grinned.
~Apparently, I'm not the only one taking a holiday from classes. Well, anyone who can't stand classes here can't be all bad. I think I may have found a new person to introduce myself to.~
He pulled on the handle and slipped through the door, took the steps two at a time, and ended up running headlong into the person he had followed. Had he been sligtly more groggy he may have rebounded off backwards and painfully revisited the steps on his way back down to the hallway. Fortunately, he was still awake enough to react, rolling slightly to the side and falling past the orange-eyed student, landing on his backside. Bane smiled up at him from the ground.
"Wanna watch where you're standing there? Other people are trying to skip class too, ya know."
As soon as he'd spoken though, he noticed the second person who he'd barged in on.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm not interrupting anything, am I?"
Knowing the school's reputation, he may very well have barged in on a fight that was about to commence, but judging from the fact that the person he'd collided with had been extending his hand to the other, he doubted this was the case.
~I need to work on my short attention span. I might've royally screwed myself over by walking in on something around here. These guys don't exactly look like thugs though.~
He was about to introduce himself, but thought that this might be rude to do before the others had indicated whether Bane was welcome or not.

Nathan's ears were once again correct. The steps slowly became louder and louder, until he saw the person who had been walking up he stairs. It was a fellow student that seemed to be roughly two inches taller than Nathan, possibly around the same strength, with spiked brown hair. The moment he saw Nathan he stumbled back, obviously not expecting to see someone else on the roof. He quickly regained his calm however and explained himself.
"I didn't think anyone else would be up here." The student said as he motioned toward Nathan. "Name's Dante, yourself?" he said as he held his hand out to Nathan.
Nathan warmly welcomed Dante with a firm handshake, looked him straight in the eyes and introduced himself.
"Nice to meet you Dante, name's Nathan Branigan." he said showing full confidence in himself as he said so. It was the classic introduction that one's father would try to teach their son and Nathan had carefully paid attention to his father's teachings.
"So Dante, what brings you up here?" Nathan said curiously.
He wouldn't get an immediate answer however, because at that moment a second student ran up the stairs and crashed right into Dante, knocking them both on the floor. As the student looked around, he saw Dante and said something that could be seen as slightly hypocritical due to his own carelessness.
"Wanna watch where you're standing there? Other people are trying to skip class too, ya know." The student blurted out without an apology. As soon as he said this though he took notice of Nathan."Oh, I'm sorry. I'm not interrupting anything, am I?".
Nathan only laughed, finding the sudden change of his environment quite enjoyable. "No problem, but you really should he apologizing to him." He said pointing to Dante. "After all, it was your carelessness that made him fall in the first place."
Nathan the walked over to him and stuck out his hand to help him up. "Name's Nathan by the way, Nathan Branigan."
~Finally some people to talk to.~ Nathan thought to himself joyfully.
OOC: Sorry for the wait guys. You know how midterm exams can be sometimes.

As Dante had listened to Nathan, having the intention to answer his question a bit sarcastically, his body would suddenly fall forward and toward the ground face first. Though as a natural reaction, Dante's hands went in front of him to break his fall, scartching them up a bit as he landed rather roughly on the cement,
"Wanna watch where you're standing there? Other people are trying to skip class too, ya know." the student that had just knocked him down blurted out quickly, an irritated glare being shot at no one at the moment,
'Watch where I'm standing? Why don't you watch where the feck you're going?' he thought as he rubbed his temples with his right index finger and thumb to calm himself before he went off on the guy,
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm not interrupting anything, am I?" the man soon added, Dante shaking his head as he sighed lightly,
"No problem, but you really should he apologizing to him. After all, it was your carelessness that made him fall in the first place." were the words that would escape Nathan's mouth as he stepped forward and held his hand out to help Dante up. Dante smirked lightly as he accepeted, grabbing firmly as he pulled himself up and stood with confidence. Regardless, Dante turned to Nathan, his smirk still present on his face as he slipped his hands in his pockets and took a seat on a nearby air conditioner,
"Just wanted to get some air before I go back to class because you know how fun school is." he stated sarcastically as his dark orange eyes traveled over to the stranger. He quickly gave the boy a once over, taking in some quick details about his body language and of course his physical attributes and whatever else could be seen with a mere once over,
"Oh and thanks for crashing into me I appreciate, really I do." he teased with his typical sarcastic tone, a grin replacing his smirk as he laid back and placed his hands behind his head cupped. His eyes would go up to the sky, watching the clouds with a foxy grin as he waited for one of the two to start a bit of a conversation,
'I sure as hell ain't.'

~Good. They both seem to have a sense of humor.~
Bane pushed himself to his feet and brushed his backside off stiffly.
"Yes, yes, I know I'm the one who needs to appologise. However, I find life is a bit more colorful when painted with sacasm, which my collision buddy here-"
He nodded toward Dante-
"-would seem to agree with me on. You're welcome, by the way. Lemme know if you need me to knock you down again later."
Bane winked and gave a small chuckle, but then bowed his head slightly, indicating that he really was appologetic for his carelessness.
"Well, now that I seem to be done making an arse of myself, I suppose it's only fair I give my name. I'm Bane Falcone."
He turned his gaze to the blonde boy who had introduced himself a moment ago.
"It's nice to meet you, Nathan."
His eyes fell back onto the boy he'd knocked over.
"I don't think I caught your name, though to be fair, I can't exactly say I've earned myself a polite introduction."
It was refreshing to learn that there were at least a few people around who were polite, and at least one other who shared his love of the forgotten art of sarcasm.
~It's a little like being on the beach back home again.~
