(OOC: The antagonist of this thread is Alkaiser, but the thread is relatively open. When I say relatively I mean only come here if you have a purpose. Its a public place so I don't want to close it off, but please, don't spam this up.)
IC:
"Come on, come on..."
It was lunch break, and everyone has to eat sometime. The Varron transfers would likely not know where else to go in the building for lunch, and would likely head over to the cafeteria. This is where Tiao Lei Shen, the first Pillar of the School Captain expected to find the one who claimed to be former Freshman Captain of Varron Academy.
Tiao sighed as he brought his arms up to his chest, growing impatient waiting for this guy. He leaned back against the wall, beginning to scan the crowd with his gaze.
"A freshman with wild red hair. Shouldn't be too hard now should it?"
Tiao of course wasn't looking to start a fight, at least not at first. His first and foremost priority would be to converse with him and from there perceive him as one of three things. One, the former Freshman Captain making him a threat. Two, someone who just uses the title to get others to leave him alone whether its true or not, or three, someone who really wasn't the Freshman Captain, and uses the title for another purpose, knowing that using a dead title from a chaotic school would both instigate and give avoidance to trouble. The third choice was the most dangerous. It meant he was smart.
Tiao continued to scan the crowd, keeping at least part of his gaze on the entrance the whole time, making him able to spot this "Captain" as soon as he arrived.

A high school cafeteria is a place for friends and food, but often can play a larger role. Many a hero and many a fool have been made on such a stage. To a high school's social hierarchy, the lunch room can provide the greatest margins of separation between the elite and the rest of the masses.
Knowing this, a confident Alkaiser strolls in alone, wearing his dark sunglasses. They were his "mean face," and they made sure nobody else could figure out what he was thinking, malicious or otherwise. He scans the room, looking for a place to sit as he has done quite a few times before at other schools.
"Hircinians, Varronites, or empty?" There Barzahd stood, thinking of how sitting with each group would affect his own status. Varronites and Hircinians definitely don't mix in here, but people might become suspicious of him if he sat with the other transfers as well. Just as he decided that he would set himself aside from the rest of the crowd, however, Steve is interrupted by the eerie feeling of an approaching presence. He begins to look left and right, wondering if it's more than just a hunch.

Bingo.
"Steve Barzahd," Tiao stated plainly, loud enough for the student to hear as he pushed off the wall and made his way towards him. He was relatively big for a freshman, but then again Tiao was also of smaller stature compared to others his age.
Approaching his front, Tiao would halt a few feet before Alkaiser and place his hand on his chin, sizing up the new transfer student. "I know alot about you, but its hard to distinguish fact from fiction." Tiao would purposely pause, allowing any possible surprise from Alkaiser to die down so he could have his attention.
"I've heard you are the former Freshman Captain at Varron Academy. Its a bold statement...is it true?"

"That's me." Steve coolly replied without missing a beat. He was right...now he just had to figure out who it was that was watching him. A new face made his way towards Steve, coming to stand in front of him.
"I know a lot about you, but its hard to distinguish fact from fiction." The boy approached, all business. Whatever his purpose, he was going to be sure to accomplish it. Steve jokingly thinks "Yes, it's all true. I hold the record for most wads of gum stuck to the bottom of a school desk."
The student pauses for a moment, followed by the hard-hitting question he had come here to ask. Was Alkaiser really a former captain? The part called for a liar, and although he didn't like to diminish the value of his word, there was only one response that Steve could give. "Absolutely." Steve grinned, thinking of the advantage his shades gave him while lying.
"Sadly, I can't say I've heard of you." Steve began to take off the sunglasses and tuck them away in his pocket. The action was meant to feign sincerity for his previous lie. He continued to move the conversation forward. "So who might you be?" By now a few students nearest to the conversation had perked up their ears, hearing of the "ex-captain" and one of their trusted pillars meeting for the first time.

"Tiao Lei Shen, the first pillar of the captain." Tiao said plainly, arms held accross his chest when most others would extend their hand for a shake. Tiao said nothing more for a moment, his gaze narrowing in on Alkaiser now that he had been given an answer.
So he refuses to distinguish the rumor as false. Thats bad for him. Whether its true or not, it now means he's a threat, a possible rallying figure for the rest of the Varronites.
"If you still haven't heard of me you'd be better off to watch carefully. You could get hurt in this place, especially if you carry around a target such as that title. Maybe next time you'll do you homework, yeah?" Tiao grinned, taking a few verbal shots at Alkaiser under the radar.
Tiao took a step out with his right leg, widening his stance. Not only did this make him more comfortable, but it prepared him for a sudden from Alkaiser. If Odin took a shot at him, it wasn't a far stretch to be weary of the Freshman Captain.

Steve became intrigued as the man before him identified himself as the first pillar to Darren Blayne. Steve began to grin, knowing that he had finally started to attract the attention he wanted. This Tiao character had just made his day. He waited and listened to the man a little longer, whether it be out of common courtesy or respect for his accomplishments. The boy poked fun at Steve for never hearing of him, and Alkaiser quickly followed suit with a few quips of his own.
"I would do my homework, but I find the subject to be far too simple." He gave a toothy grin at his own response. "Honestly though, I appreciate the warning. Should you guys fail to keep the peace, I'll remember to take care of it myself." Alkaiser's remarks were not quite as far under the radar, but he said nothing that was truly disrespectful. He just wanted to keep the score even for this first encounter.
So tell me Tiao, what can I do for you?
Steve notices Tiao change his footing, an act that puts him slightly on edge. Either Tiao expected him to attack, or Tiao was planning to himself. Alkaiser did not plan on making anything out of this, so he did not prepare himself for an attack, but still stood weary of one.

Tiao smirked at Alkaiser's comeback. It was rather clever, and Tiao would give him credit for that one. Plus, it wasn't overly insulting so there was no reason to become upset. However, as Alkaiser added the second part, Tiao's demeanor would noticeably change for a moment, a scowl coming to his face.
"We don't fail. We just don't. Darren, Kurtz and myself have made this school what it is. We regained control of our students, and I trust that you Varronites will break the same way." Tiao chewed off harshly, before a grin came back to his face.
"Plus, we all know how well you faired at keeping the peace in New York. We leave things in your hands and our school will probably end up burning down." Tiao half joked, knowing that Stever Barzahd had nothing to do with the Edge. But a Varronite was a Varronite, and Tiao had to come out on top over Alkaiser one way or another.
You had to keep face with the populace, that he learned from Kurtz. Popularity was a great weapon in the history of all highschools, but never as true as now.

Good to hear. More flower power to ya.
The true Steve Barzahd enjoyed hearing Tiao stick to his convictions and emphasize his confidence in their ability to quell the threat of a Varron/Hircine war. The conversation seemed to be getting a little competitive though, so once again he evened things up. After all, Hircinians are Hircinians. He also enjoyed the back and forth nature of this conversation, as the jokes the two were striking at each other were just biting enough to make it interesting, yet just tame enough to keep it civilized.
"Now, if there's nothing more you need from me, I'd like to eat my lunch." Steve innocently held up his brown paper bag. It had a smiley face drawn on it in Blue Permanant marker. Steve mirrored the face on his own in an odd sort of way. The conversation was beginning to be more about the two schools than the two students, so he figured there wasn't much left to it. Alkaiser also wanted to know once and for all if there was any purpose to Tiao's approach besides making a first impression.

"Be my guest." Tiao said surprisingly in a friendly tone. "I just wanted to meet the Freshman Captain myself. I'll be honest with you...you could be a threat so you better be careful. I wouldn't say I like you, but hey, I don't like very many people. However, I don't dislike you so I'll give you that warning. Play nice with the other boys and girls like highschool is supposed to be and we'll be cool. Thats all."
Tiao Lei Shen would give Alkaiser a small nod before brushing past him, making his way to the courtyard.
Alkaiser could go either way, I'll have to keep an eye on him. But I don't see a reason to alert the others yet...
Tiao turned the corner and made his way down the hallway. There was nothing left to say to Alkaiser, or anyone else at the moment. But most importantly...Tiao was hungry too.

"Sure thing, Mr. Tiao Lei Shen." Steve reminded himself of the pillar's name, one that he did not want to forget. The two exchanged nods as he made his way around Steve's shoulder. "Good luck figuring out who's side I'm on." he thinks to himself as he makes his way towards a Hircinian table. He sits down to a group full of confused students.
"What are you lookin' at?" Steve inquires to one of the boys giving him a funny look. The boy continues, much to the annoyance of Barzahd. In response, Alkaiser swipes an apple from the boy's tray and tosses it over his shoulder, which the boy quickly gets up and chases after. The rest of the students follow, groaning, and now Steve has made himself a table all his own. Steve begins to comment himself.
Play nice? It's harder than it sounds.
He eats his very yummy lunch in peace.
