Click Clack.
An assortment of multi-colored bricks sprawled across the table out of a small black bag. The owner of the bag, who appeared no older than sixteen, which in reality, was eighteen, set the bag on the floor and swept the Lego's into a small pile in front of him. Next to the pile was his lunch, consisting of noodles and a cup of tea. I thought Lunch'd never come... Kai thought, as he set himself down into his sitting position, which was actually crouching down on the chair.
Most people looked at him and murmured, but none approached him. Not yet, at least. He sighed, and by his fingertips, picked up the small pieces of plastic and began building, snapping them into place. Every now and then, he'd pause and slurp some of his noodles. A small itch was felt on his leg, and he casually used his bare foot to rub it, making a small scritch noise.
The murmurs grew louder. Look at that guy. is he special ed or something?[/i] Kai ignored the comments, having gotten used to them from his time in the orphanage. What is he, eight? Still playing with Lego's[/i] He sighed, and was about to snap the last piece of his tower-like structure in place when someone flicked it over, causing it to explode into many colorful pieces. Kai's eyes widened, and he paused in mid-motion, moving his pupils in the direction of the perpetrator.
Punk, Kai thought, but not saying it aloud. He dropped the piece he was holding onto the lunch table, and sighed.
"Can I help you...?"

*BOOM* the sound of Lego's hitting the floor and exploding about made everyone in the lunch room stop. Junpei himself was only one table over from where the tower like structure collapsed. He actually got hit in the legs by a couple of bricks. The kid whom he now saw sitting rather oddly seemed to be the builder, while a rather scrawny looking kid was the destroyer. Already it seemed like the place would go up in a fiery explosion if the punk got his way, idiots.
Sliding out of his seat Junpei slid around in front of Kai's table and put both hands on it, brushing away a stray Lego in the process. The punk kid took no notice and answered Kai.
"Look guys the special ed can talk!"
A roar of laughter went up a table away and Junpei glanced that way, four, five, six others. Three female, three male, and this one male. Hmm so four on one, sounded unfair, but Junpei figured the kid across form him was probably a genius, not mentally handicapped. A small smirk formed on his face and he slid around the table putting a shoulder on the punk kids shoulder.
"Problem here?"
Junpei said at his full 5'11" stance. The kid was probably 5'7" at best, and looked up to Junpei and gulped a bit. Junpei wasn't the most muscular guy around, but he knew he was tall enough to impose some kind of intimidating. The average height around here seemed to be about 5'9", give or take, and Junpei was almost in the top range. However people like BK, Ein, and a few others topped out over 6 foot and made it almost impossible not to spot them in a room.
"N-no. no problem at all..."
The kid scurried off and the normal hustle and bustle of the room returned. Junpei sighed audibly and slouched a bit, dropping him to 5'9" now. He cracked his neck and looked down at Kai.
"Need any help?"

Kai turned in the direction of the kid who'd helped him out. Friend or foe? He thought, and quickly assessed him. Takes the initiative, seems to be the nice guy. Rather tall, but not so muscular. He paused, and added another mental note. Judging from his confidence, I'd also say he's a good fighter, although it isn't so hard to find arrogant slackers. He nibbled on the tip of his thumb for a second, before answering.
"Yes, it would be appreciated," he said slowly. reaching down beneath the table and sweeping up a few pieces. Never thought I'd make an acquaintance on my first day. He stayed with his head below the table for a moment, wondering, and scanning for anymore pieces. These kids? Garbage. He breathed out, and came back out.
He made eye contact with the kid, and a trace of a smile creeped onto his face, but it quickly dissipated. Introductions now, I suppose.
"This is the first time we meet. I'm Kenji," he said, remembering to use his alias.

Junpei kneel-ed and swept up a few pieces here and there, grabbed a few a little ways away, and even collected a few off the floor at his table. Soon all his collected pieces were back on the table and he sat down across from Kai again. He crossed his arms on the table in front of him and leaned forward slightly, not really relaxed but not uptight either. He return Kai's smile and memorized the name to the face.
"Pleasure, name's Junpei."
Junpei didn't think the kid was one much for handshakes, else he probably would have extended his hand for one. No for now they were just talking as two strangers who just met, not as schoolmates, not as friends, just as strangers. Junpei eased up a little and let his fingers face, comfortable position now.
"SO I'm guessing you're new here as well?"
He said figuring no Hirician would really, now of all times, 'attack' another. Although, with as new as everyone was with each other, it may well come to Hircinians trying to pull Varronites into a fight, cause that was the fastest way to remove them now. Varronites were labeled as fighters and killers, Hircians pure and innocent. Junpei hated the generalization, but what really ticked him off, was Varronites who were willingly accepting the bait.

Kai nodded and returned to his odd seating position, now taking apart the broken tower. "Yeah. Today's my first day," he said, and began clicking pieces together again. Junpei, huh? He pictured a house in his mind, and the instructions needed to construct it. His hands, working nimbly, and carefully, slowly pieced his thought together. As he did this, he thought, trying to piece together more about the kid.
"I'm assuming you're a transfer from Varron?" he asked, looking up a moment to see his reaction. He has to be. Would a Hircine student be afraid of another Hircine student? No, more than likely, they'd embrace each other. This is San Francisco after all. He clicked a long piece in, and seearched for a four-dot piece in the pile. Unless... this guy works for the school? Unlikely. Knowing the school's reaction to these 'Varronites,' he'd probably join in with them, or multiply the crap the kid was giving me. The gears clicked into place in Kai's mind. Varronite. Now, he seems nice, but I hear these Varron kids are crazy. Mentally unstable. Junpei seems nice, but I should be careful anyway.

"Yeah..."
Junpei's own mind tried to follow Kenji's, his mind wasn't near as skilled though, and each click began to reveal more, although not into Kenji's mind. Junpei was already well aware Kenji was probably on the 'genius' scale, his mind constantly abuzz with ideas and concepts. Kenji probably wasn't a fighter, at least from the way he acted, and he didn't seem that muscular either.
"Interesting... where are you from? I mean, I assume you're not from Hircine..."
He said as he examined the house in progress. Very interesting indeed. This kid was apparently brainy as hell, which meant he probably wasn't to bad if he was at least talking to Junpei. Didn't come off as arrogant or stuck up, seemed to be analyze everything, similar in a way to Junpei. The two were total opposites and exactly the same. He wondered what Kenji would think about being friends, Junpei needed a few, now that all of them were either back in Varron or had yet to show themselves to him.
Junpei sat back awaiting Kenji's answer, he needed something to do. He was done with lunch, still had a fifteen minute wait to get out of here, he was bored as hell. Mind you his mind was busy processing every move and word Kenji said, but his body was bored, something Junpei was getting used to sadly.

Where am I from?
"New York," he said, clicking a window into place. He seems smart as well. He's already deduced I'm not from Hircine, nor San Francisco, but frankly, from the students' behavior, that wasn't so hard to figure out. He ruffled through the pile again, searching for a Door. He was suddenly aware of the smell of noodles, and he looked at his bowl, which was empty. Oh yeah, I finished it. He took it by his fingertips, and casually chucked it over his shoulder. Coincidentally, there was a garbage can behind him - Kai had seen it when he came in, and remembered. I hope the tea isn't so hot. He reached across the table for his cup of tea. He looked down at its murky contents and took a sip. Refreshing.
His mind wandered back to the boy - no, man sitting before him. He looked at Junpei's crossed arms, loosened, but very much a barrier. He doesn't trust me completely, but it's loosened, so I'd say he's aiming for friendship. He clicked another piece into place.
I suppose I am, too..... he thought, almost frowning. He looked up at him again. Senior, or a very tall Junior. One question will answer this. "What's your next class?" he asked, observing how Junpei seemed to be watching the time, keen to get out of here. "I mean, you seem to be eager to leave," he added.

"Not from Varron are you?"
He said jokingly and then continued to watch, arms still crossed. He wondered to about how Kenji felt about this situation, how he was taking it all in. He seemed to be relaxed, although with that odd stance Junpei couldn't be to sure, he could just as easily be ready to spring and attack, clearing the table in a single move and landing squarely on Junpei.
"Physics 2, yours?"
Junpei said replying to Kenji's rather sudden question. The two were getting on easier ground at least, and with that initial threat of attack gone Junpei slipped his arms behind his head and re-laced them there. His body slid a bit down in the chair and he got more comfortable, idly tapping his thumb against the back of his skull.
In his mind he was at rest finally, stopping to breath in a sense. His thumb tapping the back of his skull kept him busy physically and he was content do a degree now. His eyes followed Kenji's hands as they worked and he started to finally see the finished house in his mind, seemed Kenji was one who liked to keep his mind busy, Junpei already figured a gift of sorts for the analyst sitting across form him.

Now he knows I'm a Senior, but I know the same about him....
"....Same," he replied, a bit surprised at the coincidence. Kai watched as he relaxed his stance, slipping into an almost lazy position. He's eager to make friends, I guess. He clicked a few more pieces into place. I'm not so sure I'm thrilled with the idea..... but it shouldn't, no - doesn't hurt to try.
He took a look at his tea, and reached for it, taking another few sips. I wonder if all Varronites are like Junpei. Unlikely, from the rumors at least. There's always bound to be a few who are nice. He snapped the last piece, the roof tile, into place, and set it down onto the table with a soft clunk.
If he's a Senior, I'm guessing he's got a driver's license. If he likes cars, that's a good place to start forging a friendship.
"Do you drive?" he asked suddenly, remembering his own gunmetal S2000 in the parking lot. He seems like the Muscle type of guy.

Same class.. for a Junior and a Senior.. OK that was odd. Junpei was technically supposed to be a senior this year, but with the transfer he was dropped back to Junior, however with a Physics 1 under his belt he qualified for Physics 2 and jumped on it.
Kenji sipped some tea, Junpei relaxed back bit more, if he was going to attack or make any sort of hostile action it would have come long ago, Junpei was comfortable to now. He watched Kenji and perked up at the mention of cars. He had had a bike back in Varron,a solid black racer, kinda. It was very nice, and had cost a bit of money, Junpei had been way to lavish in the past and now it cost him, lesson learned you might say.
"Yes, but I don't have a car or anything currently, just got here four days ago... you?"
He wondered what a person like Kenji would drive. Something sporty? Maybe... but not likely. Muscle? NO way.. he seemed more the 'I wanna work on this car' kind of guy. Well maybe an import or something more... flashy... either way it didn't matter, Junpei had no car. However... his mind was wrapping around the idea of maybe getting to know the personal side of Kenji a bit more.

"S2000," Kai said, and if Junpei was the car type of guy, he'd know what car he was talking about.
Kenji wondered what Junpei's reaction would be. Well, he did perk up at the mention of cars, but he didn't own one... as far as Kai knew. The S2K.... He doesn't have to know how I got it, or about my past.... He drained the last of the tea, leaves and all, and set it down. One more minute 'till the bell, he mused, and began disassembling the Legos, putting them back into the bag.
"Time for class, I suppose," Kai said softly, more to himself than Junpei, and slowly got up.

Nice car. Was the first thing that came to mind for Junpei. Not cheap quickly followed and had Junpei wandering what exactly this kid did to earn that kind of cash.
Maybe he's just from a very rich family...
Either way Junpei wondered exactly how much this Kenji kid had, maybe he was the heir of some ancient family fortune, or maybe he was just an incredibly lucky kid, either way Junpei figured he probably had enough money to live comfortably for a long time.
Kenji began to pick up the Lego's and put them back in there bag, Junpei noted the clock and sat up more, grabbing his bag from the table behind them he slipped it over one shoulder and checked it's contents. Laptop, sketch pad, books, all there. He closed the bag back up just as the bell rang and he stood.
"Nice talkin to ya Kenji, see ya soon I guess."
With that Junpei nodded once and headed for the exit. Time for Physics 2.
