Fighting Style: Serenity. This is a self-invented style that has several branches, each of which has it’s own qualities, but, having the same concept throughout.
Since this branch isn’t really a style, he hasn’t a name for it. But, for people who see him fight this way, he heard them saying names; thus, giving a sort of name for this ‘style’. He heard someone call him an idiot, and so, he thinks the name Idiocy suits this ‘style’ the best. Due to Kei’s extreme laziness, he often doesn’t use any style, at all. He just fights as he sees fit during his procrastination. All he does, is stand with his hands to his sides, and waits to see what the opponent does first.
Now. This is the root of all the styles that he has established. This being the head and the origin, it’s name is Serenity. The principle that was specifically tailored for this, is ultimately the same as Flow (the paragraph under this one). This is the style that Kei started out with, and eventually organized his style into different fighting formations and natures. However, this one, has changed. This is based on having a good offense, while also having a good defense, that in which suits his comfort and versatility. He focused on two martial art styles for this one; Tae Kwon Do, and Chin-nan. TKD places great emphasis on fast, spectacular kicking techniques with very few hand strikes, which is of course something he desires. Even when he was a kid, his legs were always his strongest limbs. For the Chin-nan. He wanted something that compensates for the lack of using arms, and he came across this. “Its a technique system used in several Kung Fu styles, which revolves around hand grips that goes against the body’s own design.” His stance for this is as described: Keisuke spreads his feet shoulder length. But, he keeps his right foot behind, and, he keeps his left in front, to lead. He keeps both legs bent to extremely miniscule extent, for balance and safety reasons. For his right arm, he tucks it in toward his stomach, keeping it in that area. His left arm, he keep into a sort of hook, with his fist pointing toward the right. (Heh.. just look at this ‘image’ to see what I mean about his left arm. i21.photobucket.com/albums/b288/Dark_Sanction/Meh.jpg)
The name for this style, is called Flow. The basic style is to be like water; swift and powerful when necessary; which is why he is always calm in battle, to have an idea of the persons attack and using it against him/her. This style was inspired by his older brother, Leon, who is mentioned in the History, because he majored in Tai Chi and Aikido. In all essence, Flow was supposed to be a conceptual rip of Aikido, while also inheriting the basis of complete sanctity of Tai Chi. With manipulating these styles’ excerpts, he comes across countering with grace and easiness, moving and accessing flexibility easily. Overall, Flow's non-violent self-defense style emphasizes minimum effort for maximum effect; a strategy uniquely effective against the fast punches and kicks of modern unarmed combat. Clear logical instruction by a fully capable user of Flow (and basically Serenity), leads spectators, and his opponents, to understand how to harmlessly render any attacker helpless to continue his or her aggression, regardless of relative size, speed, or strength. There is no specific stance for this, but, his most comfortable stance for this style, is keeping his hands to his sides, and leaving himself standing there. When times are serious, his stance is as described: Left leg is mostly spread out to the left, and his right is bent a little. His left arm is extended lowly toward his left, open palm, and his right is positioned highly to his right, open palm. This concludes the portion of his defensive nature.
If it hasn’t been noticed yet, Serenity is something that’s general, meaning that it has categories. With the defense covered, here is the offense.
A new style, he has learned from his master during his month off from Varron, and the country in general: Coup de Grace. Keisuke learned the style's stance to more of an extent than before. He's more exceptional, but not perfect. The main idea that he was taught, was too adapt and go straight for victory. It's for the user to be smart and wise; to cover all aspects of a fight and expect all possibilities. It is supposed to be a style that would be used as a last resort. With the concept being already discovered, a basic stance was uncovered recently, when Kei was reading over some manuscripts left behind from his former master. His arms are placed in an arm favoring position, but in an offensive and defensive way at the same time. His left hand protrudes more than his right. Meaning, his left arm’s elbow is bent a little, and leaving it extended as so- his right arm, he keeps back at regular shoulder level; with his elbow being cocked all the way. Everytime he jabs and punches, he exhaled lightly, giving himself rhythm. The upper body stance is mainly a facade, but it helps him greatly. His left leg leads, while his right leg is behind. Since he's lightly bouncing, it gives him a step further in moving his legs for a kick, at a much faster rate. Thus giving him more opportunities for a continuous string of attacks. So, in lamens terms, this particular stance is solely based on being a twisted formation of Jeet Kune Do, well, the basic level’s stance of this style anyways (Meaning, that there are more levels of mastery toward Coup de Grace, this stance being the most basic). Kei’s master even explained how branch this style to Serenity, teaching him how to apply his mind and his eyesight to good use (In the manuscript), so he can use Serenity’s countering measures in his offensive style. So, Speed is just a key factor to land amazing counters with extreme precision, as well as landing effective yet careful blows. Besides the concepts listed above, Kei wants an intercepting, strong hand lead, and progressive indirect attacks to apply.
(Notice: I had this a month after I started Role-Playing (In general), so, forgive the grammatically incorrect paragraphs and things that don’t even make sense in general =P)
History/Biography: Keisuke Varial had two sides to his childhood, the Jovial and the Melancholy. When Kei was still a child, he used to go outside everyday, playing sports and excelling in them all. From a wide range of sports, stretching from Hockey to Lacrosse. Though, his main sport which earned him the title of "The Prodigy" was soccer. Since he was 3, he played, and was expected to go for pro when he was old enough.
The other side, was Kei being abused by his brother, he used to live with his brother and parents but his brother has always been giving him orders and hitting Kei ever since he learned how to walk. Kei always went berserk when he was a kid, but then learned to calm down when he grew older. Every time he disobeyed his brother, his bro would assault him dangerously. Kei also went through hell by not just his brother, but by everyone as well. When Kei was younger he was a genius, handsome, and excellent in soccer and sports in general. But, he was in series of accidents when trying to become better in sports, the main one.. finally hit him hard enough that his intellect altered and lessened. Thus, teachers, and his family members that are mostly adults, criticized him, calling him a failure, especially his own mother. Then Kei came to a 'philosophy' of life, hating everyone. Completely hating everyone. Especially his mother and brother. His father was an ass and had 2 other families to take care of. Kei was most defensive and ill tempered for this period of his life. Ever since that moment until he was 12, he was like that. His mom used to say in Spanish, calling him a retard and Kei used to answer back, "Yea I got it from you, now get the f*** out of my room" Kei was really pissed, And when his mom used to call him a failure, living in the streets he used to tell her "Yea your right, I'm gonna end up dead in a dumpster one day, watch" and other times he used to say "watch, I'm gonna kill myself leaving a suicide note saying its your fault" Kei said those things to make her feel bad because he learned that they didn't care about him anymore; they only cared about his 'perfection'. Kei then changed over the course of the year, his friends changed him. Kei didn't go to counseling or nothing, he changed himself and then began studying so he can get smart. He never studied before since it was natural for him, but now it was different. Kei found love, but that ended bad, and learned that happiness doesn't come with consequences. He always has those scars with him. From then on, he used to put on a facade in school; acting like a clown, and ultimately being the funniest kid, do stupid things, being recognized as a former 'genius' and a comedian, and a soccer player. When Kei's intellect altered, he wanted to play soccer. That's all he did when he became 'less-smart'. But that facade was because, he thought that if kids saw him sad, they will be too and vice-versa. Kei had earned al the students respect, thus leaving the principal to try and break him down, so they can be afraid, but Kei didn't fall, or cower, Kei knew the system and knew that he didn't do anything wrong, so nothing really happened to Kei.
Then, came Kei's life changing day, his first REAL kiss, not a regular kiss but his first real one, because his feelings were in it. Kei was only 12 years old, with the girl being 14. But Kei being shy, is what led him to avoid the girl for the entire summer after that day. About 6 months later, he talked to her again, pretending he didn't know what happened. Overall Kei, had a 'normal' childhood. Good and a lot of bad. But if he was given the chance, he wouldn't restart his life. He met great people and the main reason is... 18 years is gonna take too log to make up.
When Kei was growing up, he learned the hardships of change. >not physical!< The sad thing is, that Kei learned this when he was 12. His friends were all moving away from him, so he had little friends left. But 5 stayed. They were all older than him. They were one grade higher than him, and he didn't mind. He liked having friends of different ages. After that, since so many of them left except for 5...there were 6 8th graders, a new student came. Kei cried a lot before the school year started, thinking about his friends but then learned to hang out with friends his current age. One of the 5 was of a girl named Amanda. For 'some' reason, Kei went out with older girls. Kei went out with Amanda, when he was in 6th grade; but then they went out again when he was in 7th. When she graduated, along with the rest, Kei walked out during the graduation; he was sad and bored at the same time. He cried the day before with a friend of his, they were both cool with the graduates, and Kei's other friend didn't cry at all; he had no real friends that's why. After Kei and his friend, Bryan, went somewhere to talk because Bryan also was moving away, leaving Kei more disheartened since them 2 were the troublemaking friends who made school fun. They were a team, a really good one.
Then, Kei was already 13 by the time 7th grade ended, because his birth day was in FEB 25. When he turned 14 he already mastered his art, and if it wasn't for Bryan it couldn't be done. Kei was a different person, with different aspects of life, by that time knowing what the real difference of pain and happiness is. But the real thing that made Kei change is. When he killed his brother in a fight. That's why he doesn't like to fight much, he's afraid he might hurt people and because of that, Kei moved and lived on his own... he matured, and lived his life, by his terms. He learned to follow examples and ask questions. He realized when he was 7 that he would begin fighting because Jackie Chan was and is his favorite fighter. He made his own art and mastered it at 14. Trained day and night. But his personality rotates as if he has more than one being in him. Basically, everything that happened in Kei's life, affected him, very much which makes Kei act the way he does. And...Then ended up in a school called Varron...
As he left Varron during early February; he came across a realization. He sought to find a new challenge, one that can test his endurance and stamina, as well as his spirituality and understanding. He was already considered someone to be of high caliber fighters, but he wanted to find out personally if it was true or not. He had fought experienced and well balanced fighters, but the only thing he hasn't fought in a long time was himself. And so that's what he wanted to accomplish in Japan. He searched out an old man that was very close with his family, and receive his training as well as wisdom. But, like all other masters, Keisuke was tested by this master. The test included series of physical experimenting, knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. Keisuke didn't do perfect on these but well enough to gain the master's trust and admiration. First, Keisuke was trained with weapons; showing his master that in that area, he needed great improvement; and so it was done. Everyday, for a number of hours he was trained in the art of weapon manipulation- mostly staff and swords. Then, for the rest of the remaining hours of the day, began his training involving martial arts. But before any of this training started; the master tortured Keisuke, which are the tests that were listed earlier. Apart of that, was a minor inquisition of Kei's spirituality and understanding concepts. If Keisuke didn't answer a question with ENOUGH reasoning, he'd get brutalized worse. And so, after that, was when solemn and calm thinking came into play. After that, began his training.
When the month was coming to an end, Keisuke injured himself critically, only to leave him in the wake and care of his master. His master, Khameritsu Doshi (in Japanese sense, meaning that his surname >last name< is put first.) focused his Ki, as well as gathering some materials, and healed Keisuke. Of course it took some time for Kei to recuperate, but during that time he pondered hard about achieving that. But, he still hasn’t learned, and when he left, he was angry. He left Doshi-san with a bow, and left with new found talents, as well as mental and spiritual needs in life. Keisuke thought..: “I’m set.” And climbed down the enormous number of stairs that led someone to the temple. “Back to Varron it is..” Keisuke whispered as he took one last glance at the temple, and walked to the airport.
--From February until now (July of 2005), life hasn’t been anything but awkward for Keisuke G. Varial. He has had memorable moments since he returned to Varron; involving various students that made the events quite the experience. He made a pledge, swearing that he would protect the school, and assist it as much as possible. Whether it was supressing violence, or, helping students with errands or needs, he vowed to be a justified individual. He also made an effort to meet the new students that registered during his month away from Varron, and he was pretty happy with the results. He met some students who were extremely promising to him; some which were slightly older than others, and some who had different emotions, but, the diversity is what appealed to him. And the reason why, is because they were a group of four, and they each benefited from each other. Keisuke quickly noticed that one of them were brave, one was dark, one was positive, and one was courteous, as well as delivering questions that could satisfy each of their curiosities. And, other students, meant absolutely no good to the school, but, that, he was twistedly proud of. The main reason? He thought of them as people who give him, and some of his allies reason to keep doing their jobs as helpers.
Afterwards, Keisuke just started to lay low; revoking his ‘title’ and responsibility to keep the halls clean, since it became a certain trend with many posers. He slipped out of the controversial status, finally being able to fit in with the student body, making friends whose thoughts are based on things other than fighting or violence. Dreams, goals, objectives- all these were the things he was able to take part in. But, sadly, it came to an abrupt end when he suddenly lost touch, which of course killed his pride almost instantly. Soon afterwards, he started to become a negative person, which finally started to show itself in the month of April. He gave in to two mentally ill students' philosophy of humanity. Observing, and noticing all the evil that was instilled upon Earth. Like most people, he cast out the positive events that happened in his life, and toward the world in general, solely for the purpose for his criticism to exist. Kei began to dislike, and even loathe this people he shared the planet with.. but, that, was something that he had to take control of later on. It was awkward, because the day he finally settled upon this feeling, he came across a friend of his, who didn’t disregard Kei’s beliefs at all. He actually supported it, which actually gave Keisuke a morbidly yet quenching satisfaction.
And, another factor that added to his depression; the departure of his friend, and the return of his solitude. He didn’t actually know that it would impact him so much, but it did. Though, a month or two afterwards, he had a sort of intervention. Two of the most positive friends he has in Varron, spoke with him, and actually broke through. Of course, he didn’t instantaneously change his beliefs, but, he changed for the better. His manners reverted, but, he still had that cold air about him; which is something that still clouds him today.
Hircine.
He’s done it again. Keisuke was forced to move because of something out of his control. Knowing his younger brother was one of the many being forcibly transferred, he sought his responsibilities as his brothers ‘guardian’. With a phone call, he assured his time and safety across the United States. His uncle, who has been taking care of Keisuke since he first moved to Varron, first lived in San Francisco, still having his home there. Now, Tio Carlos is in Canada for the time being, traveling all around the world for his genius in computer technology. 2000 mile drive to a new home? In an Aston Martin? Sure, why not. Keisuke’s been aching to be apart of a Rally event going across the country for years. His brother however… is taking a plane. He hasn’t the patience to be in a car, especially in a very, very, long ride. Besides, he wished to get used to the scenery and the presence of a new home.. yet once again.
