Name: Steve “Alkaiser” Barzahd
Nationality: North American, family primarily from Russia and Korea.
D.O.B.:Oct. 28, 1991
Age: 16 years old
Weight: 206lbs.
Height: 6’1’’
Build: Relatively small muscles but well defined from head to toe. Always stays very trim which contributes to his speed and avoidability. Balanced in build with a vaguely thin appearance.
Eye color: Brown
Hair: Deep red pulled back hair that forms spikes pointing back. About 4in. in length. Also maintains short thin sideburns down the sides of his face. No other facial hair.
Habits: Always doing something with his hands. Most blame this on nervousness, but Steve has never given a definitive reason for this. Most commonly manifested in twirling pencils or coins across fingers in class, but it is likely that he will twirl revolvers, knives or anything else he can get his hands on as well.
Other Information
Personality: Steve is loud, eloquent, and outrageously persuasive. His cleverness makes him awfully cocky, believing that he can talk his way out of anything he can't already fight his way out of. Despite his stubborn nature, he is quite thoughtful, he just prefers things to be simple. Very quick to make allies, and very quick to claim glory when the chance arrives.
Clothing: Casual – On most days Steve will dress in blue jeans and a tight shirt depicting some band or music company. Wears a steel chain closely around his neck as well as black fingerless padded combat gloves.
Special Occasion – Days on which Steve anticipates an unusual event warrant a new wardrobe. He’ll be seen wearing a button-up black shirt with rolled-up sleeves on top of red suit pants. Sets off his suit with dark opaque sunglasses.
Fight Day – As Alkaiser's fighting style matures, so does his style of dress. To a fight, Steve now chooses a tight moisture control compression suit which allows his muscles to exert a good amount of force for longer while keeping him cool. Over it, he wears a pair of basketball shorts for modesty. He still brings his lucky pair of studded red combat gloves to each match.
Body Shot
Hobbies: Loves playing darts competitively, as well as many different forms of strategy gaming. Has a deep interest in technology and enjoys live comedy.
Extracurricular: Tends to pay very little attention to classes because they bore him with a lack of challenge. Despite this fact, he’s a straight A student and possibly the most successful cheater his last school had ever seen. He has yet to join any clubs, but shows interest in Varron’s dodge ball team, after his last Phy-Ed teacher told him he showed potential. Wishes he could find a school with a darts team.

History: Steve Barzahd was born into a wealthy family living in Brooklyn, New York. When Steve was 3 he witnessed his father killed by the Russian mafia. His father was loosely related to the mafia and had an unshakable allegiance to them. They wanted little Steve to be raised around them and to one day become a part of their organization. When father refused, he was murdered and Steve was taken away. Steve was now under the custody of the mob.
The leader of the organization recognized that Steve was very well adjusted and entered Steve in martial arts training when he was 6 years old. Although he treated Steve like his own son, Steve resented this fake patriarch that he was being brought up under.
When he started taking his aggression into street fights and into the school he began to experience expulsions and disciplinary measures that held no baring on his actions. The thrill of the fight was now flowing through his blood like a primitive second nature. On his thirteenth birthday he killed his “father” as well as several of his most trusted bodyguards and fled the country with his mother. Bribing police officials, the mafia chased after Steve by themselves, but to no avail. The story of “Alkaiser, blood prince of the Brooklyn underground” was passed on and eventually the Mafia gave up their pursuit of him.
At all of his old schools Steve was never in many fights. He had worked up a reputation of putting people in the hospital though. Every school he went to had heard of this "Alkaiser." In a single school year he created a record of 7 schools rejecting him after just one fight. They explained to whoever questioned them that "if you had seen the terror that he brings, you wouldn't wait for a second fight either."
Hearing the reputation of Varron academy, he can't help but be attracted. Whether it's to stay for good or just the allure of the fights, Barzahd knows that this school sounds like the best place for him yet. He also sees Varron as a last stop for him, considering that if he makes trouble here he will undoubtably be turned away from every other school. With little opportunities left he may be forced to return to New York and reintroduce himself to the mafia. Steve finally returns to the States and plants roots a little over a year later near Varron and will soon be entering the academy as a freshman.
Fighting Style: Intermediate level of Muay Thai as well as a deep background in Russian Combat Sambo and a strong informal understanding of Judo. The more striking intensive training he received under Muay Thai contradicts the grappling nature of Sambo. Utilizing the finer points of his Sambo training he has perfected the flow of Judo and now uses the two forms seamlessly. With the Russian martial art he also has an extreme degree of avoidability. The striking weaknesses of Sambo and Judo is made up for with Kickboxing. This has made him a very versatile and deadly weapon from all ranges.
Techniques include: Sacrifice Throws give Steve the edge on the inside with little to no chance of failure. Fast fluid striking techniques transition into each other and give little reaction time to the opponent. Longer ranged striking attacks tend to be riskier and flashier but provide a strong source of damage. Finally, ruthless grappling techniques don’t pin-up an appendage, they break the bone, ending the fight or tipping the advantage safely in favor of Steve.
Strengths: Superior speed and an unusual “sixth sense” of strategic fighting. Good endurance in all ranges of combat. Extremely high avoidability. Lack of old wounds as well as high skeletal integrity.
Weaknesses: Lessened striking power. Defensive skills are somewhat shaky, and are covered up with avoidability. Techniques from Judo tend to put him on the ground as well as his enemy. Also, his size tends to hold him back when he comes into combat with many larger opponents.
Summary: Upon entering Varron Academy, Steve was hurled into a bitter power struggle that included many student groups. Targeted early for recruitment, his true allegiance was highly contested and never actually discovered. Although he tended to lean more towards the likes of Leon Loire and Tyler Scott, he had definite ties to Yukimura the Naginata, as well as Donar Kvist.
Alkaiser became one of the hot prospects among the underground fighting scene, but his involvement in large events was minimal at best. Barzahd was playing the part of a double agent, slowly and silently becoming politically stronger until the events at the Edge consumed the community, and all of the students were uprooted across the country to San Francisco, where they would attend Varron Academy.
Here, Steve quickly became a voice of reason in disguise. He flaunted his fake title as 'the ex-freshman captain of Varron High', fueling the Hircinian's curiosity while attempting to promote peace out of the public eye by breaking up fights between the two student bodies. He is seldom credited with being one of the voices of cooperation among his classmates, although in reality he wanted nothing but the best of his new situation.
During the fallout of the Stern Mason fiasco, Barzahd strived. He used his silver tongue to secure the once antagonistic football team as his personal guard. They had been demoralized from seasons of defeat and the loss of their former leader, Kurtz O'neil. The captain of the team, Scott Kinsman, remains one of Steve's closest personal friends to this day, and the team was able to turn a losing season into playoff birth with Steve's motivation. They went on to lose to the division rival team from Lincoln High in the quarter-finals of the tournament, due to high amounts of injured players after the end of the year struggle with the watchers.
Steve Barzahd also spent a short period of time as a member of Ein Gilsin's Genaht, although this is highly regarded as a purely political move. He was a good lieutenant to Gilsin, rallying the men well, but in the end took some of the men that trusted him away from the gang when he resigned after saving Ein from a watcher backlash. Ein had been severely beaten by Revelation Horseman Conner McGrath, and would have surely been captured had Steve not performed such a feat. This marked the end of Barzahd's membership.
Such political moves eventually drew the attention of school pillar Tiao Lei Shen. He promptly offered Steve a pillar position during a sparring match with Nathan Branigan, who was added to the pillarship roster at the same time. Although the two were not the strongest of all that could have been chosen, they had much potential, as well as a long high school career ahead of them.
During the final battle with principal MacMillan, Barzahd was assigned to keep secure the office in which the final encounter would take place. He became distracted, however, when Revelation front man Seth Calloway threatened the student body encased in the Gymnasium with several blocks of C4. The explosives later were revealed to be fake, and Alkaiser has resolved that the whole situation did nothing more than make a fool of him. This conclusion was reached despite the fact that he was effectively risking his life to save the student body.
Steve walked out of the school that day and was approached by Conner McGrath, whom he resolved that he no longer had quarrel with. The two talked lightly, giving hint that Barzahd may one day support Revelation if it helps him promote himself in any way. The long summer will yield improvements for Steve, although the following year will prove to be tumultuous indeed.
Improvements: Has been growing as boys tend to do, increasing his height from 5'11" to 6'1", and has been focusing on adding power without sacrificing speed. Throughout the year he was only able to put on a little shy of 30lbs of muscle, but he has retained his speed as he wanted to. Also, he has furthered his technique in Muay Thai, dedicating the majority of his summer to his training.
Drawbacks: Bigger means easier to hit, and things that used to just clip him will now be full on hits. He needs to get used to fighting as a larger target if he hopes to remain competitive. Also, his Judo takedowns have been rendered slightly less effective, due in part to his focus on striking over the summer.
