The night before had not brought sleep within her dark embrace to the silent and motionless girl sitting precariously upon one of the few semi-flat places on the roof cooling roof. Ebony hair blown back by the wind, her hat forgotten on the windowsill, she was barely noticeable three stories up. Her eyes closed with her legs crossed in the timeless position of peace and tranquility with her hands resting on her thighs - Leslie allowed the sounds of the city to die away until she was truly alone with her thoughts.
What was her father doing at that same moment? Her brothers? It had been six years since she had last seen any of her immediate family - and she had never seen her mother. Troubled thoughts mixed with reassuring ones... leaving her finally as a polite cough brought her out of her contemplating.
"Natsuko Mai Aiko - you have school in the morning and you are not asleep!"
The girl turned back to look at her great uncle, a small smile working its way upon her lips as she shook her head. "I couldn't sleep, I was thinking." "Girl, you are always thinking. You should have done some drills then tried again. Sitting is not doing you any good." "Hai. I'll try that next time." "It's not the first time I've told you that Lin. Come off the roof and go to bed."
Unhappily leaving her place out in the open air, she climbed nimbly through the window and back into her modest room. Upon a shelf, her collection of lucky cats waved to her - cheering her considerably as they always seemed to.
"Konnichiwa neko-chan." Lin smiled then waved as her uncle merely shook his head. "Okay, okay, I'll drill."
Running through a series of kicks and punches then the new pattern her uncle had taught her the week before, Lin was sweating by the time she finished but satisfied with her progress. She still had to spar more often to get better at hand to hand combat - but it was a start to be sure. Pulling her short hair back into a loose pony at the back of her head, she sighed wearily then crawled into bed... laying there for a few more hours before sleep gradually overtook her.
The next morning, as habit demanded, she rose with the sun to practice once more before she hopped into the shower to rinse and scrub the night from her body. Taking no more than ten minutes to dry and dress in a sturdy pair of canvas pants and a black shirt with a grey t on top - she jumped down the stairs then snagged the rice cake her uncle had left out for her. It never ceased to amaze Lin that Tomio was always up long before her... with breakfast and the store ready for the day.
Eating with one hand while the other stuffed her new school supplies into her satchel, she hurried to the door and stepped into her sneakers - locking the door to the townhouse only to leap over the railling of the stairs and down onto the street.
"Someone slept well." "Hai, konnichiwa Tomio." "Konnichiwa Lin. Eat breakfast? Have your school supplies? You're going to be late if you don't hurry." "I'll be fine."
Bowing gracefully instead of offering a hug as she normally did, Lin expressed her dislike of going to this... school. Feeling it was a way for the world to control her. But she did as she was told - despite everything.
"Go on. You'll have fun."
Lin shrugged, pulling her satchel over her head only to jog toward the bus stop that would take her further into town. The ride was slow, stopping several times to pick other people up - allowing Lin to get a good feel for the route in case she wanted to run rather than take the bus. Arriving nearly a half an hour early, Lin frowned then pulled a book from her pants pocket - thumbing through the pages while settling herself down on the steps to wait for others to arrive.

Traytaine woke up to his wrist being pulled off the bed by Garrick's front K9's. A quiet groan escaped him, he turned and looked down at the half bred wolf. The only things he liked about the dog is that it never panted like most dogs, and would only ever hurt someone trying to fight someone in the home. It just seemed to accept all forms of weather and exhaustion without much fuss, as well as the younger residents that would try to ride him. "It's morning get your ass out of bed!" His wolf growled lowly and turned, Traytaine followed suit by sighing in the direction of the stairwell.
"Yeah I know it's morning, I still have two hours before school starts.." He said in a obviously exhausted voice, the other males always liked to rudely wake him up when he stayed up late the previous night. Even his wolf's teethe were more gentle than them. "Go on boy, go get food." The wolf swiveled and slid down the stairs from the loft. Stretching himself to rid the stiffness of his muscles he slid out of bed, wearing a light gray shirt and black cotton pants. His sleeping clothes for all year round.
He worked his way to the bathroom, taking a two minutes thanks to girl time, another two for the shower itself, and putting on his favorite sent before pulling on his jeans after getting out and drying off. His poncho and hat were picked up down stairs in front of the door, on the hat rack. After putting both on he went to the kitchen, stealing a pop tart from the boy who had woken him up early, and left with his backpack hanging from his right hand.
The walk didn't talk him too long, and on his arrival, thanks to the boy he was much earlier than he wanted to be. Sighing lightly he reached into his partially opened backpack and pulled out homework he still needed to clean up a little. Sitting down on the steps, his back to the railing, he began to erase and rewrite answers that could be mistaken because of the rushed penmanship, hearing a bus stop in front of the school as he did so.

Never truly looking over the schoolyard as she walked over to the steps with her nose already well buried in her new book, Lin sat on the bottom two steps... much too close to the other boy simply because she was oblivious. However, because of her closeness, it soon became aparent because of his smell that she was not alone. Her pert nose wrinkling at the odd scent, she lifted her head and turned just in time to see a jean-covered leg not a foot away. You have got to be kidding me. Did he sit down after I got here? A frown turned the corners of her mouth downward, lips pursing briefly as her mind spun. He wasn't here when I first got here. He couldn't have been!
Self consciously beginning to toy with the ends of her hair, Lin almost immediately realized that she had left her hat at home in her rush to get out the door. "Were you, were you sitting there a minute ago?" As soon as the words were out, Lin blanched and desperately wished to have her hat to hide beneath. Pulling her satchel onto her lap while searching through it hopefully, she paid careful attention to the response but was quite focused on her bag. "Ah..."
Pulling out a small black newsboy cap, she tucked the ends of her hair beneath the cap then lifted her head and looked the other over for the first time - pausing over his unusual clothes briefly only to lower her head once more. It was completely against her nature to start a conversation, but she needed to know whether she needed to move or whether to ... well, move. She could never ask HIM to move, despite if he had sat too close on purpose.
The book that lay on her lap flapped noisily as the pages were caught by the wind, her hand flattening the paper immediately. Growing selfconscious about the closeness, Lin slid to the opposite side of the steps to rest her back on the solid sides... hand tugging the brim of her hat down over her eyes. I just knew this school was going to be bad...

Traytaine was slightly stretched out on the steps, his legs two feet open and leaning back against the railing for support. 'Why do my fives always end up looking like six's..' Distracted from his work with the sudden dilemma he began to write out multiple fives, shifting the curves he placed on them each time just slightly to be sure that he could fix the problem. The line was full, and in his focused state he ended up writing off the piece of lined paper. When the pencil slid off the page he looked to his left, frowning slightly as he realized how distracted he had become.
The timing went well for the person next to him, although only partially. He looked up, quite surprised, his eyes fixated on her for a long moment before her words filtered through. Although, the surprise filleted through amusement as he watched her search through her bag and pulled out a hat he didn't have a name for. While watching this he closed his notebook and placed both that and the pencil back into his backpack. "I don't really remember.. I haven't been here long, I think."
His tone easily betrayed the fact he was slightly confused. Either by the question, or perhaps his own answer. He shifted himself closer to his part of the stairs, and let his eyes scan her. She was wearing a black long sleeved shirt, and for some reason a gray t-shirt over it. Bellow she was wearing just a beige pair of pants.. that the light seemed to go through a little. A very thin material. He looked back up at her and placed his pack next to him, and his arm resting over it.
"You.. want me to move?" He asked while raising his brow. He didn't like being close to other people either, under most cases, but she was quite obviously not a threat. She seemed more timid to him, or maybe she just didn't like him. Both of these seemed possible, but he quickly came to the decision (thanks to many past experiences and being exposed to such people before) and moved himself into a position that would indicate that he was standing up to leave.

Still huddled upon the stairs with her back to the side of the bricked wall, Leslie lifted her head as well as her eyes toward the stranger then frowned a bit deeper than her normal expression. Comfortable with a hat upon her head and her hands tucked deep into her long sleeves, she set about the task of trying to either resolve the situation she had made or simply diverting the confusion from the man to herself. For most of her life she'd been taught that a man should never feel anything but superiority to a woman and it was something she couldn't quite shake away from her childhood.
"Oh. I was just, caught off-guard. My mistake."
Realizing that she had been exceedingly rude, even if she had been a bit disgruntled by the man’s appearance, Lin started as he began to stand up - reaching out her hand only to drop it suddenly and lower her head.
"Please. You don't have to. I mean - I'm sorry. It was my fault."
She attempted a smile that failed miserably, the expression something she wasn't used to allowing and thus her face wouldn't allow it if she didn't actually feel the emotions that went along with it.
"You were doing homework, hai? I interrupted."
Lin fumbled with her book, shutting it then opening it again to be sure she hadn't lost her place, "I'm sorry."

Ah new kids..... he thought plainly, peering at the two new members of Hircine. At the moment, he carefully observed the two kids and let a sigh of relief. They didn't seem so rough like the other bone heads at this school. they may be perhaps one of the few who just wanna have a peaceful education he thought sorrowfully to himself. The one thing i regret is preventing any harm to them. Due to this pointless conflict with Stern, Kvist, and the Varron/Hircinian warfare. But i can atleast try. I am a watchmen, i have to protect them. he thought one more time. Digging into the dark reachs of his Pronto Uomo James Dean Black Leather Jacket, he pulled out a book. He had his hands covering the title of the book, and started forward to where the Two students sat.
Some appearances can be deceiving. Raphs look, some may infer, looked quite threatening. His front hair shadowed his eyes alittle, giving him that 'Death' look on his face. His steps were rather slow and morbid. But in actuality he was in perfect health, and was trying to blow the hair out of his eyes. As soon as he reached the stair case where the two sat, He bluntly sat on the ground, legs crossed, and opened his book. Revealing the title "Dracula" on the front cover. Before he started digging into the fictatious novel, He let a phrase come out of his lips. "Good day...."

OOC: Your link doesn't work quite right.. And it's stretching out the screen. Could you maybe just PM it to us or something?
Traytaine was just about to leave, feeling slightly dejected even though he didn't purposefully sit down next to her, but instead he found that she actually apologized. It was odd, but he merely continued to stand, he still felt out of place after she had originally spoke and would just head to homeroom early and continue there. He noticed that from the side after she spoke that her body had tensed for a moment, and she had reached out to him.
His body had instinctively tensed as the hand reached out to him, his eyes growing intense for that single moment, but then seemed to calm as her hand dropped. Also grateful for the fact she did not see the look in his eyes when she reached out to him he slowly lowered himself back to the stairs, forcing his body to relax. "It's.. alright. I can just go to home room." Traytaine's town would show, as well as his expression and eyes, that he still was willing to leave.
But it seemed she wouldn't be content with that, and began to comment on his notepad. This seemed to lighten his mood, he did want a second opinion. He reached into his backpack and held out the pad, laying it quietly down onto the step between the two of them. He looked it over as he flipped to the page he had written on. "I was just practicing.. My fives.. they kept looking like a six to me. So.." He seemed a bit ashamed of this as well. Then his eyes flicked lightly, and he looked to her with a bit of confusion. "Hai?"
His ears seemed to burn, his head instinctively turning as someone approached, and his crystal-like blue eyes seemed to clash against the odd image of a male student. He boldly, too bluntly, came close to him. Although somewhere in the back of his mind, he didn't like that he came close to the girl who also did not like being close to others, and placed a distinctive bitterness on the tip of his tongue. He had many different ways he could ask him why he sat there, or to tell him to leave, but instead he simply shifted himself back slightly and stared without responding to the greeting.

Behaving as she had been subconsciously trained since she was young, she attempted to do everything possible to reassure him that it was her mistake and her fault. Tugging her hat down around her ears to hide her eyes and the fear she felt at being caught in such a situation, she inwardly berated herself then paused as he spoke again. He seemed to be quite pleasant but something else about him simply screamed to her suspicious nature to not be trusted, not be given the opportunity - but that wasn't her either.
"It's.. alright. I can just go to home room." "Really, it's my fault. I can leave if you wanted to finish here. I always seem to be in the way... um, just everywhere"
She had been looking downward when she dropped her hand, never seeing his reaction to her gesture but she assumed that it was acceptable to show such emotions. Acceptable and even wanted, not despised. Her uncle did things in the same way when he spoke to customers, and they seemed to love him because of it! Just as her brothers and caretakers had, so did her uncle give off that charismatic attitude, a blessing she was gradually learning to use but hadn't quite mastered. Besides the obvious, if anyone was going to leave the stairs in favor of a classroom or even their home it would be her.
Glancing over to the tattered notebook he had been slaving over before she interupted him, she scooted over briefly to look over the writings then smiled and pointed to the curves, "You just brought it around too much."
Slowly bringing her lower lip into her mouth as she thought it over, she dug into her satchel for her own notebook then brought it out and held it toward him, "See, if you bring it around too far then the edges blend." She carefully drew a five then a six, with the five leaving the end toward the bottom rather than bringing it up. "It's less work even. Not much less, but less."
"O-oh, it means 'yes', in japanese. I didn't mean to speak that way. I'm sorry, I still speak oddly sometimes when I am trying to ... to, be quick? Speak quickly?"
Confused over her own words, she shook her head then murmured to herself the strange phrase until she finally gave up her explanation and curled her legs close to her chest with her book open in front of her. However, her peace would be instantly broken by another invader.
Ignoring him at first as he didn't seem like an imminent threat, she tried to return to her book only to realize that he was heading straight for them. Lin slowly lifted her head to look from one male to the next, her frown deepening slightly. She couldn't understand why there were so many boys in this school - she had yet to see one other girl. Turning her brown gold eyes upon the newcomer, she instinctively found that his attitude was almost arrogant and condescending.
"I'll leave though, if you want."
Never waiting for the first male's response, Lin shyed away from the second presence as well as the first, then she gathered up her satchel and stuffed her book back into her pants pocket only to stand and move several feet away where she could still speak to the pair but was immensely more comfortable. Sitting in a sheltered corner, her hair falling out of her hat from the movement, she stuffed it back under the fabric then sighed harshly in frustration as it refused to stay.
"Kon-konnichiwa."
Her tone was a bit colder than before, her mind reacting to the disrespect she percieved the second newcomer had given her.

he wasen't alone, he had a short kid, about a year younger then Raph, translate for him. The kid knew both italian and enlish. The Whole Time Raph spoke, it was in italian, while the kid began to translate for him.
Amperora sì, nuovi allievi di buona mattina di Hircine. L'OH, non è allarmato prego dal mio precense. Relativo stato per un po'poiché ho fatto i miei fare capelli.
"Ah yes, good morning new students of Hircine. Oh, please do not be alarmed by my precense. Its been awhile since i had my hair done..."
And while Raph said the sentence in italian, He moved his hand and waved his hair back, revealing the calm and gentle Hazel eyes the two students can see, as well as the calm expression on his face.
"I am Raphael, a Varronite of this school. Yes, i know you have probably heard rumors of the Varronites. But be assured that not all of us are as bad as you think we are. I know a few others who only want a peaceful education and graduation..."
Raphael closed his book and sat up a bit and took a glance at the two alarmed students.
Delle domande?
"Any Questions?"
((Qiuck fact, Raph didnt sit On the stairs, he sat on the ground in front of the stairs))

OOC: Note that Tray isn't ignoring you in the beginning, he's reacting to what happened before you arrived. I understand it seems a bit odd, but it gives me more to work with after all.
Traytaine watched as she scooted closer, not by much of course but just enough to see the notepad he had placed down. It didn't take her long to point at the curves, and he frowned slightly. It seemed naturally to put the curves on it, but he wanted to know how to fix it anyways, so he looked up at her for an explanation. She seemed.. less worried. If that was even what she was to begin with.
Looking up from the notebook, up her arm instead of her torso, he noticed that she had taken her lower lip into her mouth, presumably as she thought. It was an odd look, but it was a little more than amusing. Then his eyes were drawn to the notebook she pulled out, and showed him how she drew both numbers. "Mmm. I see. I guess I kept wanting to make it smoother." He said with a light sigh.
'Hai means yes in Japanese. So does that means she is Japanese?' He hadn't really taken the time to even notice that she was Asian, let alone venture a guess about which Asian country she was from. He had tried once, and he ended up insulting the male in question. 'They say all Caucasians look the same, but saying all Asians look the same is insulting, go figure.' He thought as the memory came through. "Oh.. Speak too quickly. There''s no problem. I just don't know any Japanese.."
Traytaine slid his own notebook closer, the sound grating his ears for a moment, and then tried to write out both again. He mimicked exactly what she had done, and placed into his memory as best he could, by repeating it multiple times again. Vaguely he had heard from above him, as his head was over the notebook, that she had settled herself again and did not leave as she said she would. It seemed that neither of them was that uncomfortable for the moment.
It was quiet, other than the shifting of paper and pencil, for a small amount of time. But then another sound caught his ear. His head instinctively turning as someone approached, wanting to gauge if he was just a passing student. His crystal-like blue eyes seemed to clash against the odd image of a male student. And instead of passing, as he hoped he would, he sat down in front of both of them.
He had many different ways he could ask him why he sat there, or to tell him to leave, but instead he simply shifted himself back slightly and stared without responding to the initial greeting."You don't need to leave." He said simply, his voice seeming distant, and purposefully directed to the person already sitting there. And not the male student who had sat in front of them.
He was vaguely comfortable with the girl, but the new student struck him wrong. This feeling of foreboding continued as a younger male came forward, and seemed to.. echo what the first was saying. 'Why is he speaking another language? He said his greeting normally..' Frowning he too shifted himself back, standing with his backpack just bellow his right hand as he stared. ".. a Varronite? Is it some kind of violent country?"

It was a good morning, good for looking for disobediants. The early sun glinted off the black leather and chain armband that was on the right arm. Vince was one of the better thinkers in Genaht, learning from Ein's example quickly and well. Some of the people that were once his friends called him crazy and said the Varronite Pillar was twisting his thoughts. Those were the people he had beaten first for trying to inhibit his thought. You couldn't stop the progress of the mind and the ignorants felt that lesson.
It was then the tall slim youth of six feet and 175 some odd pounds sighted the small group. There was an interesting oriental girl, some homeless looking boy...and Raphael. Vince sighed as he walked up to the group, hearing Raphael speak what was doubtless Itailian while some overly impressive kid translated. The Genaht member shook his head.
"Look Vampy, I know you can speak english and I'm happy you've taken the whole blood drinking thing to heart, but doesn't Maverick have some kind of task set up for you? Like I don't know, something productive?"
Vince would have a stoic and hard look on his face, almost similar to what Ein might display though not as threatening. Vince would await the response, then give his attention to the other two.

Confused by the appearance of the second, older male, Lin’s eyes flitted from the poncho to the Varronite who called himself Raphael. She had consciously moved from the situation, made uncomfortable by the coldness and perceived disrespect that the elder student had for them. While she had been taught to always obey her superiors (which mainly included men), there was something about this Raphael that made her blood run cold. Then again, as her uncle had told her so many times, she did have a tendency to judge first on appearances and attitude rather than wait to actually know the person. And that she had learned from her father.
Slowly gathering her satchel up again to hold it against her chest, she moved slightly to her left and back toward the male she had met upon coming to school – feeling more comfortable with him than alone though she did keep a respectful distance between herself and him. But just as things had seemed to finish changing, yet another male appeared in the schoolyard.
Looking out from around the solid body in front of her, Lin would have been amused by the leather and chain armband he wore simply because she didn't associate leather and chains with anyone but bikers had it been on a less dark person. But the way he seemed to dismiss Raphael was more than enough to convince her that he was just as dark as his accessory was and possibly even tougher than he seemed. The same feeling that warned her of that also expressed doubts in wanting to come into conflict with a character like him. That she most likely wouldn’t come out on the victorious end of things.

Tray((We all work in many ways )) Gilsin((......)) Vampires, Blood Drinking, blah blah freakin blah. Even since that one mesely slip up at the last tourney, he's gained himself an odd form of fame. And quite frankly he had grown tired of it. He was a human being, a goddamn human being. He would have to settle this vampire nonsense once and for all later. A simple sigh was let out, before putting his book away and speaking toward The Genaht member. "Ahem. If i may speak in english" He said clearly, his voice a bit strong. "I've gone on so far without being called that. And id be doing great if everyone stopped calling me it. And as far as Sensei-Maverik's orders, i haven't heard anything new yet, so i am taking time to meet new people, like a Human does, Ok?" After he finished his sentence, he turned to the other two. "Im not gonna lie, You'd be better off here then at Varron. Varron was just plain bad. But i honestly can't describe the school enough to you...." He said, before rubbing his eye alittle. "And yes, i speak english like this man said..." He peered at the one by him.

Traytaine turned his attention up to the recent approaching student. He was tall, but from his vantage point he didn't realize he would actually be shorter if he was standing upright. While he had approached during the translation he did weight until it was done before he spoke up. The statement he made was one he wanted too make. Why didn't he just speak English? The rest seemed rather odd. It was probably a reference from something he had yet to learn.
His attention would then shift from the students words, to his expression. The male looked, quite simply, stoic. There was no sadness nor happiness that he could see. He was just- there. Which made it all the more odd. To his right he could hear the girl moving again, picking up her things and moving closer. His head did not turn to inspect this, but he let his eyes drift up to her as she stepped behind him, which could effectively hide her from view if he were to stand.
It really was an odd situation. Someone came close to him, and he didn't feel threatened. Two were in front of him, and he was unsure of both. He was uninterested in the first one who came, but partially labeled him as a threat. And the second hardly addressed him or the girl, so again he did not know where to place him. Then an odd thing happened, the one who for whatever reason spoke by using a translator, began to speak English. Fluently. And in an agitated tone.
"Sensei?" He heard from him. Seeming to ignore the rest of the mans speaking he turned to look over his shoulder, his eyes seeming slightly lost as he looked to the girl who he knew to be Asian and speak Japanese. "Was he speaking Japanese before?" His tone also betrayed his confusion with the situation, of something seemingly small, and affectively ignoring the first to approach thanks to his change of attention.

Vince sighed, Raph obviously didn't catch the hint. Then again it was something he was famous for, the kid was one of the largest Ignorants that he could think of. He had full opprotunity to become better and chose not to do so. Though, that was assuming he knew the option.
"I'll remember you hate being called vampy, when you stop attempting to look like one and carrying around Dracula of all things."
The Genaht member shook his head at Raph at this point. If you didn't like a reputation you stopped associating with it untill it left you. He had little doubt that such an idea had yet to cross Raph's mind, but no everyone could think. It was part of the problem.
"And yeah, Varron was bad. But it was only bad because the Arrogant decided they deserved everything. Things can be different here yet, Ein's going to make this school make sense."
Vince would turn to the homeless boy and give a small smirk at his outburst. The kid wasn't too stupid and was certainly trying to peice things together admirably, the little oriental girl seemed nothing but frightened however.
"No he doesn't speak Japanese...I think... He's just talking about another one of the groups. You two have walked into a mine field though, that's for sure. Just keep walking straight and stay out off the groups and you'll be fine. Take a turn though...and you may blow up."
