This doesn't have anything to do with my own desire, but considering the long history of San Francisco's China Town (the preeminent in the US), and the large number of asian heritage characters on the board, it might deserve it's own section. Or at least subboard.
Just something to take under consideration, though chances are you've probably already thought of it.

I'd say add it. *cough*
Never thought about it, actually.

This area, like any other in the city, can easily be covered in the streets. If we see enough threads set in China Town, it might be considered... But otherwise, it's not really necessary. Just say that's where you are in the thread.

I will admit, I was planning on making a ChinaTown thread some time ago due to Lunar New Years, which just happened this Sunday.
(Of course, I was too busy attending that event IRL to make such a thread…)
But giving it some thought, there’re quite a few other Asiatic districts in San Francisco besides ChinaTown like Little Saigon and JapanTown. They’re all relatively close to each other, unless I’m mistaken.
We’ll have to wait and see if activity shows that we need a “Sunset District”.

I know that these are usual settled with "It can be covered in the streets" but I really think we should add in some other subsection to it.
Otherwise it might be much harder to navigate through posts there as activity may increase.

Ultimately though, it is a decision of the staff. I support it only because of the huge cultural significance; San Francisco was the gateway between the East and West for decades.
However, I agree with Maverik that the initiative has to come from RP'ers. If it's a choice between innavigable threads, and a board that never gets used, they are both equally bad. That's just me.
*Sidenote: As Valencia pointed out, the other Asiandistricts are an equal part of said culture.

I'll back up my fellow Moderator on this. The idea of a Chinatown subsection is a smart idea, but the moment does not require it, and even if we included it, I highly doubt it'll be widely used.
Now, before you all roll your eyes, understand there's a reason to why we're ignoring Chinatown. When this board was founded, we all discussed what types of sections and subsections should be introduced. People threw out all sorts of things, particularly ideas to post subsections for the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and others. They were fun ideas, but there was a problem: the Golden Gate bridge is just that, one damn bridge; Alcatraz is a retired island prison with no other uses than as a tourist resort. We thought up the idea of setting separate sections for "city attractions" and dropped it simply because the clear thought was that threads based in these areas would be rare and spread apart in consistency, and therefore a subsection based on such areas would be very quiet, not worth the time when people could catch those threads in the Streets.
I'll offer this: if you all start making threads based in Chinatown, Little Saigon and Japantown like mad, then we'll definitely make its own subsection. But it's simply impractical at the moment.
Again, good suggestion Rowan; try to encourage its support by roleplaying it.
