You're dumb.
You don't know if Cloverfield came from space.
There's just as many theories it was a water creature, disturbed out of rest from the deep. Cuz let's be honest, the deep deep sea is just as unexplored, and probably more scary than outer space.
Just so you know: I don't really think you're dumb.

Which raises the question, where the fuck did it come from? I mean, if something like that came from space, I think someone would have seen that go down, If it landed in the ocean, while it may be huge, people sail through the ocean, planes go through the sky, and satellites orbit the earth. Someone would have seen that come down. Or if it lived in the ocean, this is my bet right here, that thing looked a little fishy. (see that? I made a funny, fishy, ocean. Mwhaha yes). Not to mention that it's little spawns looked suspiciously like crabs. Or we're dealing with a military thing again. Again. I refuse to believe that one. On a side note, did anyone notice that it's little baby spawn demons made hilarious noises?

That's a true possibility, Ryan, but nothing on the creature's body indicated that it was a deep sea creature. Besides: if it was from the deep sea, than why did it have little minions that were hunters that used land and hunted mammals?
And one of the theories regarding the whole space idea Martin is that the creature was in its infancy when it crash landed into New York's bay, or may have been in "seed" form inside of an asteroid before landing. It could have then grown to its massive size by the time of the film, and as some pointed out, it could have been that "splash" in the filming the couple had done two-six weeks prior (I can't remember the exact time lapse between.)
In any case, it's hard to say. The only real way we'll know is if Abrams releases a sequel of some kind, or at least publishes a book to explain his ideas.

I remember seeing the advertisements and I remembered one of the slogans being "what is it?" Thinking about that, prior to the movie itself the advertisements really didn't say anything at all.
I was listening to what a friend of mine said and he didn't like the general handling of the camera. It was interesting to see the style in which they did it, but it also made him want to throw up.

Yeah that was a big turnoff for a lot of my friends as well. But I liked that they did that, by the way, did anyone notice that the guy with the camras' name? I can remember what it was, but I think I heard it somewhere like in the game Halo, refering to his helmet.

The guy holding the camera was named Hud, I believe, or something very close to that sound. Im probably very wrong, because I didn't hear his named that clearly when I was watching the movie, cause well, I was too busy trying to see everything instead of hear it.
But the camera style didn't deter me at all, in fact, I thought it brought more of a personal feel to the situation, which really kept me involved, or so I thought.
But as for HUD, it means heads up display, common in video games and other media.

Cloverfield came from space (read black text for full story)
Okay, while I didn't see this myself, one of my friends saw this two times, and TWICE he saw the same thing. At the Ferris wheel scene, when Brad and whats-her-face are talking, you see something in the background, kinda like a pod or a small asteroid, plop into the water.
...'nuff said...

Yea, I think it's from Space
I am, after all, a huge fan of the Lovecraft Novels
That's why when I first say Cloverfield, I was like "HOLY SH!T! IS THAT CTHULHU?"

Wait, Lovecraft was the mind behind the Cth... whatever?
...
That explains a LOT.

Wikipedia is your friend.
Its a baby sea creature that's been around for thousands of years, is detached from its family of sea creatures, and is very afraid of the land environment.
Also, the little creatures are massive fucking lice.

Dude, I just straight up liked that movie. I think most movies right now are recycled bullshit like batman and remastered things and pre-quils and I appreciated something that was fairly created and unpredictable. Blah blah blah. That is all.

Don't you ever talk shit about Batman, boy! I second that anger. Batman's the shit, not a pile of bullshit. Yeah, it may be recycled, but that doesn't make it any less entertaining and fulfilling. But Cloverfield was sweet, and I liked the camera angle.
