((100th post. Yay!))
Martin walked through the doors of the hospital. He went forward through the double doors. He went to the front desk to a receptionist who looked like she wished she had better things to be doing that sit here all day. He wasn't grinning, or smiling, he wasn't happy-go-lucky as normal. He was serious today.
" 'scuse me. I'm looking for my sister."
The receptionist pointed to a sign that read: "Visiting hours 7:00am - 10:00 pm."
Martin glanced at his watch. 10:05 pm. He frowned. Thats plain unreasonable. He turned to the door leading to the receptionist's room. He walked in. The receptionist yelled something about how he can't do that. He looked through the files until he found 'Sarah Tome'. Room IIV floor 2 He ran out of the room and to the elevator. He could hear the receptionist yelling but Martin was in a stubborn mood. He opened the doors and hit the '2' button. The doors opened and he ran past a large man who yelled out in surprise. Martin continued to room IIV. He stopped for a moment because the man seemed oddly familiar. He shook his head and continued into the room. On the bed was a woman with long brown hair. His twin.
Martin took a deep breath and noticed a silver and white mask next to the bed. Antonio. Martin bent over took look at his sister. He nearly cried. Then he noticed a vase of flowers next to the bed. Antonio didn't say anything about flowers... Martin suddenly realized something. The man he had brushed past had looked a lot like him. Martin glanced out the window to see hailing a cab, it was the man he had hit. He couldn't make out the man's face clearly. Martin rushed out of the room. Promising himself he would come back. He rushed to the elevator, it was taking too long. Besides, that receptionist probably called security.
Martin ran down the stair well. He went down them all, jumping over many of them. He made it back to the waiting room, the receptionist gone. He burst out the double doors to see the man had gotten a cab. He ran forward and grabbed the man's jacket. The man turned around and looked down at him with a distasteful look. The man had brown short hair and a mustache. His eyes also brown only they had a hateful look in them. He looked almost exactly like a taller and wider image of Martin. He was the one who had put the flowers in the vase. Martin was at a lost for words.
"You are not mine. She is, not you. I don't want you."
With that the man shoved Martin off and got into the cab. Martin stood awestruck. He watched the cab drive off until it left his vision. He heard commotion inside the hospital. He turned and walked down the side of the road, totally crushed.
Dad.
Martin would later wander the streets, broken. He would walk again, that much he knew. The next time, he wouldn't freeze up.
