Leon Loire found himself grinning at Charlotte's dislike of "outgoing" people, and even more towards her opinion that he hadn't been outgoing or "bubbly" (this word brought a good deal of bemusement to Leon's mind) when he calmed down the ruckus at the cafeteria. It seemed that Leon remembered that day a little differently than Charlotte did, and at the same time, it seemed that she found herself caring about someone who, in many respects, was much of that outgoing personality that bothered her.
"Well, the way you describe me is certainly different from what I'm used to, but I can't help but like that..." Leon mentioned at last, smiling lightly at Charlotte's uncomfortable, and unnecessary, apology. He found himself raising his eyebrows in confusion for a moment after she gave him a question, yet when she explained, he sighed, frowning at the difficult thought.
Leon leaned back in his seat, staring out at the darkened waves as they crashed against the watery beach, the scene tranquil, yet his mind uncertain. All of what Charlotte asked was something that he could not control, and barely foresee. How could he say something that he could be sure was true? And to top it all off, one of the subjects was a matter of what their relationship could become. How was he supposed to treat that?
So Leon decided to reply with a calm, thoughtful path, considering the future, and the present, with a careful comb, "With Stern attempting to begin a movement against the Pillarship and the Principal, I suspect that he will certainly gain a reasonable following. With that support, he'll likely lead a riot of sorts, and attempt to cause chaos throughout the entire building. I don't know how he plans to pull it off, or when, or even much of why, but in all, that final result is definitely certain, and the only thing that would be left to do would be to resist it, and to wait for the result. If he succeeds, the school will fall into disarray; if it fails, then the school will recover, and more than likely, we'll go into a phase of peace, perhaps even one that lasts to the end of the year.
"With the future... all that I can see which is significant is the fall of the System. Such a way of life is doomed to failure, and eventually, the Corporal Punishment System is destined to be replaced by something else - whether that replacement is good or bad, we can't be sure. But I can promise you Charlotte that, some day, the System will fall. It's only a matter of when and where the domino effect begins.
"And... with us..." Leon began to finish the entire reply, staring at the sea ahead, then sighing, and placing his eyes upon Charlotte with full attention, "I honestly don't know. Logic says that we could go on for many years together, or we could end up apart next week. There's no way to tell time, and there's no way to tell how we'll both react, and how we'll react to each other. I think the greatest obstacle will be when I leave for college next September. If we make it that far, and if it becomes... well, serious, then we need to be ready for that distance between us."
Leon allowed a frown to pass over him; the thought was obscure to him, but the fact that there was a timeline, a date on their relationship was a great bother to him. The worse part was, he barely even knew Charlotte that well. What was to say they would be together for that long? There was no way to know, and yet, much they could do to guarantee it.
But was their relationship one that they both wished to last, or was it that, deep inside, one or the other wanted to eventually break away? Leon wasn't sure; he couldn't tell how he felt, and with a sigh, he simply nodded his head and placed his right hand on Charlotte's left.
"There's no way to know... so --" Leon found himself laughing a bit at his next mention, "I guess we've got no choice but to wing it. What do you think Charlotte, you ready to give it a try with a bubbly, outgoing guy?"
