Mae's eyes simply shifted to regard Conner at the corner of her eyes as he whispered to her. She let the left corner of her mouth lift in a sort of half-smirk at what he said (on the side he could probably see), possibly acting out amusement to what he said. She didn't wanna seem bothered by it, so why NOT let it seem like she didn't care? After all, she didn't...right? She turned her head to watch him smile back into his seat before shaking her head (which she had no idea WHY she did) and turning her gaze back on her lap.
Seth answered Conner's question, only to be tossed another comment soon after from one of the 'Piglets' they had recruited that time. What was his name again? She usually just remembered him as Piglet Number 2. Her thoughts were interrupted as Seth's hands were placed on her shoulders, though and she gave a flinch at that, something she always did maybe due to her paranoia and stuff. Still she settled down when her mind registered it as being harmless.
'Ohhh his name is Bear. Oh well, I was close with the fact his name is still an animal name...'
Her moment of relaxed-ness was soon over, and Seth leaned down to speak near her ear much like Conner had done. Sometimes she wondered if they planned these things...Conspiracy aside, Seth's whispered words made her arch a brow. Did she do something wrong? Usually when people said it like that, that's what it meant. 'Oh hell.' She let him leave, keeping her seat for the moment as Seth spoke his closing words and headed outdoors. She felt a tad nervous. She wasn't sure why. Maybe it was the way he spoke. She could easily write it off as him being in a hurry, but she had a weird feeling.
'It's just Seth. It's not like he's gonna beat on me with a stick or something. Might as well go, now.'
She looked towards Conner, the only one she deemed significant still in the premises before giving him a nod.
"I'm going. See you."
She barely gave him a moment to reply before getting up from her seat and walking off towards the door. Logan intercepted her however, stepping out before her. He seemed nervous and fidgety as usual, but now his eyes looked hurt.
"Where are you going?"
"Outside. Then to home."
"Without me? I don't wanna walk back by myself..."
"Stay here, Logan. Maybe someone from Revelation will walk with you if you're so paranoid. Otherwise, hold on. I just need to do something, I'll come get you after."
"What are you going to-" He stopped. He always did when irritation was apparent in Mae's face and her glare was that much deeper. Honestly, Logan was such a pansy. So nervous about being ganged up on by people who hate revelation or who just prey on the weak and helpless like him. Mae-Lim felt sympathetic for him though, and while he annoyed her leaps and bounds here and then, she couldn't be cruel to him.
Logan seemed convinced and hesistantly turned away and walked back to mingle with the others. Mae sighed and continued to walk until she was through the door. She paid no mind to anyone else on the way. Out the door she'd walked a few steps forward until realising she'd seen something at the corner of her eye. She stopped, turned to look over her shoulder and saw that Seth was leaning on the wall. Her body turned around too then, and she walked slowly closer to him.
"What...is it...?"

The dark haired youth leaning against the wall could hear the girl exit the bar, though he didn't turn to look at her. Instead, he took another drag from his cigarette, holding the smoke in his lungs as he flicked the ashes off the end onto the ground, then slowly releasing. Mae-Lim's words seemed hesitant, as did her slow approach, which made Seth wonder whether or not she was actually afraid of him. It was hard to tell with the girl, as she was anti-social even in the best of moods, but it was something certainly worth pondering over.
"I've meant to ask you this question since the very first day we met, Mae-Lim, but there never seemed to be enough time."
He hadn't looked at her while he spoke, but once he was finished, the male sophomore turned his head in her direction. For once, his face wasn't grinning confidently, an odd expression given the rallying speech he'd just finished delivering moments before.
"But I suppose that time is running out. While I don't believe that it will happen, there's a very real chance we might not succeed when the time comes, and only a fool doesn't prepare for the scenarios that he can foresee."
Seth dropped his cigarette to the ground, grinding it underneath his shoe to put out the remaining flame, before walking towards Mae-Lim, moving just as slowly as she had been walking towards him.
"What is it you want out of life, Mae-Lim? What is it that keeps you here with us, with me? I know the answers I gave you when we first met, but I want to hear what you think, from your own lips."

"You heard the man. Let's drink!"
Conner shrugged, wasting no time in extending his bottle back into the air. A cheer echoed throughout the bar. Not everyone was drinking of course, but those that did were typically the ones that flocked to Conner, and naturally would be the louder of the group regardless. Conner knew all he even needed to know, which was virtually nothing to begin with. Why change things up now?
He had seen Seth whisper something in Mae-Lim's ear as well. His face didn't hold a smile like Conner's, however, and for a moment Conner's curiousity spoke. It seemed Conner was being told less and less, and Mae-Lim was ever increasing in gang secrets. Was he being left out all of a sudden? Unlikely, but that's what it was beginning to look like. Conner watched the door a few minutes, watching as both the fellow horsemen walked out. As soon as he gained interest though, he lost it. Conner shrugged once again, realizing the extent of his own apathy as he took yet another swig.
"Hey, uh, Conner...can you walk me home?" Logan, or known to Conner as Weasel Boy, approached, asking as he shook with anxiousness as usual.
"What? Fuck no." Conner arched an eyebrow, downing the rest of his bottle before grabbing one of the others upon the table.
"But Mae-Lim won't! I need somebody to-"
"Ah, shut up, and c'mere. Quit your bitching all the time. Here, give the baby his bottle!"
Conner pulled Logan into the chair Mae-Lim had been in formerly, shoving a beer in his face. He continually declined, though it seemed Conner had selective hearing as he'd just keep offering the beer and waving it in front of his face. Logan would just keep shaking his head, waving his hands in front to hand signal the same message he spoke.
"No, I don't want it..."
"Alright, alright..." Conner finally trailed off, setting the bottle on table. He grabbed another bottle, square in shape and holding it in front of Logan with a bigger grin. "You're a man of hard liquor, aren't you...!"
Seth and Mae-Lim could talk all they wanted. Conner was content with the responsibility he already had:
None.

'What's the meaning of this...?'
Mae's lowered eyes kept still on Seth, hardly ever blinking. Outwardly she seemed rather unphased but internally she was confused. Regardless she said nothing. Mostly because at the moment, she didn't quite know WHAT to say. Putting out his cancer-stick, he bagan to make his way to her, slowly as she had, which made her stop in her tracks. He spoke his final words and Mae-Lim's eyes were allowed to widen (not in surprise mind you, just to say her eyes were fully open now).
Good Question.
She remained silent, her eyes dropping from him first then her head following them downwards to stare at her feet. Kind of a sign that she was thinking. The answer wasn't obvious. It wasn't a simple "Because I feel what you are doing is just and I wanna help and blah blah blah" kind of crap. If that were it, Mae-Lim wouldn't still be around. No there was more to it that pulled her to stay in Revelation, that made her even bother.
"At first it was all for a purpose..." Mae began, looking up at Seth then. It was different then usual. Maybe the fact Seth was acting differently prodded her to do so as well. She actually seemed to display emotions. Her eyes weren't apathetic and her voice carried more emotion then the usual monotony. "You'd gotten my interest back then...when you told me you wanted to replace the system with us. That was quite enough for me to want to try it out. I mean...I didn't think I'd even stay passed a week..."
She trailed off, forcing herself not to turn from Seth like she had the habit to with anyone.
"I ended up staying. I'd like to think I made friends and I suppose that helped me stay loyal, helped me WANT to stay and help out. But mostly, I wanted to stay because of..."
She stopped again and shook her head. "I just want to be there for those I feel a closeness to. It was all about myself at first, but It's turned out to be more then that now. If that isn't reason enough for me to stay then I guess there isn't much else to it."
She shifted weight onto her other leg, letting her gaze stray now in a sure sign she felt a bit uncomfortable. She actually sounded like she cared. She didn't like talking like this, but, she figured she at least owed Seth an answer. How ever he took it, she wasn't going to change her mind. The reasons she joined before were hardly the reasons why she stayed in the gang to this point. While she said most of why, she still had a right to keep other reasonings to herself. The fact she'd admitted a certain bond with a few was a private enough thing to say. Well in her opinion. Opening herself up to people was never easy.
When she brought her gaze back on him, suspecting he'd answer what she said in some way, Mae-Lim let the corners of her lips lift up in a smile. It was hard to tell if it was genuine or just a nervous smile, and she wasn't sure why she felt the urge to smile in the first place but it made her feel better. It helped calm her down, and the time it was stuck there came to a close soon enough, and the smile vanished. Her eyes lowered again and she gave a soft inaudible sigh.
'I hope this doesn't get any more awkward.'

Seth had stopped just a few feet away from Mae-Lim, giving her a small degree of personal space in an odd contrast to how he tended to act with her in public. Perhaps it was the delicate nature of their discussion that kept him from getting closer, or the knowledge that such teasing tended to annoy her and now was not the time. Regardless, he would wait patiently, listening intently to every word she said.
"That's a far more noble reason than I expected. You're just full of surprises, my dear."
Once Mae-Lim smiled towards him, Seth would do the same, as if the expression were infectious. Given what little he knew of the girl in front of him, he was aware of how rarely such glimpses into her mind were, and the fact she'd been so open thus far was a good sign. His eyes glanced to the side, catching the sight of a car passing by, before returning back to the task at hand.
"Your reason is as good as any, you needn't worry about that. I was just curious if your mind had changed, and whether you were participating because you wanted to, not because you were obligated to."
The sophomore boy walked closer, risking getting closer, as the mood seemed appropriate for such a thing.
"My reasons, however, have not changed. But you have nothing to fear, no matter how the rally goes, nothing will happen to you. Out of the entire student body, you'll probably be the safest."

Mae's shoulders gave a bit of a twitch as Seth came closer, almost as though the sound of his foot had scared her. She lifted her head slightly, keeping it relatively bowed but raising her eyes to look at the Leader of Revelation. She made no outward disapproval of her space becoming smaller however inside there was still a certain worry. Like a paranoid rodent. A squirrel or something. It was a relief that her reasoning had been acceptable because Mae-Lim would of protested any suggestion of wanting to know more.
'Obligated to? I never do anything if I feel I HAVE to. I do what I want.' she thought for a second, her attention returning to Seth as he began to speak.
Something about his words both relieved her and annoyed her. 'Course, the first time they met (and the day she joined Revelation) Seth had made such a promise to her. A promise that she would be protected. Nice that your safety is assured but she wasn't sure she liked being put in the whole "Damsel in distress" kind of part. "The safest." she parroted, her head raising but her eyes lowering at the same time, reaching their partially opened (or closed, for the pessimists) state and her eyes staring downwards to the left. It's like part of her wanted to say she could take care of herself. She didn't mind people having her back but somehow she just felt like something that needed to be protected which was annoying.
And yet, she felt relief too.
'What the hell? Stupid mind.'
"Thanks." That was all she could say really. She wasn't sure how else to put it. Being "guarded" would certainly make her task easier at the rally. She had no time to dilly-dally and she didn't want to put up with obstacles. 'Lord forbid the watchers show up.' She'd just have to think of it as help instead of guarding only. Yeah. That made her feel better.
She shook her head then, giving a few blinks and shifting her weight from her right leg to her left, "Was that....all?"
