"You are asking me?"
Miyako just casually hugged her bag; what a party pooper. She'd not long moved to the United States, she had no idea what teenagers did for fun there. Back home, a trip to the karioke clubs would suffice with a few girl 'friends' but not here. The mall seemed to be the top hangout so far; she'd heard one or two girls talking about it yesterday in class. But glancing over at Caden, she couldn't imagine dragging him around the shops, or taking him to sing pop songs....or could she? Seems she had a lot of work to do.
"Today we go study but, you do this, every saturday? What about football, or....movies? You not big strong quaterback like on American TV?"

Caden was still waiting, and he was a little more amused with her antics than normal as she seemed surprised when he asked her of her opinion. And a little nervous from what he could guess when she hugged her bag. But giving that more thought he dismissed the idea. Although he took up the same amusment when she asked if he played football, and a quarterback no less. "Tii's ain't Japan lass. Three hundred million people. Only fifty football teams, giv'er take. Do the math, you'll see the media just loves high end people."

"Oya! Thirty say footballers times fifty teams, 'giv'er take'" She mimicked his accent fairly well, and had the answer to the maths sum immediately without much effort on her part. "Out of one thousand hundred, my father picked the...what's it called? Book-worm?"
Miyako giggled, finding that insult amusing though, it was pretty ironic she was a closet bookworm herself. From her observations at school though, Caden didn't have many, or any friends. Aside from tagging onto her for her so-called protection, as the job required, he just seemed to enjoy his own space. She supposed they shared something in common though, but again, she wasn't about to admit that. She knew her reasons for not wanting real friends but, what were his? And, he hadn't answered her other question, which begged to reason that, he really did see reading as a regular saturday 'fun' activity.
"Tell me. What did you do last saturday? When you no have me to be bodyguard to?"

"Quarterbacks would be making more money then me fer' starters." He said back rather quickly, a small grunt given before he pulled back onto the street. It seemed the decision of local had still gone to his house for the moment. Although spending his Saturday with Miyako was getting less and less appealing. He would like nothing better to be back in bed, and if he couldn't do that, nothing actually seemed that appealing. So he ignored the thought as best he could. "I sleep. I was sleepin' when I was called. And if I didn't think you'd try'n scamper off on me again, I would when we got there too."

Miyako didn't think she could beleive her own ears. How lazy could anyone be!?
"Sleep! You sleep all day?" She had to repeat it for both her own sake, and...well just her own sake. It was enough that he was going to entertain her by reading, but in truth he just wanted to sleep? She huffed, looking away in disbelief. Afterall, she didn't think herself to be bad company at all. If anything, he should've been glad to have a person like her wanting to spend the day with him! And she was half wanting to tell him that.
"Then maybe you should go be quarterback!" Her eyes snapped back to him, glaring coldly. "Let someone else more worthy of my attention do this job!" She sighed loudly, sinking down in the seat. "I'm so bored! Do your job; stop boring meeee!"
Truelly, within the space of a few seconds, she was bored already. And what better to do than explore what the confines of Caden's piece of junk car had to offer? "Hmmm...what is book-worm Caden hiding in here!?" She was beaming, like she'd just found a naughty new game to play, as her eyes fell on the glovebox infront of her. Mischievious digits sought about opening the damn compartment, until she finally figured out how to press the button and pull hard...

Caden chuckled loudly as she repeated what he said. He had no problem with being lazy, it was a Saturday, why the hell not. When he finally found the came to the street he drove in on he wasn't paying much attention to her cold glare, but he did find it quite amusing. "I don't play football. Not to mention, I ain't paid to entertain ya." He shot back calmly. On the main road he sped up, sliding in front of a slowing car and sped up to work his way back home on surface streets.
When driving he was hardly paying attention to her, even when she asked what he was hiding he didn't know. Although he did hear her pull hard on the glove compartment. Before he could warn her that it was packed too full of junk to open right, it already happened. Plastic weave cover had just enough pressure for when she pulled it out that it went through the air, and hit Miayko in the head. The sleeved handgun then fall to her lap, and he simply sighed heavily. "Nosey."

The only sound that followed the snag of the glovebox being roughly pulled open, was that of plastic colliding with Miyako's forehead.
"Itai!!" She shrieked, instantly lifting her hands to the spot where the gun had hit. Obviously, even though it was covered in plastic, it still freakin hurt, a lot. She cringed, hunching over cradling her head for a moment until the pain passed, somewhat. To top it off, Caden didn't even asked if she was alright, and then furthermore, as she looked down, she realised the object that had hit her was a gun...and it was sitting on her damn lap.
"Nadayo! A gun! You have a gun! Wha-you-wha-how!?" Lots of different half-words filtered from her lips rapidly, until she finally got over herself to stare at him, eyes filled with some sort of anger.
"THAT COULD HAVE SHOT ME! YOU COULD HAVE KILLED ME AND ALL YOU SAY IS NOSEY!" Miyako suddenly whacked Caden with the bag again, this time at the side of his face. She didn't care that he was driving, or that the gun was still in her lap. For all she knew, all she cared about, was that it was loaded and could've killed her. "JERK! YOU'RE A BIG JERK!"

Caden didn't need to guess, something flicked out and hit her, was fairly obvious. But that wasn't enough, it had to be the gun he put int he glove box. With a frustrated sigh he turned to explain why it was in the glove box in the first place, and how stupid she was for opening it to hard in the first place. But he didn't get that far. Instead he got whacked in the side of the head with the bag- again. Obscuring his vision and his arm instinctively jerked to the right, driving them across oncoming traffic.
That second of his life took about four years away, convincing him that he was going to die young, very young. Somehow he managed to slam on the breaks before he hit a gasp pump, and instantly threw the cars parking break into place. he spun in rage and smacked her hard int he back of the head with his open palm. "You stupid hag, yer' the one who nearly got yer'self killed!" He snarled harshly and took the gun, jamming it back into the glove box and closing it. "And it ain't my gun. It's a present from yer' father." He said, panting heavily with his rage and adrenaline still rushing through his brain, giving him an instant headache.

The moment the car took a sharp turn, Miyako unleashed a genuinely girly scream at the top of her lungs. For once she was glad she had worn her seatbelt, otherwise the break in the nick of time probably would've sent her flying through the front windshield. It didn't though, instead her body snapped forwards, but the belt snagged her back, leaving just her neck sore. She hadn't meant to cause the accident, and she was about to apologise, once she'd caught her panic-stricken breath. But Caden beat her to it, only, in a way she would never have expected. She shrieked as he whacked the back of her head hard, her hand immediately lifting to the spot he'd hit. Her head hurt already from the gun hitting her, and now both her neck was sore, and the back of her head momentarilly ached. What's worse, he tried to pass the gun off as a gift from her father of all people. Miyako felt sick, not just from that ridiculous comment, but also because of the entire stress.
"Let me out now!" She'd deal with the accusation later, but right now she felt like she couldn't breath. Her hand hastilly undid her seatbelt, and then she turned in her seat to struggle with the doorlock in some sort of panic. "I...I need air, open the door! I SAID OPEN IT!"

Caden looked over and sighed heavily, unlocking and opening the door and moved to pull himself out of his seat, only to be jerked back harshly because he forgot to unbuckle himself. Grunting he blindly fumbled for the buckle and untangled himself, slid around the car slowly rubbing his neck as he watched the mess she caused slowly clear, and the cursing die down. At the passenger side of the car he unlocked it with his keys and opened it up, figuring she was just freaked out by the near-accident.

Miyako sat there, trying to control her unsteady breathing, until the door beside her finally opened. She wasted no time, hurrying to scramble out the vehicle rather clumsilly, her hands finding support along the car framework. Her acting perfect as she feigned weakness, her body trembling as she just seemed to walk, in some sort of daze. Thing was, even with the drone of the shocked drivers behind her as they commented on the accident, she knew exactly what she was doing. The freeway was right ahead of her, the odd car speeding past. She didn't stop though. She didn't look over her shoulder...her feet just kept on walking, quite slowly, to the edge of the pavement. Step by step, her eyes focused ahead, unflinching, even as her feet reached the raised edge of the pavement. But she didn't stop; luckilly there was a momentary break in the traffic, as she stepped down onto the road. The horn of an approaching truck caught her attention, by which time, she was closer to the middle of the road. She had time to move back to safety, but she didn't. Like a frightened animal, Miyako froze on the spot, allowing the truck to loom ever closer. Then, as the driver sounded the horn again, applying his foot to the break possibly a second too late...Miyako seemed to lose consciousness, as she begun to fall...

Cade just watched for a moment as she pulled herself out of the car, looking quite clumsy. She looked weak, and her body was trembling. He was about to ask what she was doing but instead he watched in mild shock as she continued toward the pavement. She couldn't be actually.. She was. His body moved ahead of him just as the truck began to screech it's protest of her being in it's way. His body tensed for a single moment, probably ruining his chances of coming out of it unscathed. His hand grabbed onto her shoulder and spun, throwing her into the grass on the side of the road between the gas station and the road itself. As he watched her land just as pain tore through his shoulder. When his world stopped spinning he was looking at a few droplets of blood on the ground in front of him, outlining his arm that felt like it was burning. He vainly tried to push himself to his feet, but found his shoulder and arm wouldn't respond to him..

Okay...maybe this time, Miyako realised she might've pushed it too far. Sure, her 'hero' managed to save her...barely. There was something genuine in her faint though, though half of it was some, test. A game to see if her so-called bodyguard was really up to parr with her spontaineous actions. The other half, well, truth be told, she somewhat, wanted the truck to hit her. Maybe she'd get some genuine attention from her father if it had, a reaction, anything.
Thing is, Caden passed the test, but now she'd created an even bigger problem. Before she'd even managed to fall, he'd managed to hurl her back onto the grassy sidewalk. But as she fell, she could hear the heavy wheels of the truck attempting to screech to a sudden halt. A woman screamed while a man shouted, other gasped. Miyako wasn't sure what had happened during that short amount of time but, the pieces of the puzzle slowly begun to fit as she rose back onto her feet hastilly. The truck stopped a few feet away, skidmarks burnt by the tyres leaving a trail of evidence along the road. But Miyako wasn't bothered about that, as her rare dark blue eyes widened at something else. Immediately she was rushing over to the still body near the middle of the road, the worst of all thoughts crossing her mind. She was a murderer...her stupid game had killed somebody, just like her last bodyguard had warned her. His words rung through her mind clearly;
'One of these days, Miyako. One of these days...your games, are going to get someone killed. And I won't be there, to take the fall with you.'
Course, she'd laughed at the time, and called him a baka. But no...Caden couldn't be dead! She sunk to her knees beside him, and by that time, her worst fears were eradicated, as he tried to move. Course, she was trembling at the sight of his injury. No...she wasn't a murderer, but she could've crippled him for life! It was, just as bad...and all for a sheer moment of adrenaline.
"D-don't move!" She ordered weakly, finding it hard for her eyes to focus on one thing. He was a bloody mess though, and all she kept thinking about was that it was all her fault. That and, if he was going to be okay? Hastilly, her hands patted her hips to realise she didn't even have her phone on her; no pockets. Hopeless. One of the women from the gas station was running over screaming something about calling 911. A man was running after her, and the truck driver was scrambing out of his truck, looking pretty dazed. All the voices seemed to make no sense to Miyako though. For someone seemingly so intelligent, she was feeling warped, dazed and, really worried.
"H-He's fine," she uttered, not realising she was clinging onto his t-shirt. The man tried to pull her away, but she started to scream her words, probably more to assure herself. "NO!! HE'S GOING TO BE FINE!"

Caden was struggling to make sense of what just happened. He knew he wasn't dead, so he wasn't hit. But he had to have been hit, because pain still scrapped against his bones in his shoulder, and the fire that was burning his arm. His body wouldn't move without protests of pain, but he could turn his head when he heard all the muffled noise around him. Someone was screaming int he distance. But that wasn't enough, he was being pulled, the fire on his arm scorched up his spine as he heard who he believed to be Miayko screaming next. "Don't need to scream, blood hell, I can 'ear ya.." He coughed out, straining to turn his neck so he could see her. "An' stop pullin.. my arm hurts enough."
As he finished with a defeated sigh he could vaguely hear sirens in the background. Although it could just as easily be that he hit his head on top of everything else. Although luckily for him that wasn't the case. He could already hear doors open and the metallic clink of the stretcher being pulled out. The larger of the two came up to him and began to look him over, ascertaining just how injured he was. "Miss, I'll need you to back away so I can get him on the stretcher." He said firmly, the stretcher positioning beside Caden for when he would be lifted up.
