*My own place, no complaints there. I unlocked my door and dragged my bags into the currently empty room. Dorms were simple, a room and a bath. But, that was fine. I prefer things to remain simple.
I did not take much with me so there was little to unpack. As I put away my few books and clothes, I found a small package. From my folks no doubt. My mother sent me some food, she always did worry if I was eating enough. I think all mothers tend to be like that. A 'tch' escapes me as I pick up what my father left me, a note. It was just a reminder to keep training. Keep training? Yeah, love you too dad. Guess there is no reason to be surprised. Father will never change and mother is of course worried though this is much safer than Varron.
I looked towards the other bed, still empty. I almost forgot that another will be coming. Was not sure who to expect or who I really wanted as a room mate. But, could not be that bad. Anyone would be an improvement over my father. I sat down on my bed, not bothering to lock my door as I enjoyed my small bit of freedom.*

“It looks like you’re finally growing up, Tristram.”
Kokaku smiled as he slowly walked through the open door, Leaf had not yet closed it behind him. It actually was a coincident that the two arrived here at the same time, yet the fact that they would both be living here together was not. Kokaku didn’t need a large place to stay so his search for a new living space had been brief. However, he had tried to find out where some of the other students were heading and he was soon informed of Leaf’s choice. Leaf, one of his latest friends, a young student who none the less seemed to possess a great deal of knowledge. Kokaku knew the two could learn each other a great deal. Yet, Leaf had always lived with his parents, this would be the first time he’d be heading out on his own. Kokaku tried to secretly look after the student from the day they became friends and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity to both learn from him and watch over him… and increase their friendship, if Leaf wished it so.
Kokaku noticed the somewhat confused look on Leaf’s face before he continued talking.
“What a coincidence that we meet again… it seems we’re both still alive. I still haven’t thanked you for looking after Kira that night… when I asked you to. I know you’re a person that hates doing nothing when someone like me is in danger… but you did more than I did that night…”
Kokaku suddenly gritted his teeth as he dropped his bag filled with clothing, a weapon and more personal belongings, as a sting of pain went through his body. He slowly fell to down but was able to remain his balance on time. If Leaf had sharp eyes, he would notice that Kokaku’s left shoulder and left upper leg areas were both thicker than the right side. A large amount of bandage was wrapped around these two parts after the bullets were removed. (OOC: Yeah, will be adding that to my bio soon xD) He looked at Leaf with a wry smile.
“I guess you remain the smarter one…”

"Hmph," I began as I turned to face Kokaku, "Since I will be living in something similar come college, might as well see what it was like."
*My eyes glance over the bags Kokaku was carrying. I knew Kokaku was pretty well off, nice car and so forth, so I was not expecting him to be living here as well. But, I was not regretting it in the slightest. Besides a few familiar faces that I managed to spot in Hircine High, Kokaku was the only friend I knew of here. So coincidence or not, I could not ask for a better person to live with.
I did not have much chance to see him after the arson and Varron closing down. Repeating another year as a sophomore put me back at square one but I did not mind, alto has happened. Kokaku gave me a simple task while he fought against the rain of fire and bullets, to check on Kira. I was sure all of them were worried but I am also sure I was given the task to stay away from the bloodshed that occurred at the Edge. But, that was in the past and seems he made it out alive.*
"We both did what we could that night," I reply as I get up to try and keep Kokaku steady, "Easy, seems you did not get out of that trouble completely unscathed. I will help you with your things. Still amazes me how you can get so much trouble. But, I know you are fighting for something you believe in after all."

“Don’t make mistakes now, Leaf. The battle I fought in and got wounded up this badly wasn’t a battle I believed in. Keeping you and Kira away from it… was what I truly believed in. I was at the Edge for a single reason… friendship. I like working at the Edge and I grew to love it, especially when I ran the thing with Kazuki being dead and all… I couldn’t just see it go to waste…”
With the help Leaf offered him, Kokaku slowly moved towards his bed and dropped down on it, making it himself as comfortable as possible. With a nod, thanking his friend, he continued to speak.
“So when I learned about the planned assault, I stayed there… every day. I discussed battle plans with Kazuki and tried to defend it the best way I could, protecting as many friends as possible… but I guess even you know how cocky Kazuki and Maverik can get, even though you hardly know them… so I quickly lost sight of them. I protected Rene the best way I could and escaped… that’s when I noticed the FBI…”
Kokaku’s eyes turned down as he slowly began to close them, thinking about what had occurred that night… the gunfire after his escape, members of the hand waiting for him, FBI shooting at any target… the great explosion behind him… the tears… and the final blackout…
“That’s when I was nearly killed… I managed to survive the hard part without a wound, but outside was more of a hell than you could ever imagine…”
He slowly slammed his back onto the mattress and opened his eyes again, staring at the ceiling.
“I never wished for this, Leaf… I never imagined something like this could become reality… they were students for crying out loud! They died because their leader told them to do so!”
He sighed slowly and remained silent after, waiting for Leaf to respond to what he had just told…

*It did not settle with me any better. I found it difficult for people to have lives revolving around fighting. The thought of students picking up weapons and taking the lives of another was simply insane. That leader was worse than any brute or psycho I encountered. People were free to do as they wish, it was chaos. The FBI, with little options left, took matters in their own hands and nearly took everyone with it.*
"None of us wished it Ko," I said simply, "But those few wished to take advantage of the lack of control and the severe corruption and did what they wanted with it. We did what we could with so little to work with."
*Cheering up, definitely not a skill I had. Varron had no order and the city was not much better. In the end, it was simply that which led to the many disasters that happened in Varron's history. I sat down on my own bed, facing towards Kokaku.*
"It was horrible but, we survived and that is all that matters," I said calmly, "We can continue moving forward with our lives in this new school. The staring eyes are not pleasant. But, everything takes time. Eventually they will realize that we are all students, no matter the school we came from. It will work out."
*Optimism is not my thing either but there were the facts. Hircine High does in fact have order. It has leaders and rules and enforcement. Varron lacked many of these and look where it got it. I pull my long black hair back behind my shoulders as I let out a sigh.*
"Am I becoming easier to find?" I ask, a random thought occurring in my head, "Didn't think a GPS could find my dorm room."
*I pull out the small device Kokaku gave me back in Varron. An alarm and a GPS in one was what I gathered from it. Perhaps I am hopeful but, maybe I will not need to use it again.*

“I have absolutely no idea on that GPS system, Leaf…”
Kokaku responded as Leaf questioned him about their personal GPS system. Of course, Kokaku had the device with him when he was in the edge, but he had left it at his desk and unless the device was explosion proof, there was a large chance that not even after two years of searching, all parts would be found.
“I think you can just throw that away… mine got blasted to smithereens during that attack…”
Kokaku however was finally smiling. Not because of Leaf’s previous words, but about the simple question he asked about him becoming easier to find. He should’ve known better than betting on the fact that Leaf would take it as a coincidence for the two friends to end up on the same room. He didn’t know whether Leaf would specifically want to know how Kokaku found out about it, but if he did, he was welcome to ask him. However, Kokaku thought that deep inside, Leaf was thankful for the fact that Kokaku was around. At least, that was what Kokaku hoped for. Leaf was one of the special cases around, not another cocky bastard trying to gain power or anything. He was simplicity and honesty placed into a person… and specifically that was what made him so special…
Getting back to his feet slowly, Kokaku slowly stumbled towards his bag and opens it up, clearly looking for something. After some searching, he finally found what he was looking for, a small note on which a phone number was written. Smiling wryly, he turned around again and handed it over to Leaf.
“Here, someone asked me if I could give this to you…” Remembering it happened about a month ago, Kokaku silently cursed himself. “Someone asked me to give you her phone number… since she didn’t dare to do so herself… I believe she has been transferred here too… I’m sorry I didn’t give it sooner, but well… with the events that occurred and all… you know…”
Kokaku laughed as he noticed the confusion on Leaf’s eyes, giving him a playful poke and explaining the situation to an extend that for most people would be needless information:
“It’s the phone number of a girl for crying out loud!”

*I shrug slightly as I toss the small GPS onto my bed. He was smiling again at least. As he should, leave the dreading about the past and being dreary to me. I have more experience in such things*
"Maybe I'll take it apart," I said softly, "Will give me something to do."
*I watched as Kokaku stumbled over to his things. This time I remained where I was. He really should not be straining so much. I was confused as I accepted the small note. And as Kokaku explained, I was even more confused. I did not know many girls, especially any who would bother giving me a second look. So confusion was expected, who would give me there phone number? Well...unless it is all just a joke.*
~"It's the phone number of a girl for crying out loud!"~
*I looked at Kokaku with a start, frowning slightly*
"I...I know that," I said, trying to keep some sort of composure, "Umm...who is she?"
*I cannot believe I am actually asking. Who would actually waste their time with someone like me?*

As Leaf ensured Kokaku that he understood perfectly well what Kokaku meant by his earlier statement, Kokaku could no longer keep his cool and fell onto his bed, laughing like he hadn’t done in a while. His wound stung like hell but even that could not prevent Kokaku from laughing for the following few minutes. He knew Leaf would probably get angry at Kokaku for doing so, but if Leaf had been in Kokaku’s shoes, he would’ve done the same thing. It seemed that Leaf had no real experience when it came to women… truth be told, Kokaku wasn’t actually a professional either, but the fact that Leaf was so knocked out of the field by this news was pretty amusing.
“Heck if I knew who she is… she’s pretty cute actually… she was all blushing when she asked me to give you her number, she immediately ran off again so I didn’t have any time to speak with her. She kind of reminded me of someone who was just as good with words as she was…”
His eyes now turned back to Leaf as he was bursting out in laughter once more. It was good to see Leaf again after the last couple of weeks… they had been difficult but it seemed that Leaf always brought back the best in Kokaku… or at least the happiest…
“So, what’re you going to do? Call her?”

"Hmph."
*I frown slightly as Kokaku laughed his lungs out on the bed. Still did not know if this was for real or not and his outburst was not helping. I cross my arms in front of me as I just stared at Kokaku. Guess it's my fault for letting myself be led on like that. Would not be past Ko to pull such a joke on me.
At least my suspicion was answered when Kokaku finally responded to my question. I still found it hard to believe. Not many knew me as I did not do much to bring attention to myself during my final months at Varron. It could have still been a joke by some girls. Some girl asking the one person that knows me to hand me her phone number then run off? Who would do that?
By this time Kokaku was already cracking up about my social skills. This time I looked away as I felt warmth rise to my face. Why am I even thinking about this? She probably has moved on by now.*
~"So, what're you going to do? Call her?"~
"She....probably has moved on by now," I said, trying to keep my voice calm, "It has been weeks after all."
*Should not have let myself get so caught up in this. It has been weeks. She probably would not wait this long for a phone call. If she did, that would make me look even worse. Ugh...I should just drop it.*

“Oh for crying out loud!”
Kokaku suddenly got back to his feet, his facial expression now stern again, his smile had turned into a small one, his eyes fixed upon those of Leaf. It was obvious the student in front of him was somewhat scared of this new development in his life, but he should at least try to embrace it, not throw it away immediately. Kokaku slowly moved towards his friend, every step being a difficult one yet he managed to walk like a normal person, only slower.
“What the hell do you mean? Are you saying you’re not even going to try and call her? Over my dead body mister! I’ve taken bullets, I’ve seen people die in front of my own eyes, for god sake, I have need to see something else than war and pain for a change! Now, do me a favor and show me some love! For that girl that is…”
Kokaku grinned again as he was now a mere foot away from his friend Leaf. He knew he couldn’t force his friend to do such a thing as calling a girl, but he knew it would be a good experience for his friend, and at the same time, he thought it was funny to see his friend mumble words.
“I’m not asking you to do something you don’t want to… but I don’t want you to not try either… why don’t you just give it a try? Perhaps she’s not your type at all, but than it’s still a lesson learned, wouldn’t it? So give her a call man…”

*I was rather shocked with Kokaku's reaction. Maybe due to it seeming completely strange to me about him wanting me to call cause he took bullets and seen others die. I sigh softly. In the end, I bet taking bullets would be less painful than calling that number.
He wanted me to show love. One of many feelings I choose not to express. Much less to a girl I never met or spoke to. Someone like myself would more than likely leave the girl miserable being around me. It is just how I am. I am incapable of such things as dating as I do not know or understand what to do. This is annoying and troublesome. It was easier just not to care.*
"Heh and what do you expect me to say? Hi, I just decided to call you finally?" I said calmly as I brush some of my hair behind my shoulders, "Not sure a girl would like to hear that."
*A faint smile was on my face. The more I thought about, the more it seemed ridiculous that it will get anywhere. I doubt Kokaku was going to leave me alone about it. It would probably be worth a laugh seeing me talk to a girl. Do not think he has seen me speak to that many people in fact.*

“No… you could start by telling the truth. I mean, it was my mistake that you only got her phone number now, not yours. She’ll understand if you explain. I think she’ll be glad you called, cause now all she does is waiting on your call… I doubt she has moved onto another guy during this entire hell situation. So grow some balls and call that girl!”
Kokaku’s smile was still on his face as he spoke to his friend. He knew Leaf was quite unease with the whole situation but he had to give it a try, who knew what would happen if he did. It couldn’t get any worse than a broken hope, something that at the time seemed small compared to broken ribs or the like.
* Phone ringing *
Kokaku’s eyes slowly turned towards his pocket as he both felt and heard his phone ringing. Giving Leaf a small apologizing nod, he slides his hand inside his pocket and answers the call, looking at his screen to find out who’s calling him beforehand.
“Hey Leon, been a while. What you up to? Hmm, say what? In an hour? No… I guess I haven’t watched the time that carefully… Yeah, I’ll be right there.”
Closing his phone his face swiftly turns back to Leaf.
“I forgot about the time but it seems we’re expected in the auditorium in about 1hour from now. It seems this principle guy wants to give us a ‘warm welcome’. Doubt it will be warm… anyway, are you going to call that girl or what?”

*A sigh escapes my lips. He could have gone without such crude phrases as growing balls. This was going to go anything but well, I just knew it. I reach into my pocket and flip my own cell phone. I gaze at the number on the note.*
"Fine," I say softly, "I'll call her."
*I would rather talk to the principle at this point. At least I know what to expect when I talk to someone like that. I knew nothing about this girl or how she even knows me. I began dialing the number off the note as I continue to speak.*
"I don't even know how to start," I said softly, not looking up at Ko.
*I brush my hair back behind my shoulder as I lift the cell to my ear, listening to the rings. I felt like I was waiting to be beaten to the ground.*

Kokaku walked back to his bed before answering Leaf. Turning around and dropping himself onto his bed, he slowly starts to play with his hands, his eyes fixated upon Leaf, his eyebrows raising, saying he didn’t know either. Looking at the combination of confusion, frustration and anger on the face of his friend, Kokaku decided to help him out, after all, this actually was all his doing anyway.
“Well, how about, hello pretty, are you the beauty that gave my friend your number?”
Laughing tears at the sight of even more frustration on Leaf’s face, Kokaku shook his head and eventually turned serious before the girl had picked up her phone.
“Well, for a starters, you might begin by telling her who it is calling… which would mean your full name, Tristram. Though perhaps she only knows you by Leaf, I don’t know…”
Kokaku wasn’t of any real help to Leaf, he knew that too. But fact was that he intended Leaf on pulling this one alone. If his friend was at lost for words, he could always help him out, but for now, Leaf had to follow his feelings… something he wasn’t a star at.
“Just tell her you only just received her number and immediately decided to call her… I believe I heard Hikari say something about girls liking it when guys actually go through some trouble for them…”
During the entire conversation however, Kokaku’s smirk would never leave his face…

*I glare angerly at Kokaku. Guess it was more the 'I hope you burst into flames' or 'You will pay for this' sort of look I gave my friend as he spouted out that flowery sort of phrase. Just as I try to respond, I heard someone pick up on the other side.
At least his second phrase made sense though I had no idea how to go about it. My name, why I'm calling, The second one I had no idea what to say for. Guess I will just go with it I supppose.*
"Umm...hello?" I started, once again trying to keep my voice steady, "Umm...this is Tristram.."
*I hesitate for a moment. It is true that I should give my full name but, if she does not know me as any other name besides Leaf then giving my full name would not matter. I heard Kokaku mention about going through trouble to get to a girl. I was sure I could not be in anymore trouble than this. And Ko's smirking face was not helping. I stood up off the bed and began to walk around the room, keeping the cellphone to my ear.*
"Y-Yeah," I continued as I run my fingers through my hair nervously, "My friend just now remembered to give me your number. My...apologies for not calling sooner. I...seem to be at a loss as he did not give me your name."

* Point of view girl *
The young student looked confused at her friends as a stranger on the phone mentioned his name, Tristram. Without giving a direct response to what he said, she waited for him to continue. It was only after he spoke about how he had gotten her number that a bell started to ring. Leaf was finally calling her… a small red blush appeared on her face as her friends started to giggle at the sight of it, knowing perfectly well who it was, calling her. She gave them an angry look, indicating they had to be silent, before she responded to the young man.
“Oh, it’s you Leaf! I thought you’d never call me! So… your real name is Tristram… I didn’t know… what a cute name!”
“Shut up!” She mumbled to her friends who again couldn’t resist their giggles and laughter. Yet, at that very same time, a somewhat older student next to the one on the other side of the line couldn’t resist his laughter either. She went through her long black hair with her left hand, her phone still to her ear. She wasn’t too sure of what to say, yet giving her name could be something, right?
“Well, that’s because Kokaku doesn’t know me… My name is Kamoku Koibito, just like you, I was a sophomore at Varron Academy… And just like you, I got transferred to Hircine High… So… what happens now?”
The young girl seemed to be a little unease with the situation, cursing herself silently for giving Kokaku the letter containing her phone number. It all seemed so perfect back than, but now, she felt like the silliest person in the world…
* Point of view Kokaku Musha *
Kokaku’s eyes followed Leaf as his friend got up and started to walk in small circles, his words stumbling out his mouth. Of course, Kokaku had recognized the girl as a Varronite, he had seen her at Varron before. He wouldn’t have given her number to Leaf if he had thought it to be a trap. Yet, he had not really trued to find out her name either, that was something for Leaf to find out… waiting on how he would respond to the voice coming from the phone, Kokaku could do nothing but laugh and smile. Today was finally a good day…

*Apparently I was known for my school name rather than my real one, which is no surprise. My cheeks grew warm as she continued. My name was...cute? I made sure I was facing away from Kokaku as I tried to regain some composure. I heard laughter in the background as I heard the girl shout at whoever was with her. Did they know I called as well? Maybe it was all one big joke. Maybe I was making excuses to end this. Well I had already stumbled into whatever this may be, might as well continue.
Kamoku Koibito? Like many other students, this one I did not know of. A sophomore and she was transferred just as I was? What was more confusing was the question she asked. What happens now? How was I suppose to know? I was not the one who handed out a phone number, so confusing. I did not know what was suppose to happen or what to expect from calling this girl.*
"Well..." I began, "Kamoku...since you wanted me to call you....I was hoping you would know that answer."
*Seemed logical in my head. I was not sure what this girl wanted from me. But, I am not one to sweep anyone off their feet.*

It took several seconds for Kokaku to realize what the girl on the other side of the phone had actually asked before Leaf gave her an insecure answer. Upon understanding, he waved nervously at his friend in order to gain his attention, after that signaling he had to put his hand on his phone for a second. Whispering with a solid voice he spoke to his friend:
“You idiot! If she asked you something about whether you wanted to do something, ask her out for lunch after the little speech from our dear new principle! Don’t let her suggest things like that, girls want a guy to do that!”
* Kamoku’s point of view *
“Oh…” the slight disappointment in her voice would probably not be noticeable for Leaf to hear. Inside, she understood that Leaf had no idea why she had given him her number, but that was what she liked about him. He was so new to so many things and every time she saw him walk around in thoughts she couldn’t resist a smile. Though he appeared very wise, it was obvious he lacked knowledge of several aspects of life. She could hear a mumbling voice in the background at Leaf’s and presumed he wasn’t alone either, probably with Kokaku. Waiting for Leaf to get back to her, she took a seat in the bed of grass outside together with her friends. She had been there for an hour or so now, just hanging out with her friends and exploring the new campus area…

~"Oh"~
*Apparently I gave the wrong answer. Not only did I have Kamoku revealing this but Kokaku was beckoning me over. Ask her out for lunch? Why didn't she ask that herself? Something tells me this is going to hurt my head. I do not even know a place to take her. It is a new city. But, since she wants me to ask supposedly, I doubt it matters where we go. Ugh, that just sounds heartless to me.*
"Umm perhaps," I began, "Perhaps we can meet up after the meeting with the new school's principle."
*I would not mind meeting Kamoku. She did go this far just to have me call. I still do not get it in my head. Also, it would get Kokaku to stop staring at me if I do ask to meet her. Ugh, that sounds rude. I know this is not going to go well.*
"I'm sure there is a place where we can find a bite to eat out in the city," I continued, "Haven't had a chance to see what was around here yet."

* Kamoku’s point of view *
“Yeah! That sounds great!” The young girl reacted enthusiastic at Leaf’s request for meeting up with her after the speech of their new principle. Her cheeks became slightly red as she jumped up from the grass, her friends looking at her with great joy. It seemed Leaf had actually asked her to go somewhere with him. Kamoku couldn’t really express her happiness with words, just with feelings. She waited for Leaf to continue speaking before she responded once more.
“Yeah, great idea! Oh this is going to be so great! I mean… erm… I haven’t really seen much of the city either and it would be great to go and check it out with you. I doubt you actually know who I am so I’ll just get your attention… bye now!”
Hanging up her phone, Kamoku’s friends also jumped to their feet and started to dance circles around their friend while singing “Kamoku got a date! Kamoku got a date!” “Stop it!” The young girl yelled at them, yet she was smiling as well and it would take another few minutes for her red cheeks to turn normal again.
“So Kamoku, what did he say?”
* Kokaku’s point of view *
“Heh, you handled that one pretty well lover boy!” Kokaku had risen to his feet and had slammed Leaf on his shoulder with his good arm. “So, are you looking forward to it already or did I just force you into something difficult?” Kokaku knew the answer but he couldn’t help but joke about the situation. Leaf on a date, now there’s something you don’t see all day.
“If you happen to find any good joint, don’t hesitate on sharing it with me, I could always take Hikari there… Anyway, I guess it’s time we head out to the auditorium, your phone call took longer than me taking a shower, and that says something…”
With the same large grin on his face, Kokaku walked out their dorms towards the main building. Soon they would face the one that had supposedly ‘saved’ all of them… Kokaku’s expectation weren’t too high though.
“Let’s just hope this guy isn’t just one of those media fanatics again, desperate to show how he can keep order…”
