“I want into your little ‘tournaments’, or whatever you hold. The time you invest would be finding opponents for me to fight as well as locations; your resources would fall under the same areas. The money comes from holding bets, whether you bet against me or not I don’t care, and I never promised power, but my aggressive instincts will remain non-existent within the school walls, something that will make you look good. As for return, if you bet against me and lose that’s your fault. However, if you bet against my opponent and he wins, then I’ll refund your bet.”
There, Odin had described his idea as best he could, all before arriving at the cashiers counter. He was giving Kurtz a win-win situation, both for Hircine High as well as himself. The only thing Odin had decided to leave out was a more detailed version of his reason, as well as a single rule that he’d want obeyed at all times. Not that it was a demanding rule, or even one that had serious repercussions, just something Odin had to have done before he fought against anyone. If Kurtz was to accept his offer, then Odin would set the rule down, and from there it would be take it or leave it.
Upon reaching the cashiers counter Odin placed his container down, letting the employee take it, counter over the chips, verify to make sure they were from The Halen, and then proceeded to cash out the stalks. Odin had never actually carried around so much cold hard cash before, and the site of his money hitting the counter as it was being counted was incredibly exciting. After the two thousand plus sum was placed down Odin quickly picked it up, folded it over, and slid it inside his front pant pocket, forcing it under his keys as his attention turned back to Kurtz.

Kurtz watched Odin handle his money, and took in the information this slight action gave him. It seemed he was not familiar with handling large sums in actual cash, which considering the amount was not particularly large meant he was probably rather thrifty.
After Odin gathered all his money, Kurtz placed his containers on the counter. He had managed to gather a much larger sum on money, and would be far less capable of carrying all out of the boat.
"If I could get something to hold all this, just take the cost out of the winnings. Whatever will do, though I would prefer a big burlap sack with a dollar symbol on it."
Kurtz turned back to Odin, as it would take some time for the woman to find something to hold the winnings and then count it. The time they would spend here would not stop Kurtz from speaking, however, as they were in the presence of the very people that would be betting on those fights if held.
"An interesting offer, but your not really giving me anything. I hold tournaments in which any student is invited. I could hook you up with a few more underground circuits, but all the rest of your offer I can get myself one way or another."
Kurtz made distinction between any of the offers made, including a docile Odin. Kurtz was one of the key players in the assimilation of Varronites into Hircine, and he was more than confident on his chances right now. He had learned who this person was at least when it came to fighting. Extravagant displays of power and political upheaval were not his cup of tea. No, this one enjoyed a fight for it's own sake, the challenge, the sport, the self-empowerment, and the rest of the stuff Kurtz had before he became bored due to lack of challenges. Now Kurtz got his high on less dangerous methods, but he could understand where his stranger was coming from.
"Well, you've given me an offer, I'll counter it. I can't place bets at my own tournament, bad for business, and any bets I could take advantage of would eventually trickle down to little once you gain clout. I can organize the tournaments though, I'll get you into every circuit in the city with my connections, and at my tournaments I can promise the toughest contenders you can get out of the participants, with a spot among them guaranteed if you so wish to have them. That'll cost me what little money I'll make once you lose your rookie value but I'll take the money loss.
As for my reward for doing all this, I would rather not see any fighting talent you may end up having being wasted on just gambling when it has more uses. As a Varron student your going to get into fights until the Hircines learn to respect you, which will be done by fighting in public. If you become docile it'll just lead to more violence, not less. Now, if your willing to fight so much, why not help me out with some internal problems we are having. You see, most of the problems we are having right now are not actually being caused by the teachers or the Varronites, but by the Hircine students.
Now, our actions will guarantee that we maintain order, but it will help with the process if someone from Varron were to obtain a decent place in our hierarchy. in short, instead of restraining yourself when fights come knocking, I want you to fight back. When your fellow Varronites are being assaulted by the frustrated bully, I want you to save them. Just make sure while doing so people recognize your doing it to preserve order, help with adjustment, and that you are doing and supported in it by the school."
Kurtz was playing in on the key factor he had just learned, that the kid wanted to fight challenging fights. He was going to get a free pass into every tournament and immunity to the rule to fight on school grounds to protect his own classmates. He was not going to start a totalitarian regime or anything, but he was going to be allowed to step in when the system failed. The only thing Kurtz would get was a message to Varron students, that being they could find a place within Hircine, and that they would be safe when they do.

Odin thought over all that Kurtz had to say, it was after all an interesting offer to say the least. The only issue he truly had with it was the public displays of preserving order, it wasn’t his job to maintain the peace, but it was clear that he was being offered exactly what he wished to obtain. All he had to do in return was make himself known inside the walls of Hircine High, thus resulting in what he hoped was going to be a quiet year turning into a messy one.
‘Save them…He makes it sound like the Captain and Pillars are something from a comic book, and if that’s true, then what am I? A sidekick? A lackey… No. I wouldn’t fit under either of those categories, just because I’d be helping with the shift of transfers doesn’t mean that I would be taking any other orders. Then there’s the fights… exactly what I want. Hm, guess the answer is clear then.’
“Your counter-offer seems more then reasonable, most likely your mind is better suited for this type of business. I accept, as long as I only get to face tough contenders. If I’m put into the ring with some wanna-be-tough kid from Hircine High, or any other school, I’ll quickly walk away rather then give him a beating.”
Odin wasn’t quite sure what to do at this point; a verbal agreement had been reached, thus setting the issue to rest. Whether Kurtz wanted to shake hands to signify a ‘partnership’ or something of the sorts was beyond Odin’s comprehension. So as he waited for some form of response he turned his back to the counter, leaning his weight against it’s edge while his focus remained on the Pillar.

"You'll get the toughest....at first I'll check you against a few fighters from outer-school leagues so I can see how you fare, then I'll place you against the best of Hircine unnoticed. If you win you can manage to keep me very well off from people choosing the familiar fighter instead of the new kid. do well enough, and only the best will attract a crowd to your fights. Just agree to fight Hircine students who start causing trouble and I might even let you choose opponents if you gain a rep."
Kurtz extended his hand outward for Odin to shake, signifying an agreement to terms. If he took it, he would get exactly what he wanted, and so would Kurtz. He didn't break the rules once they were made, but he knew exactly what he was getting from this bargain.

“Yeah, I’ll fight the Bullies of your school should they start anything.” Odin’s monotone voice showed a lack of enthusiasm towards beating down on those who weren’t exactly in his path, or understanding what a fair fight was. But it was a price to pay in order to feel the rush of battle while keeping it semi-legitimate. Putting forth his hand he gripped the pillars firmly, keeping his knuckles at a distinct downward angle as to ensure that the scares of his flesh remained out of site.
After a firm shakes he released his grip, simultaneously putting it back into his pocket in order to keep it wrapped around his cash and out of site. With nothing more to say on his part he gave a keen nod toward Kurtz before turning away and making his way to the exit. It was after all getting late in the evening and he planned to do a few laps before heading up to his dorm room.

The cashier returned with Kurtz's winnings, in a complementary case. He took it into his hands and gripped it firmly, mostly out of happiness than out of fear of it being stolen. The evening had indeed been profitable, for many. He had his money and his deal, Odin had his fights, and whoever owned the boat just got the best advertising in the city. Once word got around that Kurtz had actually bothered to discuss business in the establishment, the number of people to arrive later would swell. He walked out with a good deal of money, telling people the cards were fair and that the hosts were relaxed. Someone had just gotten very rich.
Kurtz walked off the boat once it made port, still giddy with how successful tonight had been. Indeed, it seemed his plan for the pillars was indeed a good one. In fact, the Varron students were doing most of the work for them.
