~Ring… Ring… Ring…~ The broad figure that laid with his back to the bedding turn his head to the side and stared at the ringing phone. Beside it was his alarm clock, radiating with the digital numbers 5:04. The lack of a small red dot in the upper left corner told the owner that it was in the AM, and as such early for mostly every student that attended high school. Sitting up he threw his legs over the side of the bed, letting his feet slowly fall onto the carpeted floor before he leaned forward and grabbed the received, holding it loosely against his right ear.
“Hello?” The question that many used every day was once again spoke in direct terms, the tone of its questioner showing no signs of fatigue or early morning cobwebs.
“Hey son, it’s your pa, just calling to see how your first few days of Hircine High have been going.” A rather energetic voice responded to the question, obviously having been up for several hours before making the call.
“Dad, it’s five in the morning. You know there is a time difference right?” The agitation in the young males voice was slim, if even present as he was going to start a jog in less then half an hour.
“Sorry about that, your mother and sisters say ‘hi’…” The conversation broke for a few seconds as either participant had gone silent. The father was waiting for a reply, the son’s intentions unknown. The dead silence continued for a few seconds more until a soft sigh was hear through the receivers end, signally that the son was still listening. “…So, how have things been?”
“Things are going fine so far. I’ve managed to stay out of trouble, at least with the faculty, but have yet to see any signs of my roommate. I’m starting to wonder if I’m in this room alone or not. Oh, and tell Mom and the girls I say ‘Hello’ back, and thank them for the coasters.” It was true, hidden in the depth of his dresser drawer there was a set of coasters with a pair of golden boxing gloves on them. Odin didn’t feel like leaving them out, nor did he wish to use them for hosting any get-together, and so they went unnoticed within the apartment.
“Listen dad,” The young voice cut in through the receiver, breaking any gap of silence that could’ve been used to start up another topic. “ I was about to get ready for a run, so I’m going to have to let you go.” The older man gave no rebuttals for his sons plans, instead said his goodbyes.
“Okay son, enjoy yourself. Talk to you later, love you.”
“I love you too, dad. Good bye.”
Taking the receiver away from his right ear Odin dropped it gently on top of the charger/answering machine before standing up with a big stretch. Half a yawn later and he was over at his dresser, opening the top two drawers and pulling out a pair of shorts and white muscle-shirt. After quickly changing he headed out into the main area, giving a quick glance toward his non-existent roommates closed door, before putting on his sneakers and grabbing his key card and a bottle of water from the fridge door. Leaving his 5th floor apartment Odin decided to take the elevator rather then the sets of stares, thus giving him time to plan out a course for his run.
Stepping inside he pressed the button for the ground floor before standing back against the railing, watching the doors close slowly as he took a swing from his water bottle. He had all but finished screwing on the cap after the elevator started moving again before the doors opened, just one floor down, to let in a group of friends who wore roughly the same apparel of Odin, only to fit their feminine features.
“Ladies.” He stepped to the side with a soft grin, raising his free hand as a wave hello while they entered the steel transport. He gave them their space, noticing one or two looks in his direction, mostly over his physique as he did the same towards them. Soft whisper and smiles were exchanged, a few giggles arose, and then the elevator found it’s destination, opening up to the ground floor of the dormitory. The group of girls exited first, leaving Odin to follow in their path as his eyes lingered down to the group of swaying hips. Despite being a ghost in Varron, his mind was still that of a teenage male, and so his mind was destined to wander from time to time. With the sights of San Francisco all around it made it easier for such times to occur.
After a soft sigh from watching the group of girls jog off in the opposite direction of his planned out route he pushed off on the concrete path, leading him further towards the city. At this time of day he hadn’t expected to many cars on the road or people on the street, and just as he thought there were only a few souls present throughout his entire run. Other then an early morning warm-up and a bit of cardiovascular training, Odin’s run fell sort of anything worth wild, and as such he ended up back in the elevator after an hour and a half. Unfortunately his companions on the way down didn’t head back up with him, but that could be considered something on the plus side, as his body wasn’t quite as fresh as it appeared.
Using his key-card he entered his dorm room, noticing that everything remained the same, even the door leading to the other bedroom. He was still unsure as to whether or not he was sharing this place with another being, making him feel uncomfortable as to whether or not he should buy supplies for more then a week in terms of food. But, whether or not he did have a roommate he still needed a shower, and so he went into the bathroom and stripped down before heading under the cascading droplets of warm water.
Around 7:20am he stepped into the kitchen, tossing his empty water bottle from the counter into a bag of other recyclable bottles before opening the fridge to search for ingredients to make a breakfast suitable for his hunger. After removing five eggs, half a pound of bacon, some left over mashed potatoes, a package of baby carrots, and a container of milk, and a block of cheese, Odin set forth in creating his breakfast. What rose up from these ingredients was nothing sort a vast amount of food, as well as a simply breakfast that would help to keep him energized until lunch. Sitting down at the table he began to eat his scrambled eggs, bacon, mashed potatoes, carrots and milk all while some pots and pans were left in the sink, soaking in a bath of hot water and soap.
Finishing his meal off in record time Odin set forth to his bedroom, finishing getting changed from a housecoat and boxers, into somewhat regular attire. A short-sleeved black shirt dawned over his chest, giving definition to his torso while his blue jeans only gave the slightest of hints to the form of his legs and buttocks. Odin slipped on a different set of runners then earlier that morning and grabbed his wallet, keys, and books before heading out into the hallway. Closing the door behind him he noticed that unlike earlier it was alive with the student body of this dormitory, giving him an unease feeling in the pit of his stomach. Or maybe it was the carrots.
