"I'm finally here." Joey Trueno said as he stood outside the student dorm which had been provided for him by his new school. He was light on luggage due to his rushed departure and only had brought one suitcase along. Walking in, he looked around the large 3-bed room with mixed feelings. He was happy to get away from Varron for a while, but he had heard many roomers about this Hircine High and was feeling some early animosity toward it already. Putting his bags down on the bed closest to the window (claiming it as his own in the process), he wondered if the school would allow both of his hand-picked roommates to room with him. He hadn't seen Alkaiser or Tank since he left Varron and he had no idea what mode of transportation they were taking, nor did he know if they had both chosen to go to this school instead of doing time in prison. Ignoring these minor curiosities, Joey slowly unpacked his clothing while reminiscing about the events that built up to his arrival at this dorm room.
~~~~~FLASHBACK~~~~~
"Why do you need to leave, big man?" Joey's brother Mike asked, looking up at Joey with his big brown eyes. This was Joey's farewell before he left his Varron home and headed for the train station from which he did not plan to come back from. "I just need have to go to school in California for a while, little man." Joey replied as he bent over to pat his little brother on the head.
"Is California far?" Mike asked.
"Yes Mike." Joey answered, "California is very far from Varron. Don't worry though. I will call you and your sister whenever I get the chance. It will be like I never left."
Joey then flashed his little brother a kind smile before giving him a hug. He then walked over to his younger sister and gave her a hug as well. He had already given her a goodbye just before he gave Mike his. Making his way to the front door, he passed by the kitchen where his newly alcohol-free mother sat quietly with her eyes on the table. "I'm off to the train station, Ma." Joey told her softly. They had fought long and hard over if Joey was truly guilty of the crimes which he was accused. She knew as well as he did that he was guilty, no matter how much he tried to tell her otherwise. It was because of this that she silently refused to bid him farewell. "Alright, see you all later then." Joey said, picking up his three suitcases and leaving his apartment.
As he walked out the door, he checked his watch to see what time it was. 'Two Thirty-five!' he thought to himself, very panicked. He had told the taxi to come at two-fifteen, but lost track of time while he was saying his goodbyes. Looking down the road, he just barely saw a glint of a taxi that was very far down his street. "Time to run." was all that was heard as he booked straight for his taxi.
After chasing it as hard as he could, he eventually figured out that he couldn't catch the taxi with all the weight he was carrying in his suitcases. Throwing one of them into a gutter, he gained some speed and began catching up to the vehicle. He went on at this speed for nearly a mile before figuring that the taxi was too far for him to catch at this pace. To compensate for this, he through another suitcase into the gutter. With only one suitcase to weigh him down, it only took a few minutes before he caught the taxi and was able to get in.
Joey- "Hey man I've been chasing you this whole time, how did you not see me?"
Taxi Driver- "I'm sorry, sir. But this is Varron city, all I saw chasing me was a car jacker with extraordinarily large stamina."
Joey- "Ok Ok, just please bring me to the Varron Train Station."
Taxi Driver- "Can do, sir."
Feeling quite proud that he finally got his ride, Joey sat back and closed his eyes for a well deserved rest as the taxi driver started moving again. "That will be $20, sir." The driver said, not 30 seconds later. Opening his eyes and looking out the window, he found himself staring right at the train station entrance. "What! You mean I owe you all that when you didn't even drive me?" Joey growled, letting poison engulf his voice.
"Why yes, sir. You owe me Twenty doll...ugh." was all that the driver ever said again as Joey shoved a small needle into the back of his neck. "You should feel lucky. Your the last person in Varron I will ever kill. What an honor."
And with that, Joey got out of the taxi and headed for the train, a new anticipation for this move filling his veins.
~~~~~END FLASHBACK~~~~~
With his clothing long unpacked, Joey found that he had been going over his last memory of Varron for longer than he thought. "Oh well, no use bothering myself with those memories." He then looked out the window, seeing a relatively peaceful place. He knew it couldn't be long before the city was lost to gangs just as Varron was.
"Hello, San Fransisco. I fear you are in for a major change of authority around here."
