(OOC: This is a training ground for Genaht members ONLY. Should they wish to make posts about training, studying, or just to shoot the shit this is the place to do it.)
Pine was walking through the woods for probably the sixth day in a row looking for the perfect training spot to setup shop. Back at Varron Pine had setup a training camp for Genaht members to improve their physical fitness and fighting skills. It was one of the main reasons Genaht came out so well in gang battles. The simple logic was trained fighters fought better. In truth, with his men training together it also created a bond between the members that carried on into combat. People who were close together tended to fight more fiercely side by side. They were also able to sometimes compensate for the weaknesses of the other individual. If one had a weak left side his friend would be sure to guard that side and fought anyone who came near it. A very Classical combat ideal, where one man was just the same as any other but two working together as one could take on many their number. It also built up a friendly atmosphere of competition between members to see who could do the most push-ups, who could win the most games of chess, who could take down the most enemies in combat, etc.
With his 20/20 hindsight Pine was also able to see where he made his mistakes and what aspects he should exploit to improve on past successes. Considering that Pine did not have the numbers needed to adequately fight the enemy man to man he would have to exploit as much as possible. Instead of members in teams, Pine would have to train men into sections of eight members a piece. Out of 45 men that worked out to five sections of eight men and a sixth section of five. Of course the last section would be under Pine's direct command as they were his most trusted five. Each of them when the battle came would take a section and move off into the fray. If they were trained together on the larger scale then following past findings they should be able to fight off many their number by working as a team. If they were all up to around the same skill level with different weaknesses the fight should go smoothly in Pine's favor. What he did not have in numbers he would have to make up in skill.
The first thing he had to do was find an adequate place to setup shop. Of course after six days he was beginning to believe that finding such a place would be hard to do. Still, he hoped he was wrong about that and would find a place to setup shop and begin training his men. It so happened Pine found a place accidentally when he took a tumble down a rather steep hill. Upon reaching the bottom Pine found himself in a clearing with thick bush on three sides and the hill on the fourth.
After regaining composure (once the world stopped spinning) Pine got up, dusted himself off, and began to inspect the area. The ground was rather flat, the trees were close together but far enough apart to pitch tents, the trees and not so small hill were perfect weather barriers yet there was no stream anywhere to be seen. This meant that unlike at Varron, his men could not spend a week at a time training. Yet, it would have to do. So Pine marked the co-ordinates into his GPS and left.
The area was setup. There was a meal tent, tents to sleep in, plenty of stored water and training equipment. You could hear the chorus of voices yelling in unison as they counted out push-ups. Most of these members had been training for at least three months here and Pine had the belief that they would serve well against Paragon. He was there, in the push-up position facing everyone a small smile on his face. Many of them were starting to catch up to his level of physical fitness and not tiring as easy.
"So then shall we do more or stop?" His voice roared over the crowed.
"MORE!!!" Was the reply the group roared back causing his smile to grow.
Pine would have pushed everyone of them to 100 push-ups and watched them all collapse. He could have worked them until they could no longer get up off the ground to move. The only problem was that if he did that, he in turn, would not have enough energy by the time he got home for the girl he loved. In his mind that was an unacceptable trade.
"FUCK YOU! I'm getting tired we're going to RETIRE!" With the last roar everyone got up and shook out their arms. They knew training was done for the day and they could leave the woods. Pine watched them all go, each one he knew by face and by name. He knew a little about each member that set foot in the clearing because a good leader knew his men. A good leader trained with his men. A good leader made sure he led by example.
