Anime Expo 2008 - Downtown LAUploaded thus far are Days 1-3 and I plan to upload Day 4 and TONS of recorded footage soon~♪ There's soooo much for me to say, but I'll start with a few things. I firmly believe that I look drunk or high in most of the pictures I'm in. I cosplayed as Sho Minamimoto on Days 1-3 and Shippuden Ten-Ten on Day 4. Cosplaying makes me happy~♪ Especially when folks encourage me to act in character... [Sho]: "YOU ZETTA SONS OF DIGITS!! It's ART. WHERE'S YOUR BEAUTY?! SO ZETTA SLOW!!" // "I'll be your constant coefficient~♥" [Ten-Ten]: "Go ahead, ignore me... I'm used to it..." I have the luck of the devil, as many would call it. I sat in the front row, directly in front of David Hayter in a chance voice acting panel. David Hayter is best known as Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series... He's so cool... A lot of other crazy awesome things happened too (I'm going to be in a Funimation web podcast this Monday), with only several miffy blah stuffs that tried to weigh me down. Tried to. So yeah, lots of con stories in which only a few were captured in digital~

That's a lot of pictures. Oh, and you looked good in your costume by the way, good job. I didn't know "cosplaying" was pronounced that way... I always pronounced the "cos" like the "cos" in "cosine." (yes your avi on MSN gave me the example xD) But, yeah. I'm glad people finally appreciated the Ouran HS host club anime; ever since I saw it last year or two I thought it was an amazing show. After watching that FUNimation is in charge, i know I won't be disappointed, since I think they did a fantastic job on "fixing" BECK. And as a side note, Greg Ayres (the dude who said he was playing one of the twins) acted Koyuki in BECK, which is this kid in my old signature. I can't wait to see your day four pics. ~Manuel

I may seriously go as brandon heat (I don't know at which point, street fighter, mafia man, hitman. Probably hitman because I now have the glasses for it) for NYAF. My friend got up an artist's table that I'm helping out.

Leon should lock this thread because it contains photos and they are not art.

LOL.
I'm amazed/amused. I guess your vendettas never disappear. But, we'll just have to see.
I just regret that this is spam.

; If this thread shouldn't be here, the least that can be done is have it moved to the OOC instead of locking it... Uploaded and edited into the second post is my favorite skit from Chibi Masquerade starring a whole team of Digimon cosplayers~ I was in the front row, so expect stuff to be beyond my range of vision. I loved the whole thing, but my favorite part is Joe's finale~ô If you want to see a higher quality version, head over to the real YouTube link where you'll see other people's camera angles as well.

Leon should lock this thread because it contains photos and they are not art. My Sham-Sarcasm detector is going off like crazy here. If he thought it was worth locking in all honesty, he'd lock it himself. You're fine where you are, Val, don't worry 'bout a thing.

Blah. Instead of making an entirely new thread, I just reused an old one. I still ought to find a day to edit together a bunch of recorded material... Until then, I recently went to an anime convention at CSUN called MikomiCon. I already have a personal review about it written up elsewhere, so there's no need for me to do much commentary. I only attended Day 2 and 3 and only took pictures of Day 2. I'll just say so now that it's a small con and while I met some awesome guests of honor there and there're LOTS of great cosplayers, I wasn't able to catch them all. MikomiCon 2008 - Day 2 PicturesIn one of the pictures, you'll find Kyle Hebert in line waiting for Rob Paulsen's autograph. Kyle is known for his announcer voice in "Dragon Ball Z", Kamina in "Gurren Lagann", and Aizen in "Bleach". He's also Ryu in the next Street Fighter game. I ate lunch and dinner with Kyle and he's a very friendly individual and great to get along with. Rob Paulsen - Yakko's World [LIVE KARAOKE]The karaoke subtitles are easier to see in "High Quality". By the way, Rob is known for his roles as Yakko (Animaniacs), Pinky (Pinky and the Brain), and Carl (Jimmy Neutron) among other American cartoons. He's a really sweet guy who loves his job~♪

I'm betting ten bucks that was you laughing at the VERY end (after the guy says 'THIS IS SO GOING ON YOUTUBE).
Still, gotta love Rob Paulsen. That song is so much fun that even as a 23-year old man I still clap my hands to myself and sing along.
Kudos, Kim, you really made my day with that clip, honestly. Thank you.

=P ::holds hand out for $10:: The person laughing was my friend (Rina-chan) to my right. I was the one with the YouTube quote.
x3 And I ♥ Rob~♪ When it was my turn for him to autograph my badge, I got really shy and he poof'd into Yakko mode to get me out of fangirl paralysis. Rina-chan said that I blushed when he said "Helloooooooooo nurse!"
=D I got a hug too.
::grooves to songs from "Animaniacs"~::

Anime LA - 2009Days 1 and 2, since I'm too tired and sick to attend the last day (caught a cold). Overall, I had a pretty great time though~ Checked out VA panels and other interesting panels when some of the stuff got a smidge redundant. (I ♥ Keith Silverstein, Derek Stephen Prince, and Patrick Seitz especially~) It was tough getting the right lighting for most of the indoor shots on Day 1, but you may notice that the pictures are better later on~ Outdoors = Best Lighting; Environment (though cold). I also recorded neato footage of martial arts and stunt fighting. Wondering if I should upload it...

=P When I said other panels, I meant there are other panels and workshops at anime conventions that go beyond anime... Like art stuff (animation, portfolios, etcetera), origami, model building, glowsticking (I STILL NEED TO CHECK THIS ONE OUT), and martial arts/stunts. Of course, I usually check the VAing panels, but I finally got the chance to check out Team Lift's eXtreme Martial Arts panel. Recorded some clips too~ The Basic IdeaMartial arts choreography and such~ AKA: Pikachu versus Ninja There was a story prior to this recording where Pikachu (Anton) and the Ninja (forgot name) were practicing and the Ninja turned his face the wrong way... And Pikachu broke Ninja's nose, thus the running gag throughout the panel. "You Killed Pikachu!"Here, they demonstrating how the right moves can make someone appear more powerful than they are. AKA: My sister sends Pikachu flying... I'm just a few inches taller than her... The Unnecessary StuffJust because it looks good doesn't mean it's always practical... AKA: I'm made of fail. I volunteered to try learning the unnecessary kick. Pikachu sent me flying... If that video of me ever gets uploaded, you'll immediately lose faith in my ability to jump. xx; <--- took katana, archery, and ballroom lessons and none of those encouraged jumping, as opposed to the hand-to-hand combat background her younger sister got "Stop Kicking My Knee!"After a couple minutes of devising, the team displays an improvised fight. They also share some more examples of how the knowledge of martial arts can go a long way and a story about a chair. AKA: I wanna start kicking people in the knee now... "That's a Lot of Nuts!"Wondering if they really have fighting experience? Someone from the audience challenged Pikachu to a spar and they went at it. You be the judge. AKA: Pikachu versus Random-Con-Goer-With-Martial-Arts-Backgr ound =P <--- gets giggly and squee with her sister around cute martial artists, as you can hear in practically all the clips

I think I recognize Pikachu as a student of Mike Chat (creator of XMA). He did a demonstrating with Mike Chat at one of my MA conferences a few years back in Vegas.
I'm glad he pointed things out like how most of it isn't usually applicable in a street fight since most hardcore anime fans don't really understand that (no offense to those of you on here.)
As for the spar, it was like mixing Point fighting with jujitsu. Weird.
