Nobu's fist hit nothing but air, his target quickly pulled out of harm's way and shoved into safety. Following the punch he bent his knees a bit, lowering his position as he brought his right hand back into guard. Though he was aware of the incoming strike, Nobu did nothing to defend against it as the blonde girl's fist crashed into the side of his face instead of its intended target due to his lowered position. The Japanese student's head was thrown to the side from the force of the blow, his long, dark locks making the motion all the more dramatic. A small amount of blood trickled from his lips, and Nobu gave the girl a timid, almost unnoticeable smile before wiping it off with the back of his hand.
As soon as the other blonde grabbed him by the shoulders and spun him around to face him, Nobu quickly knocked his arms away and stepped back, only half-aware of what the other student was saying. Nobu understood English well and all, but not if someone was babbling or speaking too fast. The Japanese youth stared lazily at the American's moving lips, waiting for him to finish before getting in a word of his own. "You talk too much. And too loudly." Brushing some strands of hair from his face, Nobu let out a sigh as he crossed his arms across his chest, looking back and forth between the two blondes with his brilliant hazel eyes. The scrawny student was forgotten, and Nobu began to think.
Out of the few people I've met, most of them have been blonde; guess that's America for you...

Valerie's backhand connected and though it wasn't with her intended target, it still got the point across. Objective reached... Or so she thought. Instead of watching over Matt as Spider said he would and even when she gave him implicit permission (or orders, rather) for him to do so, he instead grabbed Nobu and hollered into his face. The blonde scoffed at the sight and shook her head, obviously agreeing with the stranger's comment about Spider doing the talk more than the walk. She lifted her shoulders as if to shrug and felt the need to exert her superiority once more.
[VALERIE]: “So unprofessional. While Vibrance speaks too little, you speak too much. Whatever happened to watching over your... 'Friend' here instead of shooting your mouth off? Be glad that some people around here know what they're doing.”
Matt was watching all this, shivering like a blob of jello. He was really confused by everything happening around him and it wasn't hard to see why. He was trying to take things in slowly during his shock, but Valerie felt little need to waste time when her competitive nature was at work.
[VALERIE]: “You--”
[MATT]: “EEP!”
[VALERIE]: “--What were you expecting when you wanted help? Just a bodyguard or do you want shelter as well? Just so you know, it's going to be hard for you to live anywhere from now on with all this news going around. With just as little proof to say that you murdered someone, there's just as little evidence to disprove it.”
Matt looked like he was about to cry, but a sharp glance from Valerie convinced him to hold back the waterworks. He gave Spider a pleading look and was deathly afraid of making eye contact with Nobu, the person who might attack him at any given moment for all he knew. The locksmith checked if the two bodies were still unconscious and to his relief, they still were. He was about to keep observing his environment when Valerie brought him back to earth with a sharp kick.
[VALERIE]: “Well?!”
[MATT]: “I-I don't know, M-Mi-Mimic. I really don't know... I don't want to g-get hurt... Tha-that's all--”
[VALERIE]: “Fine, I will come up with something for you, moron. In exchange for your services, I will babysit you for a while. I want two keys, one for Hircine and the other for Cartford. If you have anywhere important you want to go, I will escort you... You do have somewhere important to go to, don't you?”
The Cartford locksmith was at a loss for words and forced a comforting grin, which compelled Valerie to kick the easily frightened Matt. Amidst his desperate whining and yelping, he agreed to Valerie's terms and tried to think about a safe location free of would-be attackers. Once more, he looked to Spider for assistance and shied away should his eyes catch sight of Nobu.

Spider faced the man, then as he brushed him off he said, "Good, I'm glad you can understand the concept of protecting the weak.
"And I may be loud, and I may talk a lot, but I've gotten the job done. I have kept both of you from hurting me and the people I protect without throwing a punch. And I have found out much more than you about this situation by simple speech. Even if it is loud." The journalist said, smiling.
He then turned toward Matt, and saying loudly, "He can stay with me. I just moved here, and have room enough for him. Nobody will know he lives there. I can protect you, Matt. Well enough anyway. It's up to you. You can be protected by her and live with me, or be protected by her and live with me or be protected by her and live wherever she wants you too. Either way you will have a safe place to be. All I'll want is some answers. You won't have to make anything for me, if you don't want to."
He waited for Matt to respond, and scowled when Mimic hit him.
He set himself and thought 'If this gets ugly, will that kid join me or her? Either way it'll be interesting...'

Much to Matt's relief, Spider came up with a resolution to spare the locksmith from further painful promptings. Before another one of Valerie's kicks could connect, Matt scrambled closer towards Spider and away from Valerie as he could—perfect example of the donkey, whip, and carrot scenario.
[MATT]: “W-where DO you l-li-live? It's not-not far away, is it? I have business partners at Cartford and Hircine especially and I tend to c-come and go as a I please... A lot.”
[VALERIE]: “If it isn't within walking distance from where we are now, which is right in the middle, it's too far—”
[MATT]: “W-what answers do you want?”
Clear and plainly, Matt saw Spider as a lifeline and his desperation even pushed aside Valerie's attempt to shoot his offer down. Besides, the locksmith happened to like how cheap this deal was compared to Valerie's demands. While Valerie's services are as great as its price tag, information was usually a lot cheaper than making a specialized lock. But, before Spider could ask anything, he had to make sure that the walls didn't have ears. The fallen bodies were still out, but who the heck was Nobu? The scrawny locksmith pointed at the Asian...
[MATT]: “W-what school do you go to? C-can you keep secrets well?”
It was really weird to ask the person who could've mauled him earlier, but hey, at least he's not hostile right now, right?

Spider looked at the kid as he crawled toward him, and his heart swelled with pity. He bent forward and offered the kid his hand, saying "I live within walking distance of here. I was on my way there when I ran into him. I attend Hircine, so I have to be within walking distance of that. As for Cartford, I don't know, but it's safe to say you can get there. You can come and go as you please, but I can't guarantee my going with you to protect you if you disappear."
He watched as the locksmith asked the other kid if he could keep a secret. He smiled and added "You can tell me when we get to my place. I just want some straight answers."
He looked toward Valerie, and thought 'Moment of truth. Will she interfere...'

((OOC: At this point, I'm going to hiss in Nobu's general direction.))
Matt felt a surge of relief when Spider offered his hand and suggested that they go to a private location to talk. He was helped onto his feet and though one would've expected him to stand straight, he stood in his signature slouched posture. He didn't have to worry about the young man that nearly nailed him earlier and he was going to have a sanctuary in a matter of moments. He nodded fervently as Spider explained himself and knew the risks of living with a stranger. He kept nodding away like a bobble head and turned his gaze to Valerie. Her steely eyes prompted him to quit the mindless action. He looked down the the blonde female supplied Spider with her answer.
[VALERIE]: “I have every right to know about this location and 'secret'. As someone who will personally watch over this... Person, it is only customary that I give him my best services in exchange for his. I don't overlook details.”
With that, she flipped her hair, seemingly hinting her impatience like how a lioness flicks her tail. Matt flinched and moved closer to Spider, enough to violate most people's personal space and to mean that it was best to get going to the haven.
[MATT]: “I-if it's okay with you if she...?”
Clearly, Matt'd like all the protection he could get.

Spider looked Valerie up and down. Her gaze was steely, and dangerous. Normally he wouldn't mind having a girl as attractive as her to his place, but in all honesty, everything about this girl screamed "DANGER! DANGER! GET THE FUCK OUT! DO NOT FUCKING TOUCH! RUN! RUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!"
'Well...this puts me in a bit of a bind. I'm only going to ask him for details about what happened, but obviously she won't believe me if I say that. I desperately do not want her at my place of residence, especially with all the controversy that seems to be surrounding this boy...' The journalist thought.
"Fuck," he murmured quietly to himself.
"As much as I'd love your company, I'm not sure my apartment would be the best place for you, Valerie, as interesting as you living with me would be. You're welcome to know my address, and if Matt requests your escort somewhere, you're welcome to meet him somewhere. But my home would probably not be the best place for you." He said, shrugging slightly.
After a pause he added "As for the "secret", I'm only going to ask him for a detailed explanation of what really happened. You can ask him what he said later, but I want unfettered access to him. And short of living with me there is no conceivable way you can keep me from getting the answers I want. So beyond that its up to you..."

Someone here clearly got the wrong idea and Valerie wasn't the sort to let the thoughts sink in. She didn't hesitate for a second when she slapped Spider right across the face after he finished his say. The blonde flipped her hair and crossed her arms as she contained her fuming. She gave Spider an incredulous look as Matt kept to himself in fear of further provoking her rage.
[VALERIE]: “What the HELL gave you the idea that I was going to stay with you? Implying that I can't handle myself is an insult I don't take lightly, but I'm feeling nice today. I just want to know the location at the very least and as for information, I can get it later. You cooperating would've made my work easier. And if you want to be useful, make yourself lively and GET GOING ALREADY.”
Valerie bears a strange resemblance to a certain whip-wielding prosecutor of some renown. Matt began to shake and only then was it extremely obvious that he was literally hanging off of Spider's shoulder. Spider might be needing a bath sometime soon after all the times the locksmith laid his grimy mitts on him.

((You can post one more to finish this one up. I'll PM you about a followup...))
Spider grinned all the wider after she hit him. His cheek stung, and Valerie was obviously quite strong. Damien's head, however, did not turn in the slightest. 'Ohhhhh she's pissed...maybe I misconstrued something she said, but either way, this is fucking hysterical.' He thought as she ranted at him.
"You said you were going to be personally watching over dearest Matt, and since he is going to be at my apartment, It would seem that you would be going with us. Maybe it was my wishful thinking that such an amazing woman would deign to accompany one so lowly as myself." He straightened, still grinning, sarcasm bleeding from the final sentence. His gaze bored into her, telling her that no matter how pissed off, violent, or batshit fucking crazy she got, she could not cow him.
'You may be pretty, you may be powerful, you may be mean, but Fuck you. I'm the King of Bastards little girl, so fuck off.' He thought, as he stared her down.
Matt withered in her gaze and was quite literally limp, and Spider's shoulder was the only thing keeping him standing up. 'Poor bastard' He though, 'Somebody must've really done a number on him...'
Still, Spider stood stoic, and gazed at Valerie, adding "I think I'll save you the trouble of finding out where I live, and as for the information, Matt can either tell you or not tell you. But it would best for us both if you didn't harm him..." He let the implied threat hang for a moment, and then hoisted the limp boy up beside him and said "Come on man, let's go get some food in you..."
And with that he turned, still supporting Matt, and walked away...

While Spider showed that he wasn't the sort to be pushed around by the likes of Valerie, the stuntwoman wasn't the sort to bluff when it came to intimidation. She stared right back at Spider's face as he kept yammering on in attempt to scathe her ego with sarcasm. The longer he talked, the more he wasted her time and lost her interest. She only kept her eyes on him because he tried to set the line and she clearly questioned if his bark was anything like his bite. Valerie was leagues above the Hircine student Spider pummeled earlier. Spider eventually got to the point and Valerie had to scoff when an inkling of a threat snuck into his final statement. She tapped her foot to further imply her impatience. She was willing to refrain from kicking Matt for a moment because she'd never hear the end of it if she did—not because she was frightened of the threat. Matt's spirits lifted when Spider mentioned food and as they left for the apartment, the locksmith was like a stray dog on his way to a new home as a lioness tagged along on their heels.
((OOC: End thread, as I would assume.))
