Cyborgs are technically cybernetic organisms, consisting of organic and synthetic parts. So in example, if your girlfriend loses an arm in an accident and she gets a robotic arm, in definition, she became a cyborg. We already have lots of cyborgs out there, but they aren't classified as such because it "just ain't right". ::coughs:: Even Edward Elric is a cyborg by definition. So to get the definitions straight, at least from what I know: Robot: All machine, but used encompassingly because it's sometimes interchangeable with the term "android". Android: Completely artificial, but looks like a living being (ex: human). Cyborg: Half machine, half living being. Overall, to me people can do as they please as long as they don't impede upon my own values. I'm friends with lots of homosexuals, religious folks, and other loonies, so I'm fine with them as long as they don't try to convert me. I think anyone can relate on that level. But I am still probably going to have a hard time taking this in with love concerned. It's easy to fall into long-distance relationships because you know that someone alive and human is typing them up on the other end. Falling in love with something programmed is like taking (borderline obsessive) fangirl/boy-ing to another level with a dating sim. Probably pretty darned convincing, but it just isn't the same once you think about it unless something gets figured out... And that's only when you figure out that the "person" typing to you on the other end is an AI'd program... And when you begin comparing that situation to those awkward times when your friend reveals to you that he has a 6th toe on his foot or that your friend of the same gender has affectionate interest in you. It takes some digesting until acceptance of some kind is reached. Maybe the folks who love robots on the affectionate level simply digested things earlier than the rest. xx; <--- can't read enough sci-fi shojo-stuff to toss into the mix By definition, I'm a cyborg too. I use robotic parts to sustain life. Does that make it wrong when boning? I'm Christian, but I don't take everything the Church does at face value. I'm cool with gays, though I still think it should be established as Joint Union rather than Marriage, but whatever. As for sex with robots, really, isn't it the same as marrying a really advanced dildo? In the end, its just a sex toy in my eyes. If that's what you're into have a field day, but whats the point of marrying it, really?

I agree with that.
But if people want to do that... So let them.
My opinions shouldn't shape their life after all.

I can see benefits in this too. If people can learn to interact with machines, maybe it will work in the opposite way and we can learn to stop being so reliant on technology. Yeah, I think that's entirely possible.
It would be interesting if they could make a gay robot. I highly support gay rights and marriage (I have a relative who is gay), so if people learned to interact with gay machines, which technically aren't human but still act human, maybe we'll start respecting real gay people more. So perhaps there are benefits to this whole robot/human sex thing after all.
Oh and Darren? I address Shamino as san because I respect him as one of the most dangerous fighters on the board. True, I've never even posted with him (I don't think it would be appropriate for me to post with him), but hey, it's just one of my eccentricities, okay?

I also have NO idea what you're getting at here. If we have sex with robots, we'll lean away from technology? Getting off technology is different than getting off on technology. I'm not even going to comment on the gay robots.

I'm gonna need more details on the gay robot argument too, since I see no need to "train myself" for interacting with homosexuals in the first place. They are human beings, they're not aliens or freaks.

I just thought of something, if this all happens, one of the most well paying jobs ever could become a reality: Robot Pimps! Quickly Auroth to the pimp-mo-copter i have an idea. *Batman theme plays* Anyway, as for the Robot-fucking thing... I believe that marriage should be with one you love, be it the same sex, opposite sex, or even with your dog... Who you fuck is your own business, and again, it could be someone you love, your dog, or your hand... But I'm not willing to fuck a washing machine...

Your more willing to have sex with Mans best friend then a toy build for the exact reason of giving pleasure?
What the fuck is wrong with you?

I'm not willing to do either ><
But since the robot was the main topic, I chose that one, the dog was just an example...
I LOVE DOGS, but not in that way

Okay, honestly, I think this is more than enough. We've seen arguments reworded half a dozen times, strayed off subject, and had a good bit flame and spam. Now that we've strode into gay marriage and bestiality, I think it would be a good time to either get a hold of the conversation, or stop it all together.

That'll be John's call. Its his thread and he's a mod, so itll be up to him. Since he's continuing as things are, I'm goin to assume he's allowing the discussion to free flow since its still deriving from the same original topic.

See what you did Dante?
Okay! Back on subject.
Somehow I am deeply reminded of the show Battle Star Galactica from this thread. For those of you who are unfamiliar with what I'm trying to say - yes you Dante- There are many robots who look exactly like normal people, they even act and respond just like them, the female ones (Who are OBVIOUSLY all gorgeous and have sex waaay too many times in the series) end up getting pregnant, now there is NO WAY we can get these robots pregnant, but if these things become reality, I can see people totally forgetting humans, and say:
"Well shit! Why the hell would I need to bother trying to get a date when I can by a date and then keep it and date it whenever I want!"
This can help our problems with Population, but also can effect human sociality, and I mean what comes after sex bots? We can have people in the government as Robots, hell, if this continues to get better and better Humans could become useless, robots outdoing them.
(wow, SciFi does stuff to ya', huh Valencia?)

Well this really has nothing to do with Robot sex or anything, but I find it funny how all of this crazy shit is supposed to be established in the year 2050. Sony says that in the year 2050 they will be able to send our concious into a video game so that we can literally live in a video game. Now I, personally, think that would be fun as hell if they actually got it to where you could actually come back out of the game. I don't think that robots should be anything more than things that build stuff for us, but the way our society is going I doubt it will stay that way. If people actually need to make/get a robotic partner than they are simply pathetic. In my opinion you can compare sex robots to dildos like Tyler said, but I put them in the same area as Hentai. Most people find it wrong, but it will still exist.

I think Hentai is the same level as Porn. Meaning that they're both A-okay.
After all, hentai is all about fantasy ;]

That's a bit far in the future, don't you think Martin? The sex-bots they create in OUR lifetime are probably not going to have much personality or emotion. If a robot was to serve in the government, we would need to develop technology that could think and reason on it's own (ala Megaman X, among other things). Of course when we do that, we should be EXTREMELY CAREFUL to create a conscience program so the robots don't go berserk like the Mavericks/Terminators/other "evil A.I.s" did. And even if they did, they probably wouldn't be able to create that kind of technology in our lifetime.
For now, let's just be content with regular sex-bots. Maybe they can make the robot move on it's own, but I highly doubt they will be able to make a personality chip equal to that of a human. And besides: given how much most people enjoy raw sex, who is gonna care about whether the robot has a personality in this time period?
