Alright, shmucks and shmuckettes. Some of you may be old enough to remember that I attempted to organize an alternative to the old Varron tournaments, a way for people to always be fighting and stuff throughout the year, rather than just once every two months. It was the Fighter's League, or the Edge League, or sometimes just called the Fight Club. For those of who you are new this time around, don't worry, you didn't miss much. I tried to do too much with it, it didn't take off too well, but the premise was great and people were into it.
Anyway, I've revised the rules, made it much more professional/streamlined, and I've got the go ahead to set it up once again! So, without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, THE NEW FIGHTER'S LEAGUE TOURNAMENT!!! (Rules)
1. All Entrants must sign a waiver and a release form, which they can pick up at Legion.
2. Potential fighters of all ages, genders, and races may apply, though the Fighter’s League administration reserves the right to deny anyone if they deem them unfit for any particular reason; which they are not required to inform you of.
3. Once you are signed in, you will wait for correspondence. This will likely come in the form of a text message, though it can take the form of any media, be it a phone call, mail, or email. Potential fighters will be required to list all available sources of information.
4. Seeing as this is a brand new Fighter’s League, previous registrants have not been carried over. If you wish to fight in the League but did not sign up for the old one, you may. If you fought in the old one and wish to fight again, you must sign up again.
1. All fighters fight at their own risk, the proprietors of Legion and the administrative officials of the Fighter’s League will assume no responsibility for any injuries that occur during, or as a result of, a Fighter’s League bout.
2. Combat will take place in whatever area of town, at whatever time the fighter is informed of. It is advised to arrive at your location a bit early, just to make sure. If the fighter does not appear at the location within ten minutes of the allotted time, he is given a Disqualification and no points will be added to his record.
3. Unlike the previous League, these fights are strictly physical competitions. No outside weapons are allowed, and no impromptu weapons are allowed either. Fighters should know that they are being watched, and any attempt at using a weapon of any sort WILL be noticed, and WILL result in a Disqualification.
4. Other than no weapons, there are no other rules to combat. Low-blows, eye gouges and cheap shots are allowed, though, depending on your judge (see judging) may not be approved of.
5. If a competitor is knocked out beyond ability to get back up, verbally gives up, or is declared the loser by the mystery judge after a certain period of time, he is given a Loss. A Loss still achieves a small amount of points.
6. If a competitor attempts to leave the fighting grounds, he will be Disqualified. There is no set limits to the fighting grounds, once again, it is up to the discretion of the mystery judge.
1. Each battle will be watched over by a ‘mystery judge.’ This person could be anyone, he or she could be watching the battle personally, or from afar via a monitor. They will serve primarily as a judge for deciding a battle if the outcome is unclear after a set amount of time, but will secondarily work as a pseudo referee, looking for actions that break the rules, with which they will rule a Disqualification.
2. The judges word is final. He or she may converse with others and attain a panel vote, however, in the end, whatever the Judge calls, is the outcome of the match. Points will then be distributed as needed.
3. The judge may choose to present themselves to the fighters before, during, or after the match, or they may choose not to do so at all. A judge may judge the same fighter multiple times, even more than once in a row. All mystery judges will be chosen at random, and there are no guarantees that one will see or be judged by all of the available mystery judges.
4. A Fighter’s League fighter may apply to become a judge, however, they may also be denied the right for that very reason. Any participant who is also accepted as a judge will, clearly, never be responsible for their own matches, and will also be watched over closely by the Fighter’s League administration. These judges are the exception to the “Judges word is final,” rule, and may be revoked by the Administration if it has sufficient belief that the Participant/Judge is attempting to skew the results in a way beneficial to himself.
1. A scoring system is instituted to determine the winner of each season of the League. Every participant starts with zero points. The points are as follows:
(It should be noted that Judges, while allowed to call a draw, are highly suggested to find a winner.)
2. The season will continue for a series of four months. (OOC: Up to change!) New registrants will always be taken; however, if a season has begun, and someone has already acquired fifteen points, the new registrant will immediately be bumped back to the next season. If a new registrant enters and no one has yet achieved fifteen points, the new registrant is given the option of joining the current season or waiting. The registrant should make this choice knowing that they will be starting late, and will not get any free points or matches because of this fact, and thus joins late at their own risk.
3. At the end of four months, whoever has the most points accrued will be given the titles of “Points Champion.” Meanwhile, the top eight scoring fighters, Points Champion included, will compete in a standard tournament, held on a single day. The winner of this tournament will earn the title of “Tournament Champion.” If the Points and Tournament Champion is the same person, that fighter immediately earns the title of “Undisputed Champion.” If two separate fighters hold the two titles, a date will be set for the two of them to have a final battle, and the Undisputed Champion will be crowned.
4. After the crowning of the Undisputed Champion, all fights will be put on hold for about a month or two, allowing the fighters an “off season” before the next season starts up again.
1. The RP board’s rule one is also the Fighter’s League rule one. Have FUN. If you get the ultimate screwjob from a judge, don’t complain, just bounce back. There’s nothing serious riding on these fights but a little bit of cash money (If the bet system is re-implemented) and pride, and if you get knocked out of the running for any of the Champion titles, hey, just come back next time.
2. As stated earlier, anyone can enter. There’s very little likelihood of myself or anyone else ACTUALLY denying you entry.
3. Get in touch with me if you want to be one of the ‘Mystery Judges’, just know that I wasn’t lying when I said that if you want to both participate AND judge, I’ll be watching you with a hawk. I want a pool of at least 3-5 people who are only judging, at least, myself included, but like I said, if you want a judge, ask me or anyone else who’s associated with this thing.
4. The fights are going to be more or less like the fights are in regular tournaments. You’ll get a week, two weeks tops, to get your match finished and judged. This goes to both fighters AND judges: I won’t start a new set of matches until every previous one is done and in the books, so don’t dally. Judges can judge at ANY time between one week and two weeks, but try to get it in at least by the end of the second week.
5. Above all else, just have fun. If you have any questions, drop me a PM or MSN, or email… or whatever.
Sure, it's quite a bit of reading, but most of that is all for Fluff, for show, IC stuff that only has a small bearing on what you actually need to do. Now, I did this last time, and I'm gonna do it again. If you are interested in joining this, please, post here and say so. Also, VIPs who have already said they want in, go ahead and tell me again here, so I have it all in one little place.
Everyone, however, let it be known this is NOT an official signup. In a few days time, I will be making the in-character signup thread, a permanent thread that goes on at Legion. Much like last time, you will simply walk in, be directed by any of the Legion staff towards Dain, who will be in his office. Feel free to puppet Dain to any extent you need to finish the post, wherein you will simply sign a release form and give some general information about yourself (Name, phone number, address, email). In regards to that thread, however, please be conscious of the time frame. If you sign up a few months after the last post, make that obvious, don't make it a continuation where you walked in just as that character was leaving. Makes things stream smoothly.
Again, if you find it interesting and want in, lemme know here, and if you decide to take the plunge, sign up in character when I get the thread going.
