Taj walked out of the school yard and squinted his eyes. The sun was glaring, and Taj hated it. It was just too damn hot. That's why he always preferred the nightime. Not only because you can only tag up at night, but because he always preferred street lights. Why? Because they never shined to damn bright. As he stepped onto the courtyard he had one thing on his mind.
He needed to talk with the Pillars. It didn't matter which one. This Malakai thing was going too far. Taj was able to tolerate the guy for so long. Something had to be done.He also knew that if anyone was going to give him the Okay for this it was Kurtz. Malakai was already foolish enough to have an altercation with Kurtz, and being the gambling man Kurtz is, he knew he had nothing to lose in this situation. It's not as if Taj was an asset toward the Pillars anyway. He was expendable and he accepted that.
He knew that the Pillars were already aware of Malaki's hatred toward Hircine High and his affiliation with the Varronites, and to be quite honest he was rather shocked that they didn't take action already.
[Maybe they needed a scapegoat or sumthin'] Taj thought as he walked through the school yard in search of a pillar.
Taj hated the fact that he was becoming a lapdog if they allowed him to go through with this. But in his eyes it was a Win/Win situation. He wins because he finally gets to beat the hell out of Malakai, without the pressure of any authority on his back, and the Pillars win because they eliminate a potential threat.
[If I can just think about how I'm going to kick his ass, I'm sure I can supress my pride and my morals for a while.]
Taj stood in the center of the court yard, hand over his eyes, scanning the area for any Pillar in sight.
[I hope this works..}

"King me"
Kurtz sat in the courtyard, playing a game with checkers with one of the more civil Varronites. He had trouble finding an opponent for any game among the previous students, most learning long ago what a lost cause it was. The new students at least gave him a momentary opponent, even if they lacked experience.
Kurtz watched as his opponent played the first move that came into his head, then began to examine the board for his next move.

"What do you want?"
Kurtz didn't even have to hear the guy speak to know he was wanted for something. The people at Hircine who had the nerve to actually challenge him to a game of....well, anything, seriously could be counted on one hand. This guy wasn't one of them. To come over so causally and ask for a game....Kurtz didn't even need to see his face to know he had a motive.
"Out with it, I'd like to focus on this."
Kurtz moved another piece, taking one of his opponents and purposefully falling into a trap they had set.

"Woah Kurtz, I want to play a game before I bother you with my problems. Focus on your game my friend."
Taj always heard about Kurtz' excellent skills at games and gambling. He was a virtuoso of sorts and Taj respected that, considering he was virtuoso when it came to making ,"murals".
Taj scratched his chin and observed the game intentively.
A wise man once told Taj that by watching a man play a game that requires intelligence, you could can tell a lot about his character, not to mention human nature in general. And judging by the way Kurtz played checkers, he was a man fulled with interior motives.
"Hmm..."

"Or you can just tell me now. If you don't I'll just leave afterward and you'll get nothing."
Kurtz did not like being ignored, and as a Pillar he didn't think he ever should be. The student tried to continue a bluff that had already been seen through...which was always a losing strategy. Kurtz didn't like a few things from those he competed with, those right now that came to mind was lack of direction, overconfidence, and generally a lack of knowledge when it came to rules. Both his opponents at the moment were shining examples of this.
"Last chance."
Kurtz was speaking to both his competitors when he took one of his opponents pieces, only to have the piece he used swiftly taken as well.

Taj shrugged. He knew when he was beat. There was no use to even try to compete. Kurtz had all the chips in this situation. Taj realized that he might as well just spoke his mind while Kurtz was listening.
"You sure know how to call a bluff Kurtz." Taj sat down on a bench adjacent of the checkers game.
"Well Kurtz, I'm a freshman named Taj Mukuro. I came here to consult with you this Malakai character. I fucking hate this guy. Not only is he unloyal to the school, but he's taking sides with the Varronites. He even attempted to jump me along with another Varronite. A sight like that isn't very good for the school moral. I'm also aware that he had an altercation with you, which also isn't good for the morale. So my proposal to you is let me fight him on school grounds, ya know without having to worry about any, "consequences." His nonsense has gone off far enough you know? Besides it's not as if you have anything to lose in this situation. As far I go, well I'm pretty expendable, heh for now at least. So what do you say?"

"Hmmm...."
Kurtz paused to consider the offer, and found it rather to his liking. He technically was being asked to do less work, something he wasn't against. However, the plan had one problem....if this unknown lost his fight with Malakai, as unlikely as that seemed, it could cause the Pillars to lose face.
"Decent bargain, but I insist on one change.....if you fail in your endeavor, you no longer benefit from the bargain...meaning you you fail, we Pillars punish you both for starting a fight on school grounds."
Kurtz was covering his only missing link and making sure the job was done at the same time. The chances that the plan would fail shrank when the threat of being punished was added. Even if that motivation wasn't enough, he could easily sweep in at the last minute and get what he wanted.

Taj shrugged.
[It's not as if I was going to lose anyway.]
"No problem, It's not as if I'm going to fail anyway. Oh yeah!"
Taj dug hard into his pocket and pulled out a wrinkled piece of paper with some writing on it.
"My old man Finally let me use the store basement to throw a party. It's Hircine only a event, you know, to release a bit of the tension that's been going around. Consider yourself "cordually" invited Kurtz." Taj gave a grin.
[If Kurtz came, everyone else was sure to come.]
"Just in case your considering NOT to go, I'm sure a group of kids will be sure to play some dice on the corner. That coule be a PRETTY penny man."
Taj handed the wrinkled flyer to Kurtz, hoping he would accept it and consider going.
"Well I guess I should take my leave then, Malakai isn't going to beat himself up, Later."
And with that Taj made a 180 and made his way toward the school.
It was clobberin' time.
