OOC: Rules are for suckers!
IC:
Despite his best efforts, Pain Killer couldn't hide the grin forming on his face as he walked through Legion, heading towards the stairway that led to the rooftop. It'd been a while since he'd gotten a good fight, the last one being against Taiku and his perfect record against the massive Senior student. Thanks to a few of those fights, several members of the crowd gave Adam their undivided attention, expecting to see him head towards the staff area in yet another confrontation with Legion's owner. Thus, when Pain Killer began climbing the stairs, they began to follow him, adding to the crowd already at the top.
Pushing through the gathered spectators, Adam made his way to the centre of the cleared space, taking note of the fact that no one was standing there, waiting for him. This meant his opponent either hadn't made it yet, or was hiding in the crowd. Either way, there was nothing Adam could do about it. He couldn't watch every direction in case there was a sneak attack or something along those lines, and so, he'd simply roll with whatever happened. After all, there was no point in worrying over what was beyond his control.
Shoving his gloved hands into the pockets of his trenchcoat, Adam simply narrowed his eyes and waited for his foe to show up. This was his first fight in the league, he'd have to make it a good one.

((Considering the sudden nature of this thread, I'm giving Yuri a bit of a reprieve. If he hasn't posted by the time I get online tomorrow noon-ish, however, I will seriously consider a replacement fighter, or a DQ victory.))

As Pain Killer stood, looking around and making note of the faces, a figure, likely long unseen by the taller student's eyes, slipped through the crowd behind him. Decked out in his usual getup, complete with the wild hair and a white button-down shirt, left unbuttoned at the top half, Aryck Venn, casually and quietly, put his hand on Pain Killer's shoulder, speaking calmly as he did so in hopes that he wouldn't suddenly react and strike out.
"Looking for someone...?"
Either Pain Killer would turn to face the recognizable voice, or if he did not fast enough, Aryck would slide past him, walking into his full view and standing at the opposite end of the human circle. Either way, he would end up there eventually. He rolled his shoulders casually, loosening them up, and then rolled his neck, popping the joint in a few places there as well.
"Sorry I took so long to join the party," Aryck would say, a small half-smirk bringing up one side of his mouth. "I trust I didn't miss too much?"

Pain Killer flinched away from the casual touch, his head snapping to the side to face the man who had begun speaking. The voice alone was familiar, but not enough for Adam to recognize him completely, but the instant he saw the pineapple hairstyle, it was crystal clear. There was a mutual respect between the two, and perhaps a friendship mixed in there as well between the former partners in Stern's nameless mass, two contributing factors keeping Pain Killer from rushing Aryck while he had his back turned and starting the fight then and there.
That, and the fact that Adam was well aware Aryck would probably see it coming, and pound him into the ground.
"Nah. I thought I'd come up here for some fresh air, and my fans seemed to follow me."
Pain Killer turned his body to face the same direction as his head, his hands remaining in his pockets as Aryck spoke again, causing a smirk to form on Adam's face. Miss anything? I don't even know how long he's been here... Deciding that he'd just assume Aryck had recently arrived, Adam shrugged.
"Well, you're a few months too late to catch Stern. His plan kinda fell through, now the school's got it's own security force thing. It's a real pain in the ass."
Pausing a beat, Pain Killer lifted his hands out of his pockets, his right leg drawing back as his right hand came up to his chest, the left hand clenched in a loose fist near it's respective shoulder.
"But, catching up should wait. I want to see if you've improved since you've been gone, or whether you can at least still keep up with me."

Aryck nodded in his usual manner, a slow and deliberate tilt forward of his head, with his eyes never leaving the man speaking. There were a few things the younger student could remark upon, however, Adam had already assumed himself into a fighting stance. Despite the seemingly random nature of Aryck's arrival, he had, indeed, been sent in to replace the fighter that Adam was originally set to combat against on the rooftop, and so, true to his nature, he did not waste time in rolling his shoulders one more time and raising his arms up in a Wing Chun-esque stance.
His dominant right hand was held close to his body, his hand in an open palm facing inside, and positioned directly on the center line of his body. His left hand, meanwhile, was held out extended, but mirrored his right hand in position and style. He stepped forward his his left foot and angled his lower body to the right, standing with legs spread out past shoulder-width. With this, Aryck took a small exhaling breath, clearing out the words and thoughts of earlier and focusing instead on the fight to come. He knew Adam fairly well, had fought alongside him in the past. His techniques and styles were not foreign to him, and Aryck knew that they were also effective against his own.
And thus, he moved.
Stepping forward slowly, meticulously, Aryck made his way towards his acquaintance-turned-opponent. First his left foot would step out, quickly followed by his right catching up. He would shuffle step in this way until he came withing kicking range of his opponent. Once there, his left foot would strike out in a kicking motion forward. However, before it would extend fully, Aryck would stomp it down, turning it into a feint mixed with a power step. As it stomped down, he would find himself in a slightly crouched stance, upon which he would shoot forward with his right hand, hand tightening into a closed fist to deliver a Wing Chun punch, fist held vertically, toward the bottom of Adam's sternum, about six to eight inches below where (I think) his own right hand was held.
As he did this, he simultaneously brought his left hand back towards his own chest, fingers curling slightly to prepare for any kind of counter-attack coming his way.

There was no motion from the large Senior student as Aryck closed the distance between them, the small movements of his eyes watching Aryck and the slow rythmic breathing of his chest being the only signals Pain Killer was not a statue. His lanky opponent had almost the same reach as him, which made Adam's task that much more difficult in using his size to his advantage. Instead, he would need to bring the fight much closer than mere striking range. It was a state of mind he often used against faster fighters, which admittedly was nearly everyone he'd faced thus far, but hopefully it would serve him well against his former comrade.
Whether it was nerves, anxiety, or the fact he was compelled to show Aryck how much he'd improved, Pain Killer reacted without thinking the moment he saw Aryck begin his feint-turned-attack. His right leg slid back and to his left, turning his body to face further towards his right in an effort to avoid the perceived kick heading in his general direction. Having already "avoided" the opening "attack" Aryck had performed, and with his foe well within punching range, Adam's left hand would jab forward at his opponent's chin, a quick tap that would still hurt, but likely do little other than leave the jaw sore for a while. If Aryck followed through with his punch, Pain Killer would have unintentionally changed the angle of the strike, making it difficult for him to land a blow against Adam's front while using his right hand, while the left would need to come across Pain Killer's body in order to do the same. This would have forced Aryck's attack to slide across Pain Killer's torso, grazing his body but doing little else.
Regardless of the success of his jab, Adam would retract the blow as quickly as he'd sent it out, taking a small step to the left with his left foot in order to gain a better sence of balance, as well as to bring his body to face Aryck once more.

In this case, the feint not only served as an attempt to fake out his opponent, but also to 'test the waters', so to speak, and see how Pain Killer would react. Aryck's mind was trained in fighting, as it was a great deal of his life to this point. Thus, when Pain Killer stepped out of the way of the initial kick-feint, Aryck's hand, which was already systematically about to shoot out in a punch, stopped dead still, about two millimeters past its original position.
Instead of attacking, Aryck had suddenly been put on the defensive, and had to react accordingly.
The formerly-punching right hand swept up quickly, palm now opened and facing Aryck, catching the jab on the inside of the wrist. As it touched, Aryck twisted his arm so that the edge of his hand now faced Pain Killer, the rolling of his arm turning the trajectory of the jab to fall just to the right of his face. As he did this, Aryck turned his body to the right and rose up slightly, so that he was facing his former comrade as well, not to mention his right arm would further push away the attacking fist.
Simultaneously with the turn, Aryck would use his left hand in a similarly-styled punch, with a similarly-placed target: Once again, Aryck would aim for Pain Killer's sternum with a Wing Chun punch, looking to strike and quickly retract, and bring his left leg back up under his body some more.

If Aryck thought Adam would switch from offense to defense much like he had, then he didn't know the self-proclaimed Pain Killer as well as he may have liked. Indeed, given the mindset Adam was in currently, it should be no surprise to the smaller man what sort of tactics Pain Killer was using, although they were ones he hadn't used since Varron had shut down nearly a year ago. It was the same mindset he had used to some success in the past, and one he hoped would yield the same result here.
Pure aggression.
As Aryck deflected Adam's jab to the side, the larger male twisted his upper body with the momentum, whipping his right fist forward in a straight cross aimed directly at the smaller man's nose. Whether he didn't see Aryck begin his attack or didn't care, it didn't particularly matter at this point, although with the movement of his torso, Aryck's strike would now be headed towards Pain Killer's ribcage, rather than his sternum. However, true to his moniker, Pain Killer would take the blow's full force as Aryck had intended, only hopefully, giving his former teammate a strike in return.

Aryck's positioning was seemingly quite precarious, but in this situation, it would serve only to help him. Lowered as he was, legs spread apart, he was a much harder target to hit than he should have been. Coupled with this fact was that Aryck's style of fighting at the moment, Wing Chun, was well-known for its intense amount of bodily control. Punches are thrown with speed, not force, to provide power, and punching from the body rather than from the outside gives them a much larger rate of control than a regular punch. As such, even as Pain Killer turned and Aryck's knuckles rapped against his ribcage, a simple lowering of his body was all that was needed for the incoming right cross to sail overhead.
As PK would be punching and Aryck dropping down, the lankier boy would continue in motion. As he lowered, his left fist retracted and his right fist shot a quick punch into Pain Killer's nearest rib with intentions to stun and/or surprise him. Even as he was doing that, however, Aryck was shuffle-stepping forward and to his left, lowering his head under Pain Killer's grasping range and weaving around the bigger fighter to get to his backside. From here, if he got his right leg around in time, it would strike out, kicking at the back of Pain Killer's knee in an attempt to bring him down to one knee, grounding him and keeping him from escaping any further attack.

OOC:I'm gonna go with Aryck in this fight. It was equal and short-lived, but Pain Killer hasn't been posting. I'm encouraged to pick a winner. Sucks this would have been awesome.
The the fighter's went at each other, dodging, countering, etc. Nathan leaned in his chair with full attention. The television, being old and not in the best condition, held little focus with grain and grey-ish colors. However, throughout the match, one thing had become clear to Nathan. The larger man would lose this fight. Not due to skill or technique. Today was merely not his day. With this knowledge in his head he continued to watch. Roof fights were fun to watch. Just like Hollywood movies in the making.
OOC: Sorry for the quick judging, but I have to post with my bro's computer.

OOC: Sorry. I've got no real excuse why I neglected this thread, other than the fact I just kinda lost track after being in so many. Next time, Aryck, we'll have a real fight, yeah?
