I usually go with 300x100, resolution 72.

300 by 100, 400 by 120, 400 150... That's usually the max I go. 200-250 pixels in height for pop outs.

The border should overlap Ishida. Maybe lower the opacity a little, too?

Render doesn't take up enough of the Sig. It should take up at least 1/3 of it.

Yeah, but now that you've enlarged the render, it looks slightly worse. On the render layer, hit CTRL+J, and set the copied layer on Soft Light or Overlay. This will imrpove the quality of it.
