Well, some of you may recognize this from the VIP section, and I've decided to take the inititive.
I think it's time we forget having "random" Xin Chats and "randomly organized" Xin Chats, and instead aim to have one scheduled chat every week. These Xin Chats would be started by myself or another Moderator at a distinguished time, and would be used as ways to discuss opinions regarding storylines (although certainly NOT insults that could lead to flame wars) as a way to get to know each other reasonably behind the scenes of the board.
From what I'm estimating, our first scheduled Xin Chat may officially start next Friday at 8:00 p.m. EST, and possibly be open for all to join and discuss for the rest of the evening. We may test the waters tomorrow night, however, I'm not certain of my own plans, so it may wait until next Friday.
For those reading this, please reply the following things: your opinion on this idea, any suggestions you have, and - most importantly - if you wish for me to invite you into a Xin Chat automatically or not. If you do not respond with that acceptance or denial, I will automatically default to inviting you.
I hope to see if we can actually pull this off, so please let me know what you think, and we'll see how it goes, all right?

Just a suggestion, but maybe a Friday would be a bad time, since most people are out of work/school and what not, and would rather get out of the house.. maybe another day like a sunday? a time where people are winding down from the weeked?...idk... just imo.

Just a suggestion, but maybe a Friday would be a bad time, since most people are out of work/school and what not, and would rather get out of the house.. maybe another day like a sunday? a time where people are winding down from the weeked?...idk... just imo. Friday, Saturday, Sunday - I work. Evenings. No good. This rant brought to you from an admin tired of hearing people whine.... Liam: Then maybe the next one will be scheduled for a different[/i] time? Everyone seems to talk about their own schedules...but let's remember, few of us will have the same schedule. Period. Yes, it's perhaps excluding some people one week, and others the next, but we can't pull fucking miracles out of our asses here. ^^;; If you're absolutely wanting to be involved, you'll have to make time at some points. It may not seem fair all the time, but consider every other member that does meet that schedule. Look at it from that perspective. We'll try and find a way to fit everyone in, even if it is changing the day every single week (we can have a stickied thread, by all means, notifying which date it will be after the Xin chat finishes on that night). Thank you for your patience. Please return to your daily shenanigans. ^^ [(I personally (Tanya speaking now, by the way, in case you didn't catch the huge tag above... ) think that we start on one day of the week (ex: Monday), and the next week do Tuesday, so on and so forth. Weekends we could have it at some point in the afternoon and through the evening to accomodate those who might have something planned during the day.)]

1) Those who have my MSN... I'd like to be invited to the XIN chat...
2) Have people ever kept logs of the entire chat by saving it? I mean, for those who miss it, perhaps it wouldn't be as bad if they read the saved convo to know what's going on.

I'd like to have an invite to the conversation if it wouldn't be too much trouble. Other than that, I think everything is fine, especially with the added suggestions previously made, not much more I can think of to add on.

2) Have people ever kept logs of the entire chat by saving it? I mean, for those who miss it, perhaps it wouldn't be as bad if they read the saved convo to know what's going on. Aside from people who SHOULD be keeping those "logs", there'll be updates on the OOC covering the material discussed during the "official" XIN chats. Remember, every and all members of this forum are welcome. Also, don't forget, some are "official" as meaning that those are strictly "business," discussing the forum as if it were our jobs. However, not all XIN chats are like this. The point of one was to just get to know each other in a chat and have some fun. Whether you talk about something serious pertaining the forum just came and went. But, assuming from Leon's idea, they'll be seperate (which, actually doesn't sound bad to me for some reason =P) ALL Members of this board are welcome. ~Manuel

As I stated earlier, I am all for xin chats and all But making them scheduled might not be the best thing since the same would be left out over and over again. I'll try to be there whenever it's planned, but keep in mind that I do have work the following day and 8pm EST is... 0:00 am or something? But yeah, I find it a good idea, you can always invite me and I do urge to go berserk and invite people in the evenings randomly as well, just to spread the good will and all

Some of us don't have MSN....and live in different time zones...and other such things tht would make an official weekly set up difficult.
Also, anything that is important enough to merit discussion should be discussed on the board, where everyone has plenty of time to see it.
Personally, I'm all up for Xin Chat if a bunch of members are online and such, but official makes it seem like too much of a bother.

I'm going to fall on default with Liam's arguments here. I'm getting rather tired of people noting why they can't show up, why they feel the scheduling is wrong, and why they feel Xin Chat isn't even a good idea. Note that we're not making "official" decisions based on these Xin Chats. Rather, these are resources that work much faster than board threads and PMs. Instantaneous discussion that is much more personal. That's much better than having a thread where you're worried someone missed out. Either way, I'm free tonight, so we'll be starting the Xin Chat at 6:00 p.m. EST as a "test drive," type thing for those that show up tonight, then have the "official" one (that does not mean important matters discussed, but rather an established schedule-time) on Monday at 6:00 p.m. EST and extend to 12:00 a.m. EST. We'll also use Tanya's idea of moving it one day forward every week, so that way you're destined to have a chance at showing up at least once. I want everyone to understand that these "official" Xin Chats are not things where the Staff and the members meet together to discuss solid events. No, that will stay on the board itself (so rest easy Sternbot); rather, this is meant for a place where someone can ask the entire board something, we discuss it, someone makes a lewd joke, everybody laughs, that sort of thing. For those that do not have MSN, you better download it, or else you're missing out. Otherwise, I have no sympathy for you. And that's that. I'll see those of you at home tonight at 6. If you can't make it tonight, then hopefully you'll be with us on Monday.

I personally think it is a really cool idea. It is a great way to share ideas and get new ideas from the others on this board about what they think of your character, and other such things.
Edit: I'd like to be invited.

Since no one answed Dean's question, it's roughly 1 am.
That's the point of my comment on time zones though, in that the time zones can be extreme differences.
Though really, since this isn't going to be used to discuss anything super important, I don't see a need to be official...something so casual should be casual. Official seems to be like a word that would take the fun out of it.
Of course, it won't matter to me since I don't have MSN, but it's still seems silly to me.

Leon this is such an amazing idea! Wherever did you come up with the inspiration for such a thing? Send me an invite and I'll be there Monday.
